Silent: Windy Chyme's Story

Entry #012

Dear Diary,

My entire body feels like it’s completely numb! I was at the gym again when suddenly it starts. At first it was in my back hooves, then it quickly spread throughout my body. Pretty soon my entire body...kinda….well...okay. I passed out. When I woke up, I was in the med bay at the gym with my trainer, Stormy and to my surprise--my dad. While my dad and the nurse told me that I was just dehydrated, the doctor told a different story. According to him, my body was in the beginning stages of...basically breaking the stomach down slowly. To make it all make more sense to me, the doctor described it as like a black hole in my tummy. When nothing goes in for a long period of time, the hole begins to collapse (see? Finally got that word right) in on itself. When asked how something like this happened, my dad, being the “best” liar that he is told them that bits had been tight as of lately and we simply couldn't afford much food. Well that worked as well as one could think, because the doctor and nurse bought that story. Anyways, after that dad and I ended up dropping Stormy back off at her place then went back to the apartment.

This was two days ago and I still feel numb! This can’t be good. Also, not to alarm you too much but I recently took a slightly longer look at myself in a large mirror. I didn’t really notice how my ribs kinda poke out of my skin. They’re slightly visible under my fur. I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty sure that’s not supposed to happen. I guess I’ve been ignoring my body’s need for food for longer than I thought. Yet it’s not entirely my fault! Had I not had to scavenge for my food for the past many months, I wouldn't have almost starved to death. Had my dad been here to provide me with food on more than ‘whenever he feels like it’, we wouldn't have had the argument we did that night! Then I wouldn't be sitting here in my bed, squinting through one eye and mouth writing because my hoof is broken--again! I guess I’ll stop writing for now and just head to bed. Gotta get rest for school.
Love,
Wind Chyme (age 8)

P.S.: I don’t know how I’m gonna explain the broken hoof and black eye to my teacher tomorrow. Maybe she’ll believe I had a skateboarding "accident"? I hope to Faust she believes that!
