//------------------------------// // Wildest Dreams // Story: Rainbow Dash's Revelation // by CapNTilfy //------------------------------// "Okay, Rainbow Dash...calm down. That was just a dream." she said to herself. "Take a deep breath..." She did so, then exhaled. "All right, let's try that again." She closed her eyes and let sleep take her away... --------------------------------------------- "Okay." Rainbow said. "Let's have a look here..." She conjured up a database of all her relevant memories of Sunset Shimmer. "Moment One: Fluttershy and me sang closely to her the day I formed the Rainbooms...hm. Pretty standard. Moment Two: Sticking up for Sunset when both Vice-Principal Luna and Principal Celestia were under the Dazzlings' spell...again, normal. I'd do that for any of my friends. Moment Three: Giving her my pen...yeah, maybe this crush thing was a fluke after all. Still, better be thorough. Four: Sitting close to her while waiting for Princess Twilight... Five: Sunset tackling me before I could pony up during a guitar solo...nope. Six: Sunset ponying up for the first time..." Rainbow chuckled. "Okay, I'll give you that one, brain. It was pretty awesome. Seven: The first time I saw Sunset play a guitar..." Rainbow smiled. "Another point to you, brain. Anyone who plays guitar like that is okay in my book." "Okay...still doubting the whole crush thing." said Rainbow. "But I'd rather be absolutely sure about this... Eight: Sunset gives me her guitar string. Again, standard friendship stuff. Nine: Sunset says I'm awesome...duh! Common knowledge, much? Ten: Me hugging Sunset after her defeat in the first round of the Friendship Games..." Rainbow thought for a moment. "It's true I don't often hug people...but Sunset's a good friend. Eleven: Sunset nuzzling me a little when I saved her...huh. I mean, I'm all about loyalty... Twelve: Snapping Sunset out of it after she blew up at this world's Twilight then comforting her...have I done that with any of my other friends? Thirteen: Sunset turning into that..." Rainbow trailed off, feeling a little unusual. She blinked and shook her head. "What was that all about? C'mon, Rainbow. Focus!" "Fourteen: Sunset singing on the dock at Camp Everfree...she does have one hell of a singing voice...and her hair blowing in the wind..." Rainbow shook her head again. "Moving on! Fifteen: Singing with her, looking her in the eyes during the Crystal Ball..." Rainbow sighed despite herself. "Okay...starting to get a little concerned here..." "Sixteen: She really looked good in that flamenco outfit... Seventeen: God, she looked so fucking hot in that swimsui-" --------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash bolted awake again. "Shit. I do have a crush on Sunset! I...I can't believe it." Rainbow put her head in her hands. "God, this better not fuck up the friendship we have." she sighed. "What am I going to do?" she started to smile. "Maybe I can get dream advice from Rarity. That's been one of her prime sources of inspiration, after all!" Rainbow Dash channeled her geode and went to Rarity's, full speed. --------------------------------------------- She arrived at Rarity's house and knocked on the door. "Coming!" said a young voice. The door opened from the inside to reveal Scootaloo's friend and Rarity's younger sister, Sweetie Belle. "Oh, hi, Rainbow Dash!" she nearly squeaked, which was surprising given her age. "Hey Sweetie Belle. Is Rarity home?" asked Rainbow. Sweetie Belle smiled. "I think so. Let me check!" she ran upstairs to Rarity's room as Rainbow waited. A moment later, she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. "Hello, Rainbow. Sweetie said you wanted to see me?" said Rarity. "Yeah." said Rainbow. "I've been having...weird dreams. I figured since you use them as inspiration for your designs and stuff you might be able to help me." "I do use them for inspiration and I know a thing or two about dreams, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to help you." said Rarity as she frowned. "That's okay, Rares. I'll take any help I can get." said Rainbow. "Very well." said Rarity. "Let's go up to my room then." --------------------------------------------- "So, what seems to be the problem, Rainbow Dash?" said Rarity as she took a sip of tea. "Well..." said Rainbow, trying not to mention Sunset by name. "I just realized that I've been having dreams about a crush I have." Rarity nearly spat out her tea. "Whoa! Are you okay, Rarity?" said Rainbow, startled. Rarity waved a hand signaling she was as she entered a coughing fit. "I'm fine, darling." she said hoarsely. "Wrong pipe." "Need some water?" asked Rainbow. "Yes, that would be nice. Thank you." Rarity said between coughs. Rainbow sped off and returned with a cup of water. Rarity quickly drank it down and took a deep breath, then exhaled. "Sorry about that." said Rarity as she blushed out of embarrassment. "So who is this crush of yours?" she asked. Rainbow blushed and put her hand behind her head. "I'm...not comfortable saying who it is right now." she said. Rarity nodded. "Fair enough. So how do you know you have a crush on this person?" "Well...my apparent crush just showed up in my dream. I was confused at first, then she told me she thought she knew why she was in my dream. So I said to her 'I know why you're in my dream. I have a crush on you!' Then I bolted awake." Rarity stroked her chin thoughtfully. "Hmm." she mused. "And prior to that dream, you had no romantic feelings for this girl?" Rainbow nodded. "It just came out of nowhere! Hell, I'm still trying to process it..." "I know how that feels..." Rarity said under her breath. "What'd you say, Rarity?" asked Rainbow. "Nothing!" said Rarity. Rainbow looked at Rarity for a moment, then shrugged. "I hate to say it, Rainbow Dash, but you didn't really need my help. That was a clear-cut dream, plain and simple." said Rarity. "That's okay, Rarity. I guess I just needed to talk to someone about it, is all." she gave Rarity a hug. "Thank you." Rarity smiled and returned the hug. "You're quite welcome, darling. Any time you need to talk, I'll be here." Rainbow broke the hug. "I know." she said, smiling. She sped off back to her home, not noticing Rarity wipe sweat off her brow and breathing a sigh of relief.
