Chapter 2: New Rangers

Chapter 2: Phoenix Rebirth

January 6, 2025 AD (8:00 PM)

Outside of Twilight and Flash's rooms several minutes later, Mako and Raleigh were walking along the quarters when both heard cries of both Twilight and Flash which Mako went to Twilight's quarters while Raleigh went to Flash's.

Opening the door to Flash's quarters, Raleigh saw Flash standing over his bed fuming while Mako on the other hand after opening the door to Twilight's quarter's found Twilight sobbing like crazy on her bed. Both pilots of Gypsy Danger looked behind themselves and saw that both of each other were dealing with a pair of broken spirits.

"Hey, want to talk?" Raleigh asked.

"Go to Tartarus..." Flash said cynically.

Mako over heard it and spoke, "That language is uncalled for."

Flash got pissed and spoke, "Hey! Did I want this to happen!?! I'll I know is that Twilight and I just got banished, had all our achievements thrown out, disowned by our families, abandoned by our friends, and had both of our citizenships taken away by a princess we trusted!"

"Yeah! How could our own family and friends whom we've loved and trusted do this to both of us?! Both of us get thrown out like garbage!" Twilight shouted.

Then Flash went over to Twilight’s room just as the Wei Tang Triplets, the Hansens, and the Kaidonovskys appeared which they asked along with Raleigh and Mako what happened which Twilight spoke about it.

"I was doing a magical performance at the Griffin Kingdom with Celestia's blessing and permission to improve relations between Equestria and that Kingdom. Flash on the other hand was escorting me as a guard. Then suddenly something went wrong and after what happened, I rushed home with Flash’s help and before I could figure out what went wrong I was dragged from my home, beaten, spat on, and thrown into a mud puddle! Flash was then arrested when he objected to the actions I was subject to that I just mentioned. Then both of us were tried for crimes we didn't do and while us both tried to reason with them, but they won't listen! My friends turned their backs on me! My family disowned me! And to top it all off, Princess Celestia stripped me of everything else; awards, achievements, and my position of the element of Magic and replaced by a show-off pony named Trixie!!" Twilight said.

"How?" The Rangers asked.

Flashback (The previous day)

Flash was waiting for Twilight to finish her performance at the Griffin Kingdom that had recently seen it rise from the ashes of when the Idol of Boreas was found by a Griffin explorer named Shark Tooth, he became king of the Griffins and his family became the new Royal Griffin Family.

Just then, Flash received word from Twilight to retrieve her as something had gone wrong. He didn't waste a second as they all headed off towards the scene which devastation greeted them.

Quickly getting to her, he put her on his back and flew back to Equestria as fast as he could before long, the home of Twilight came into view and he dropped her off.

Flash then waited in the branches above to see when Twilight would come out again with some answers to why a magical performance done by her went so wrong though thankfully no one was hurt.

Then Flash saw something he thought would never happen; Twilight was dragged from her home was being assaulted all the way out of town which he then spoke.

"What the hell's going on?!"

Before anyone could move Princess Celestia appeared along with Shining Armor and headed to the Everfree Forest which it didn't look good prompting the Royal Guard to go and investigate.

Hiding, Flash overheard what happened at it made them sick to their stomachs; Twilight was accused of mass destruction which although she was given a trial, it was more of a sham trial than anything which a second later after Princess Celestia banished Twilight Sparkle from Equestria, a group of Royal Guards appeared to ensure the banishment.

"Listen! Twilight is innocent!” Flash shouted.

But alas, his pleas all fell on deaf ears as it became clear that it was all going to be in vain for him prompting him to do something, he hoped he wouldn’t do, but decided to do it now as he then shouted to the pony group.

“Fine! You leave me no choice, but to resign!”

Flash wouldn’t get the chance to resign as seconds later, he was arrested for trying to allegedly to be planning to murder the Griffin Royal Family along with a pair of bombings that just happened in Canterlot and Ponyville thanks to a journal that was just “found” that as if it couldn’t get worse, his family were then informed of what supposedly happened and was kicked out if his family like Twilight was.

“Listen everypony! I didn't plan any of those things! Please listen to me! I would never do that unless I was ordered to but seeing that you won't listen you leave me no choice." Flash shouted.

"Flash Sentry, for you arrogance, piloting of mass murder, and helping Twilight Sparkle with her deeds! Your resignation is not accepted for refusing to carry out my orders as you leave me no choice…I, Princess Celestia strip you of your awards, achievements, and cast you out after a trial!!!!!!!" Princess Celestia shouted.

Flash then got a shame trial from Equestria’s own sick, version of a kangaroo court like Twilight’s as then, he was thrown into the Everfree Forest as Twilight watched it happen while she stood frozen and helpless on what to do next which then a pair of loud rumbles got everyone's attention.

The loud rumbles were eventually reveled to be that of Gypsy Danger and Striker Eureka…

Flashback end

His tale finished, Flash looked down with shame and spoke as he felt the sense of being cast out of a powerful group like an angel being cast out of Heaven.

"All I did was ask Princess Celestia to wait, but I was rewarded with the same fate as Twilight, stripped of rank and awards, dishonorably discharged, and cast out for something I didn’t do! What where they thinking?" Flash said while looking down.

“Don’t worry mate, your willingness to stand up for what is right is an honorable and noble trait that I’m amazed at your courage to say it as that takes true gal mate…” Herc said.

Calming down seconds later, Twilight and Flash told the tales of what they did prior to what happened before the banishment in a shortened form as it normally would've been hours which after about ten minutes, they all were amazed at what both did which Twilight asked if they would still be trusted which she would be surprised as Marshall Stacker Pentecost had overheard everything while taking a walk to ease his mind.

"Don't worry about that Miss Sparkle and Mister Sentry because I've already have that ready to be taken care of." Marshall Stacker Pentecost said.

Everyone was surprised to see Marshall Stacker Pentecost standing outside of Twilight's room which Mako wondered how much he heard of the tales that were told to the Rangers of the PPDC.

"How much have you heard?" Mako asked.

"Quite enough what happened was stupid and what should've happened was that an investigation should've been held and provided clear answers to what happened in the Griffin Kingdom and whether the journal that supposedly belonged to Flash Sentry that was brought into that shame trial was fake instead of real." Marshall Stacker Pentecost said.

"Yeah, it was stupid to what they did to you two! Flash mate, you did good in standing up for Miss Sparkle no matter what…" Chuck said.

Raleigh then spoke, "Yeah, talk about gross violations of basic civil rights if you ask me along with having your voices silenced."

Everyone else voiced their opinions which Sasha speaking next as Flash then redressed in proper clothing while Twilight looked onwards with sadness to the group.

"Talk about a pair of shame trials as they make Russia back in the Soviet Union days look decent." Sasha said.

"Unbelievable, they should've waited until things were properly searched and looked at more properly instead of hastily and half-assed comrades..." Alexis said while cracking his knuckles.

"It was horrible that you two got thrown under the bus!" Wei Tang Jin said.

"Disrespectful to an honorable flying warrior and a fair lady!!" Wei Tang Hu said right after Jin.

Wei Tang Cheung then spoke, "I agree with my brothers as it was unnecessary of what they all did to both of you!"

Herc then walked over to the former citizens of Equestria and spoke to them in a gentle tone that put both at ease as he sat near them in a desk chair.

"Look, what happened to both of you was a terrible thing and Flash; you were doing the right thing by protecting Twilight's civil rights by following a code of honor. Part of me thinks that both of you were set up to let this banishment thing happen and Flash, if you and Miss Sparkle here need a home after the Kaiju War ends, you're both welcomed to stay with my son and I along with our dog Max in Australia. We'll be sure that what they did to both of you was the dumbest thing they did and you can prove to them that you belong with them and prove you're both still heroes."

"Also, don't worry you two I went through something similar to what happened which years ago I was to be sent to my relatives after my parents died in a Kaiju attack, but I was rejected because I was blamed for their deaths on me being a girl." Mako said.

"Okay that's just BS." Flash and Twilight said at once.

After everyone left, both felt a sense of relief as everyone left for tomorrow would be a new day as both Twilight and Flash received new set of clothing before both changed into sleep wear before settling for the night. Both had trouble sleeping at first, but soon were asleep with the help of some soothing music provided by the Wei Tang Triplets.

The next morning, both were awoken by Raleigh and Mako which both didn't want to get out which prompted the Gypsy Danger team to ask the other rangers to get them up by blasting Ukrainian Hard House music to get them up. It worked, and both would-be-rangers got up a bit cranky as they soon headed to breakfast before training.

Both were given outfits that were the same as the team of Gypsy Danger as both got lectured on their new forms thanks to the Russians escorting them to the Mess Hall.

Both Twilight and Flash walked with their heads down as the events of yesterday played in their minds again and again as if it was a record stuck on repeat forever and ever.

Once in the mess hall, both Equestrians got stares directed at them mostly due to their hair colors though it soon dissipated. After getting their meals, both Twilight and Flash looked around for a place to sit when Herc got their attention.

"Hey Twilight! Flash! Come sit with my son and the other pilots!" Herc said.

"Um, we're good thank you." Twilight said.

"Non-sense! There's always room for you two!" Herc shouted seconds later.

Both sat down to the table of the Rangers which Flash looked around to see all the others sat at separate tables while the Jaeger pilots sat at this one surprising him and Twilight.

"Don't you all sit in separate tables?" Twilight asked.

"Well, we did at first, but we all decided to sit together not too long ago since, well minus we all tell about ourselves before the world ends..." Raleigh replied.

This surprised Twilight, but not Flash as he thought back to the times when Royal Guards of different squads ate together before things changed for the worse.

"So, what's your story Raleigh?" Twilight asked.

"My brother Yancy and I were pilots five years ago before I left and later rejoined with Mako becoming my new co-pilot," replied Raleigh.

This surprised the Equestrian duo and Twilight asked, "So, where is he?"

"He died five years ago when we were both connected fighting a Kaiju named Knifehead off the coast of Anchorage, Alaska USA." Raleigh replied somberly.

"Sorry about that." Flash said with empathy.

"It's okay and I vow to help end this war for him." Raleigh said firmly.

After breakfast, both Twilight and Flash got ready for the start of their training but decided to see if the nerds were interested when a piece of Kaiju organ landed near them prompting Twilight to speak in disgust as Flash found it funny earning him a smack from Twilight.

"EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!"

"Newt! Watch it will ya?!" Herman shouted.

"Sorry about that! Researching Kaiju." Newt said while rushing out and removing the Kaiju piece quickly.

Flash looked at them and spoke, "It's okay, you two interested to watch the sparing match?"

Both scientists shock their heads meaning no which Twilight and Flash left though Newt came out with Herman following him closely behind that prompted the two to stop where they were at before Newt spoke to them.

"Hey, you two want to help with Kaiju research later?"

Herman shook his head and spoke, "Newt, they're training to be pilots, not scientists you Kaiju Groupie."

"Hey now! I'm not a Groupie, I'm just a fan of them that's all and besides, they're going to be helpful in more than one role after all, we built that probe drone to find more help like them." Newt snapped with a bit of anger.

"Wait, what droid?" Twilight asked.

Both Kaiju Scientists gestured to a broken droid in the K-Lab which looked like a Predator Drone which Twilight then became a bit crestfallen.

"What? Did I say something?" Newt asked.

"It’s that, back in Equestria, what you two are doing is something I would be doing with Spike helping me which I'll ask why us of all creatures? Why Flash and I were chosen to help in this war?" Twilight said.

"Because the Kaiju are evolving faster than we can build Jaegers and those UN Pig-Heads won't give us more funding than eight months even after a section of the Wall of Life failed, but you can prove them wrong Twilight and Flash; rise up and strike!" Herman said with vigor and grit.

Both felt a surge of confidence as they then headed to the training room to become Rangers. It wasn't long before they arrived at the room and they found Raleigh with a pair of wooden staffs with Mako standing nearby. Both wondered what he was doing when Stacker Pentecost appeared to explain things.

"This a Ranger training room known as Kwoon Combat Room which helps keep the Rangers who drive the Jaegers sharp and focused. Plus, it'll determine if you two are drift compatible or not." Marshall Stacker Pentecost said.

"Drift?" Twilight and Flash said together.

"The Drift; two pilots mind-melding together in a giant machine, the deeper the bond the better you fight. When you go into the Drift, you don't talk and you don't try to latch onto a memory or the drift will collapse. Both pilots will know everything about the other pilot good and bad." Marshall Stacker Pentecost said calmly.

Twilight and Flash both blushed a bit at the thought of either one of them seeing all their memories which for Flash was he secretly masturbated to hot mares only to get busted by Shining Armor in very embarrassing ways and Twilight for all her embarrassing foal-hood moments.

Raleigh and Mako demonstrated what they would learn a bit before they could try it themselves. Twilight tried to use her magic which Flash caught on quickly and grabbed her staff away from her.

"In war Twilight, you won't be able to use magic sometimes as I’ve learned myself and now let's see what you got against someone like me." Flash said.

"Oh, okay then." Twilight said.

Then both Twilight and Flash started to spar with the Gypsy Danger team, which both did stumble a bit due to their new forms, but quickly caught on and began to fight back while the other rangers including the Wei Tang Triplets watched nearby seeing the match.

The Rangers and Marshall Pentecost saw that Flash was a veteran in his own right and Twilight was a beginner but was starting to show that she could hold her own.

"Both are not bad for beginners." Sasha said calmly.

"Yes, give both of them time and both will become excellent Rangers despite them both new to the game as I hope by Russian standards, they will be ready for when the Kaiju come knocking." Alexis said seconds later.

About a few hours later of both practicing on each other and by other Rangers which both put Twilight and Flash beyond their limits as they learned that the Kaiju were merciless which both needed to be ready for, both were done with the training as it was clear; both Twilight and Flash were drift compatible.

Stacker Pentecost then left to talk to the UN in another attempt to change their minds on the Wall of Life project. This prompted both Twilight and Flash to follow him which they stayed far enough back so he wouldn't notice them. The leader of the PPDC arrived at a communications room and started to talk to the UN leaders for about three minutes trying to get more help but was met with stiff resistance.

It was then that Twilight and Flash appeared with Twilight speaking first, "Marshall, who are you talking to?"

Both former Equestrians looked at the group of men and women of the UN who Stacker Pentecost told them funded the Jaeger Program, but gutted it and decided a wall was better despite it proving to be a dumb idea anyway.

Then Twilight spoke up first, "So, you're the ones who pulled the plug on the Jaeger Program and decided a wall was better?"

"No wonder your own citizens hate all of your guts right now you stupid idiots…” Flash said.

"Who are you two?" The USA UN representative asked.

"I'm Twilight Sparkle, former resident of the kingdom known as Equestria and a Ranger/researcher in training. I was brought here with my only friend left Flash Sentry standing behind me by Marshall Pentecost via Gypsy Danger and Striker Eureka to help with the Kaiju War effort." Twilight said.

Flash stepped forth and spoke, "Flash Sentry, I’m also a former resident of the Kingdom of Equestria and former Royal Guard; Pegasus Division."

"You did what Marshall?" The Canada UN representative asked.

"I said to myself that we didn't need you, but I had my remaining Research team build probe droids and find additional help which we've found two; a Pegasus Royal Guard and a unicorn both whom were banished from their home. The former was because he refused to carry out an execution order and for objecting to his order along with being accused of attempted murder, the second was for a crime which I believe she was set up, but I need more evidence to prove otherwise as well…" Marshall Stacker Pentecost said.

Marshall Stacker Pentecost then played the footage from the droid, which the UN representatives looked on to a mix of apathy and pity as the footage played on while Flash just silently glared at the UN representatives because he had a dislike for politicians since he was a colt.

Twilight spoke up moments later, "I tried to explain to them what went wrong and Flash was trying to help, but none of our friends listened and we were disowned by our own families!"

"Wait, what did you two do?" The Australian UN representative asked curiously.

Marshall Stacker Pentecost spoke up, "We don't know the full details of the crimes Flash and Miss Sparkle did here, but that'll be solved in due time which is why we need you to reconsider the Jaeger program and funding."

"Marshall, the plan will work it-"

The Russian UN representative was interrupted by Twilight who spoke, "Excuse me?! Are you that all bloody stupid or what?! That footage is why Flash and I were found! If it wasn't for him, both of us would've either taken our lives or been killed! He's given both of us something all of you fail to see; a family, a home, and friends we both can lean on! Let us help you folks out so not only can your group be saved along with your homes, but also so we both can return to our old homes! At least my former mentor Princess Celestia cared about her subjects regardless of who they were unlike you heartless jerks!"

"Yeah! What she said you jerks! What if these Kaiju invade Equestria? They could destroy our chances of returning to our home Equestria and blame both of us for it and/or being allowed to at least visit! The Jaeger program will continue regardless of your approval! If you say no again, we'll ask the citizens of the Pan Pacific nations for funding even if you say no! You want to know why you’re all hated greatly with a zero percent approval rating? It’s simple, you care for only yourselves and your fellow wealthy bingo buddies by making up excuses with the Wall of Life being a big one! The whole moving citizens inland is one massive joke along with that wall you’re wasting money on, it’s only the wealthy you’re wanting to save, but when the world is gone, how will wealth help you survive? Not very much, Raleigh told me that the wall’s working conditions are bad is another reason it is a waste of time that it is about as useful as pee-flavored popsicle. The Kaiju aren’t stupid as they’ll find ways around it or through it! If you think otherwise, go fight those Kaiju yourselves! Besides, your Moral Support is all, but gone something, you all fail to see clearly you dumb misguided fools!!" Flash shouted.

The China UN Representative then spoke, "Hold on! You both can't say that!"

"We can and we will because of your incredibly lack of empathy for your own citizens along with the obvious fact that all of you are more concerned about saving money and yourselves including your wealthy bingo buddies like what Flash said than saving lives of others including the poor is why I see no reason why that stupid, pathetic, mediocre wall should continue! These Kaiju no matter what you'll do, no matter how many walls you build, they will find you no matter where you hide and will kill you no matter how big you make that wall…" Twilight said.

The UN representatives were silent as Flash spoke a proposal, "How about this offer? An offer you can't refuse which is a 50/50 thing which half of the funding goes to that wall and the other half goes to the Jaeger program better yet, how about a bet? If we seal the breach before the long ass wide mediocre wall is finished, you will implement the offer or refund the Jaeger Program and cease that wall’s construction. If we fail to seal the breach and all remaining Jaegers fall, build that wall."

The UN representatives looked away and spoke among themselves for about five minutes as Stacker Pentecost, Twilight and Flash looked on hoping their words would at least get some form of help instead of what the PPDC had now. They then came to an agreement, which the Japanese UN Representative spoke on behalf of his fellow representatives though their egos had taken serious hits by the former Equestrian duo.

"Fine…both of you have a deal as we'll extend the funding by 18 months, but no more and will see to it that this Princess Celestia will be persuaded to let both of you return home. One last thing, if their abilities from Equestria are still present in their new human forms, they must work to earn our trust as until then, we'll be still skeptical of them."

The monitors winked out which everyone looked at Twilight and Flash whom both blushed slightly before leaving the communications room. As they walked, Twilight and Flash wondered what was going on back home but put those thoughts aside as they entered the hanger of the Shatterdome to clear their minds.

"Man, I rather listen to Rainbow Dash's bragging mouth than those jerks!" Twilight shouted.

"Same here, at least Princess Celestia actual gave a damn about her citizens unlike that league of dumbasses…they remind me too much of the Canterlot Elite…" Flash said.

It was then that both walked past the Russian Jaeger pilots who were busy working on Cherno Alpha while listening to Ukrainian Hardhouse music which the couple spotted the two Equestrians walking past them which Sasha walked up to them while her husband stayed back.

"Hard day?" Sasha asked.

Flash then spoke up, "Yeah, compared to Princesses Celestia and Luna along with Cadence, those upper-class dumbasses are complete jerks! They're just like most of the Canterlot Elite; a bunch of spineless, selfish, cowardly, arrogant, greedy backstabbing weasels! There wasn’t a day that didn’t go by that I didn’t hear them talking crap about us Royal Guards."

A shot of Vodka was passed to him that Flash spoke, "What's this?

"Yeah, what did you hand to us?" Twilight asked.

"Vodka to help ease your minds a bit." Alexis said as he was handing Twilight a shot.

"Hold on there, my big Russian bear, you don't want them to get drunk in case of a Kaiju attack?" Sasha asked skeptically.

Alexis just looked at his wife and asked, "Oh come on, what could go wrong?"

Nine drinks (or shots) later........

"Dear Princess Celestia! I'm never kissing a mare ever again!" Twilight said drunkenly.

"Funny how? Like a clown? How the (censored) am I funny?! Do I amuse you?" Flash said in a drunken matter.

Alexis nearby spoke, "Now, there's a pair who can't hold their liqueur."

"Twilight lost it after just six drinks while Flash just now lost it…" Sasha said while near Alexis.

Then Twilight spoke, "Dear (hic) Princess Luna (hic)! I'm (hic) never fucking a mare (hic) or stallion again!"

"Like I'm (hic) really (hic) going to (hic) eat a (hic) bunch of (hic) bananas after (hic) that?!" Flash said.

After stumbling around drunk like a pair of idiots while laughing like drunk skunks much to the amusement of everyone watching, both Twilight and Flash passed out cold on the floor of the Jaeger hanger with a bit of drool coming out of their mouths as they lay on the floor.

Wei Tang Jin got an idea and spoke, "Hey guys, lets draw on them!"

"No, I rather not get yelled at by the Marshall and let's let them sleep this off for now…" Wei Tang Hu said.

"Yeah, for all we know they could end up in the strangest of all places and they got so drunk, they make us look like saints." Wei Tang Cheung said seconds later.

Then suddenly both Twilight and Flash woke up for a second before everyone's eyes, Twilight teleported to the top of Crimson Typhoon's head while Flash drunkenly flew up to the same spot before passing out for good much to the annoyance of the Wei Tang brothers.

Both were carefully retrieved and placed in their quarters to sleep off the booze. A few hours later, both woke up with hangovers before both each walked up to a mirror and splashed water in their faces.

"Note to self, never accept a drink if you can't handle your booze…" Twilight and Flash said at the same time.

With that said, both decided to catch up on some reading before heading to lunch which afterwards, both continued to read books that were from the closed down Jaeger Academy wondering what would come next....
