Sunset Shimmer awoke this Monday morning bright and early, full of energy, and ready to start the school day. Usually Sunset like pretty much everyone else had the "Monday Blues" and would have lamented getting up but recent events had changed her point of view. She got out of bed and trotted over to her bathroom where she grabbed her tooth brush in her magic field and began her morning routine. She brushed her teeth and then grabbed her hair brush as she looked in the mirror to see how messy her mane looked.
"You know as much as I like being a pony again it's still gonna take some time before I get used to seeing myself in the mirror like this," she said right before she brushed her mane into her usual style. After that was done she exited her bathroom and sat on her couch and went over everything to herself, "OK first day of school as a pony let's see here backpack," she said as she grabbed her backpack in her magic field and struggled to slip her front hooves through the straps. "Hmpth just gottah hmm," she said as she worked and after a good five minutes she managed to get it on her back before saying, "Wuhh. Check but I should probably ask Rarity to make me a saddle bag sometime soon as I do not want to go through that every morning, anyway what else do I need... OK I already put on my street clothes before turning into a pony last night so if something happens where I need to turn back into a human I won't be standing there in my pajamas, and Princess Twilight already gave me some school supplies from Equestria so I will not have to deal with any unforeseen consequences about not having hands," she said as glanced down at her hooves. "Looks like I am ready to go now all I need to do is wait for Rainbow Dash to get here... it shouldn't take too long," she said before looking up at her clock and seeing that it was 5:55 am and Rainbow Dash had agreed to come over at 6:45 am.
"Well shoot. Guess my excitement woke me up earlier then I thought...Well I guess I can squeeze a quick game or two in before she gets here," she said as turned on her TV and grabbed her game controller in her magic field, "It's kinda funny that I found this fighting game with ponies it in on sale on the online store pretty much right after the girls left yesterday," she said as the game loaded and she selected her character, "Kind of wish there was a pony that looked like me in here but whatever...one weird coincidence is enough for now." She started the arcade mode with her character and made her way up the fighting ladder as she waited.
*50 minutes later*
Rainbow Dash using her super speed bursted through the door to Sunset's apartment and stopped herself by putting her hand on the ground in a somewhat dramatic superhero-esque pose. Sunset having already gotten used to her friend doing stuff like this calmly ended her game and turned to her friend before saying, "Thanks for coming over Rainbow, anyway you ready to go to school."
"Um yeah I am but I am still wondering why you wanted me to come over, I mean weren't you cool with being a pony at school and didn't care what anybody thought of you?" said Rainbow Dash.
"Well yeah I am but that doesn't mean I am not a little nervous. I mean this is like my first day of school all over again you know. It's like your excited but also scared at the same time...I'm sure Pinkie has some kind of special word for it but you get what I'm saying right?" said Sunset.
"Not really I've always been cool so the first day of school was no big deal for me," said Rainbow with a smug smile on her face.
Sunset then had a devious look cross her face as she said, "Really? Because I seem to remember Fluttershy telling me that on your first day of kindergarten you cried on the swings during recess and when she ran up to you and hugged you in an effort to try and calm you down you accidentally called her mommy and that's how you two met."
Rainbow then had a nervous blush cross her face as she awkwardly smiled and scratched the back of her head. "Whaaaattt? I don't know why Fluttershy would say that.... I mean maybe I was a little nervous but no way all that happened."
"Yeah sure. Anyway let's just get to school," said Sunset Shimmer.
Rainbow Dash snapped back to her normal self before saying, "Yeah sure but one more question. I mean it's not like I'm not honored that you chose me to take you to school and all but why me? No offense it just seems like out of all of us your closest to Twilight so I figured you'd pick her."
"Well I needed someone cool and confident to escort me in case I freak out....and well your the only one I know who can get to my apartment before school without having to get up earlier," said Sunset.
"Ahh super speed thing. I gotcha well then let's go already so you can see just how not bad it is and get through your "first day of school" just like I did," said Rainbow Dash as she confidently smiled and pointed at herself.
Sunset then quietly said under her breath, "I hope I get through this a little better then you did."
"What was that my good friend who seems to be forgetting I can still just leave and be back at my place in ten seconds flat," said Rainbow Dash who clearly had heard what Sunset said and was just trying to mess with her back.
"NOTHING I SAID NOTHING!" said Sunset with a nervous smile, "Let's just be on our way."
Rainbow and Sunset then exited the apartment and they started on there way to school.
"See Sunset nothing bad is gonna happen," said Rainbow Dash as they walked along.
"Yeah I guess your right.. you know even though we aren't even at the school yet I already feel like things are gonna be OK," said Sunset.
As they continued walking they saw a business man walking passed them who kept nervously glancing over at Sunset.
"Hi there nice day isn't it!" said Sunset talking to the man as she tried to break this bit of awkwardness.
Instead of responding the man simple screamed, waved his arms in the air, and ran away screaming, "AHHH TALKING DEMON HORSE!!!"
Rainbow Dash burst out laughing and tried to speak saying, "Hahahaha, I'm sorry Sunset but that freak out was just priceless. Hahaha."
"Welp it looks like I didn't think this through as well as I thought," said Sunset as she now wondered about what other reactions and situations she would run into that she had not considered.
