Chapter 31 - Rude Wake Up Call (Small Respite)

Manehattan was excellent in Scootaloo's eyes. A successful mission. Her mother finally got all the stress and frustration out of her system of being a princess, and she even met a new friend that lives in Cloudsdale, Silver Lining. A fellow pegasus. She was pretty cool in Scootaloo's opinion. Even her parents approved. Of course Fluttershy was overly excited. Literally flying around and screaming oh my gosh, over and over again. Rainbow tried to act all cool about it. She even agreed with Silver Lining's parents that they could visit each other. Either at the castle or in Cloudsdale surrounded with her guards. Scootaloo needed protection. Her entirely family was in danger if they didn't catch who this pony was. Including her friends. But right now, that could wait. The day had finally came. A day of celebration. A day of joy, pleasure, happiness. The day of...

"THE WEDDING, EEEE!" Fluttershy squealed, shocking Rainbow Dash awake, along with Scootaloo who was sleeping on her face again. She sat up and looked around, flinging the poor filly off her a few feet away to land in the middle of the bed with a grunt.

"What?!" Rainbow Dash yelled out. "What's happening, what's goin' on, what....nothing's goin' on, is there?" Scootaloo groaned and slowly made her way back over to push Rainbow Dash back down and sit on her chest, curling into a little ball and falling back to sleep. "Right behind you squirt." Rainbow let her head drop back down on the pillow, soon after sawing logs. Fluttershy looked at the two girls in disbelief. Were they seriously....

"WAKE UP!!" Rainbow Dash yelped and flapped her wings, sending her and scootaloo flying into the air with the comforter. They crashed on the floor and groaned in pain.

"Mom," Scootaloo moaned from underneath the thick blanket. "What's the big deal?" Fluttershy jumped out the bed and made her way towards the blanket, flipping it off the two groaning ponies and shadowing them with the biggest grin she could make.

"There's a wedding going on today, remember?"

Rainbow froze from rubbing her horn, eyes widening and intaking a sharp breath in realization. She looked up and grabbed Fluttershy's hooves in alarm. "CADANCE'S WEDDING!! IT'S TODAY?!!"

"Mother! Not you too!" Scootaloo cried, making her way out the door to find a peaceful place to sleep, crying all the while. "Why can't I get some good sleep around here?! Why?!! I need a couch away from crazy ponies!! Where's Rarity when you need one?!!" Rainbow and Fluttershy watched her walk down the stairs and head towards the one place that Rainbow would definitely find her later. Giving her her space for a moment, Rainbow turned back to Fluttershy with nervousness.

"What do I do? I don't know what to do! Am I supposed to give her the flowers, give her a hug.....give her flowers and a hug?!"

"I am sure you are as more freaked out about the wedding more than the bride right now." They both looked towards the window where Celestia came from, making her way towards the two ponies wearing a warm smile. "It's a good thing you two weren't getting...engaged in anything at this moment. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. I accidentally walked in on two of my guards yesterday, and another couple this morning. I believe 'the season' is upon us." Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash shared a glance and then looked back to Celestia. "Anyway, I hope you two are ready?"

"I was just waking Dashie up," Fluttershy answered back enthusiastically, giving her a bright grin. Rainbow Dash just yawned and nodded.

"Yep. Flutters literally yelled at us to wake up. Poor Scoots. I'd better drag her awake with some cake to the face." She trotted towards the door, making her way to the kitchen where a certain filly was definitely sleeping next to a chocolate cake. She sighed and flapped her wings lightly, freeing them of their stiff situation before walking past the guards in front of the dining hall, who saluted to her while remaining in their stoic position. The door was pushed open and she strode silently inside, making her way towards the table where her chef was currently eyeballing an orange filly laying on top of a vanilla cake container, smiling contently and snoring peacefully while curled up in her little ball.

"She has not moved, your highness," the chef whispered in agony. "No matter how many times I poke her with this spatula." He held up a rubber utensil that held a stunning resemblance to the metal one, just...rubber.

"I need a slice of cake," Rainbow instructed. "Chocolate." The chef nodded and made her way over to another container and and popped the lid open, scooping out a slice of precut chocolate cake and hoofing it over to Rainbow. She grabbed it in her magic and slowly hovered it directly underneath Scootaloo's nose, holding it there before the nose started to twitch. Scootaloo unconsciously sniffed at the cake, moving her head around slightly. Then she stuck her tongue out lightly and licked the air. Rainbow chuckled and hovered it into her mouth slightly, allowing her to take a few licks, then tiny bites. As if she were imitating a rabbit. The chef stood beside her and chuckled at the filly's innocence.

"That is too adorable," she whispered as Scootaloo started eating the cake. She was getting chocolate on her face, but that's what made it so sweet. "She is such a sweet little angel."

"Yeah," Rainbow agreed before pulling back the spatula slowly. "My sweet squirt." The chef cast a disgusted look before going back to Scootaloo, whose eyes were beginning to move. They soon fluttered open, and she smacked her lips, glancing around her area before noticing the chocolate cake a few meters away, literally floating in front of her face.

"Uhhhh..." She stammered, eyeballing it up and down. "...can I....can I eat it?" Rainbow Dash chuckled and moved it closer.

"Go ahead squirt," she responded, allowing Scootaloo to take the spatula and eat the cake. "Then we have to get ready for the wedding, okay? Grandma Celestia's here."

"Cool," Scootaloo replied with a mouth full of cake. Rainbow rolled her eyes and grabbed her in her magic, hefting her off the container and onto her back. Then turned around and made her way back towards the doors.

"I'll have somepony bring back your spatula!" She called over her shoulder. The chef rolled her eyes, but nodded nonetheless. That was her most favorite one.

"Hi, Grandma!" Celestia froze her conversation with Fluttershy wearing a twitching eye upon hearing those words. She slowly turned her head to the orange foal walking in with a face full of chocolate, licking her lips and grinning up at Celestia. "How are you?"

"I was fine," she responded before quietly adding, "Before you called me grandma."

"But you are my grandma...right?"

"Yes, but...It just sounds...strange," Celestia clarified, waving her hoof around. "Anypony who addresses me by Grandma is...it just...." Rainbow snorted from the doorway, trying to hold on her laughter at her mother's face. She soon busted out into laughter, falling on her back and rolling around. Celestia grunted and walked over to her to bite down on her wing.

"OW! Mom!"

"No laughing, I do not enjoy being called Grandma."

"Is it because you're like thousands of years old?" Celestia's eye twitched again.
