Scootaloo's Day Off

"I'm bored!" a white coated filly unicorn exclaimed.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders had to admit that, just as their friend had noted, they were bored out of their little skulls.

"I don't see you with any ideas, now do I, Sweetie Belle?" the yellow earth pony farm filly accused. Some may see this question as a little harsh, but Apple Bloom was incredibly bored, and that made her irritaed to no end.

The Crusaders were on summer break, so there were no ponies to tutor. There were also no ccutie mark problems for miles, and the map had not called them again, so that left them in Ponyville with nothing to do.

And they had done everything they could think to do.

Then, just as they were riding past the cinema, the orange pegasus filly who drove the scooter, aptly named Scootalo, paused her ride.

"What's the hold up?" Apple Bloom asked.

"Look! Theres something new!" Scootalo said, pointing at the titles of the films being played in the theater that day, and there was indeed a new addition the crusaders hadn't seen before.

"That seems mighty interesting..." Apple Bloom stated. She was curious, as the title left just enough room to the imagination to get her wondering what it could be.

"Well, we have enough time until dinner, if you girls wanna go see it. I'm sure it'll be fun! And I think we saved up enough allowance money, right?" Sweetie Belle asked. It was true that the three fillies had been saving up in case of a spontaneous adventure, or even just a simple extra activity they hadn't planned on.

"Alright! This is gonna be amazing!" Scootalo gleefully said.

"You don't even know what it's about yet!" Apple Bloom scolded her friends enthusiasm. "Although, I have to say, I hope it's good. Movies aren't that cheap."

With that, the three filles went up to the ticket stand.

"Three tickets to 'Leisure Rules' Day Off'!" the three fillies said in unison.

The Cutie Mark Crusaders had gotten a small popcorn and soda each, and sat down for the movie. After the trailers, the movie played.

The movie was about a colt, by the name of Leisure Rules, who didn't take school very seriously. He was more concerned with having fun. His adventure was fueled by his antics, which were unrealistic at best. The Crusaders, though, weren't thinking about how realistic his adventures were. There were absolutley enthralled with the film. Afterwards, as the Crusaders recalled the events of the film, they walked out of the theater.

"... and when they were on the float! That was so cool!"

"What about that colt's singing! It was spectacular!"

Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle took a momentary pause in their recalling of the film when Apple Bloom groaned quite loudly.

"Hey, are you alright there?" Scootaloo asked, concered for her friends well being, while Sweetie Belle shot a worried look.

"Yeah..." she groaned again. "I think it was just too much to eat. Im'a get to bed early. See you girls tomorrow." Apple Bloom walked off towards the farm, ready to lie down and have a long night of rest.

Sweetie Belle yawned. "Yeah, I'm going back home, too. Rarity said she was gonna have Pinkie Pie over, and I don't wanna miss desert!" And with that, she was off.

Scootaloo then got on her scooter, and head off towards her home. She was going to be staying with Rainbow, as they often had "Sister Slumber Parties". It was a custom they adopted after Scootaloo's confession during the first camping trip.

Scootaloo pondered these slumber parties, wondering if she could ever convince Rainbow to have one of these parties at her fillyhood home. It could be nice, she thought. Rainbow's parent's were so kind the one time she did meet them. She was sure that they wouldn't mind another guest, especially with their daughter there.

It was funny, because if she were to stay at Rainbow's fillyhood home with her parents they had just about the same busy work schedule as Leisure's parents, and their work hours are what made it possible for him to go on his crazy adventures. Heck, she could even try it if she wanted to. She even had two other friends who might be willing to adventure with her. And she still went to school, which Leisure did as well.

The more and more she thought, the more and more Scootaloo realized her life had many, many parallels of her new second favorite fictional character, next to Daring Do, of couse. And, the more she realized she had in common with Leisure, the more she realized it could be possible to reenact the movie's events. She had everything, from the never-around parents to the friends who would be there for her. The only thing she couldn't think of was talking to the audience, but Pinkie Pie seemed to talk to nopony sometimes, so maybe she could know just how to do that, too...

And with that thought, Scootaloo had quite the idea. An extravagent, awesome, spectacular idea that nopony would dare to think of!

It would take her the whole summer to prepare. She would have to ask the local DJ where she got her equipment, or if she could borrow some. She would have to ask Rarity for a ponnequinn of a filly, if she had any spares. She would have to save up a lot of bits, especially to get good seats at a sporting event. And, an even bigger question, when would there be another festival in Ponyville's streets?

But, even with these obstacles and so many factors that needed to line up perfectly, with the proper amount of planning, preparation, and watching that movie over and over, studying it to get the events down to a tee, she knew it would be possible.

Scootaloo knew there was a challenge ahead, but she wasn't going to back down. She was ready. She was determined to make her little daydream a reality.

Just like Leisure Rules had said. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it."
