//------------------------------// // Chapter 30 - Family Is Where Love Is Pt. 3 // Story: The Story Of Rainbow // by thedarktome //------------------------------// Scootaloo took the lead first into the museum with Silver Lining, followed closely by two of Rainbow's guards. They pushed the doors open, and slid inside after running on very slippery marble, eventually sliding to a stop in front of a desk that had two unicorns behind it doing something that Scootaloo couldn't see because the two were so small. They took a moment to look around the room at all of the statues, pictures, and items. Like chariots they had in the past behind glass boxes. "So...," Silver Lining muttered. "Your mom knows about most of this stuff?" Scootaloo shrugged in response. "Apparently. But we have to get her inside to actually find out." "Fluttershy, I don't wanna!" The two looked behind them at Fluttershy who was busy pushing Rainbow Dash into the History Museum with her head on her flank. The princess herself trying to turn around and run away with a look of horror on her face. "You are going to teach our daughter a few things about Equestria!" Fluttershy scolded. "And you are going to enjoy it!" "But I don't wanna be-" "Mother! What's that?" Rainbow stopped struggling and turned around immediately when Scootaloo called for her. She glanced where she was pointing, which was towards an apparent chariot that was made out of wood. Rainbow made her way towards the two fillies and began to explain. "That's a chariot made out of thick birch wood from the Everfree when it wasn't all congested with thick vines, mists, moisture, and creatures. Way before the nightmare moon era, they were used during the wars against...oh my Faust, I just turned into Twilight within ten seconds." "Amazing, your highness," Sweetie Drops praised as she walked towards the dense glass protecting the chariot. No doubt reinforced with runes. "Do you think Celestia rode in one of these?" "Either her or Luna," Rainbow replied. Turning to Silver Lining's parents, Rainbow asked, "Is it okay if she tags along with my daughter?" "Of course!" Golden Heights replied eagerly, quickly trotting over as fast as he could to the taller princess. "As long as we get to tag along as well." Rainbow Dash lit her horn and levitated the two fillies from the ground onto her back, causing Silver Lining to yelp in surprise for a moment before realizing what was going on. Rainbow sat the two fillies down, with Scootaloo grabbing hold of her neck and Silver grabbing hold of her new friend's shoulders. "Okay. Let's get this tour over with." Rainbow and Fluttershy led the group through the building while the two mares at the front desk were trying to figure out where they came from. Along the way, Scootaloo and Silver kept gazing and pointing things out that looked interesting to them. It was actually the weapons of what the Guard used in the past. As well as the different types of things sold in Canterlot, pictures of Equestria in the past. And Rainbow's personal favorite...the pictures of the Wonderbolts which she and Scootaloo were ecstatic over. "Oh, oh! Can we stop here, can we stop here?!" Scootaloo yelled while motioning towards the little mares room. "Looks like a certain little filly has to use the big mare's room," Rainbow teased. "What?! I'm a big filly!" Scootaloo retorted while Rainbow levitated her down. Once she was safely on the ground, she trotted into the bathroom muttering something about Princesses being too tall. Fluttershy followed in after her, leaving Rainbow Dash with the rest of the group and Silver Lining. "How are you enjoying the museum, Silver? Did you learn anything?" she asked the filly on her back. The only response she received was deep snoring since Silver was currently taking a nap with her head on Rainbow Dash's neck. "Yep, she learned to sleep," Green Grass commented while Rainbow levitated her off her own back and onto her mother's. She sighed and said, "Yeah, I'm definitely turning into Twilight. Is there anyway to get rid of the Egghead syndrome?" "I suggest you do not try any tricks while flying, Rainbow Dash," Fluttershy responded as she walked out of the bathroom with Scootaloo on her back. "But that's like the only way to get rid of it!" Rainbow complained. "Egghead syndrome is a real disease because Twilight has it really bad." "No, sweetheart. Now let's continue the tour so we can go to our date. You owe me a dinner." Rainbow scoffed before she lifted Scootaloo off her back and on to her own, then continued walking. "I thought this vacation was for me." "So I can't take advantage?" "No, but I can." "Selfish." "I love you too, Flutters." Fluttershy looked over at her while the princess gave her a living nuzzle, letting Fluttershy know she meant it. They went more into the museum to continue the tour, pointing towards this and that, and explaining that and this. Rainbow was trying desperately not to yell out, "Stop bowing" to everyone she walked past. Now she knew what Celestia had to go through. That and Luna. For thousands of years. The bowing was really annoying at a certain point. Eventually they came to the end and walked out of the museum after having spent nearly a whole day there. "Yes! Air sweet air!" Rainbow cheered as she flapped her wings and soared into the sunsetting sky and spun around, accidentally lighting her horn and growing the grass, spraying the water, blowing wind, and apparently causing lightning somehow that spooked her enough to yelp and stop. Scootaloo laughed and pointed a hoof at her from the ground, falling on her back and flailing her little hooves about. Rainbow looked back down at her from the sky, listening to her hard laughter. "Oh you think that's so funny, huh?" She asked with a smirk. She landed next to her giggling daughter then leaned down to her belly, blowing Raspberries. Scootaloo busted out in laughter, trying to push her mother's head away. "No! Hahahahaha!! Stop! Mercy, mercy!" "Well that's adorable," one of the guards commented stoically. After the stomach bubbling, Rainbow pulled back and picked Scootaloo up with her hooves, then pulled her into a hug. "I love you, Squirt," she whispered, nuzzling her cheek. "I love you too, mom," she replied, returning the gesture. "Now how about we get out of this loser-fest and hit the hotel, huh?" She placed Scootaloo on her back and made her way down the street towards the hotel, leaving Fluttershy behind before she realized what was going on. "Hey!" She yelled quietly, trotting after them. "Don't leave me, you crazy mares!" Sweetie Drops rolled her eyes and watched the group as they made their way back before following along with her unit. Rainbow Dash was half of her mother. That was evident. But apparently her father was a goofball. Definitely a goofball. Sweetie shook her head at the thought. She should probably expect some competitions between her and Scootaloo in the future during the Royals' spare time. Later on that night, Rainbow and Fluttershy were tucking Scootaloo in bed, the filly herself having gotten sleepy after a full day of exercise. Running around, jumping into the pool, swimming, and running some more. Even making Fluttershy and Rainbow wish they were that young again. Especially Fluttershy. She had some thoughts in her mind she wanted to speak to Rainbow Dash about. Very important ones. But that could wait. "What are we doing tomorrow?" Scootaloo asked her parents quietly, gripping the sheets that were tucked up to her neck. Rainbow leaned down and gave her a slow and loving nuzzle. "Well first, we're going to take a bath," Rainbow added a with chuckle. "Then...we're going to have some fun because I definitely need it. I feel like an Egghead still." Fluttershy smiled and rolled her eyes before she nudged Rainbow with her wing. "Then you and I are going to run around with Fluttershy to see what she wants to do. Because if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy...that's how it goes, right?" "Yes," Fluttershy confirmed quietly before bending down to Scootaloo's right side. "And then, we're going to make a special lunch for your mother. Just you and I. Okay?" Scootaloo nodded enthusiastically before the two parents leaned in and nuzzled her cheeks. "Get some rest, kiddo," Rainbow added as her eyes slowly drifted closed. "Princess Luna's going to give you some awesome dreams tonight." They kissed her on the cheeks before Scootaloo was lights out, breathing calmly. They pulled back and stared at her for moment, then turned around and walked towards the doorway, heading out of the room. After closing the door softly, Rainbow softly placed a wing over Fluttershy's back and guided her towards the kitchen and living area, where the date was setup. "Since I'm a princess," she said quietly. "I get a lot of mega rights wherever I stay. Including in the kitchen. Aftwr walking out of the kitchen, Fluttershy gasped at the wonderful spread on the kitchen table. There were fruits, vegetables, soup, bread in olive oil, wine, and candles surrounding the area. The lights were dimmed and everything was perfect. "It's beautiful, Rainbow," Fluttershy whispered as the Princess pulled a chair out for her. After Fluttershy got comfortable, Rainbow walked to her own and got settled. "Yeah, while you were talking to Scoots I grabbed everything from the kitchen and brought it up here." "No you didn't," Fluttershy deadpanned. "Yeah you're right, I had our guards do it. I got mushrooms, daisy sandwiches and soups. Not to mention..." Rainbow grabbed a nearby bottle and held it out in front of her, letting her read it. "Very expensive wine. It came out of my stipend. Non alcoholic of course. We're parents." Fluttershy chuckled and took a bite out of her food. "You get paid?" "I do." "But you're a princess." "Even Princesses have to contribute to the economy. That includes taxes. Yes the bits for our home is still there, as well as the climbing sum of money in my own pocket. But sometimes I like to spend my own money to buy things. Like your present for your upcoming birthday." "Somepony has great memory, I see." Rainbow chuckled and took a sip of her wine. "I have never forgotten a thing in my life." "What about that time when Rarity schesuled you a Spa appointment last week?" "Er, that's a completely different case." Fluttershy rolled her eyes as she moved onto the soup. Unaware that Rainbow was smirking at her. After taking a sip, Fluttershy gasped a little. "This...this tastes like my soup," she whispered before glancing up at Rainbow Dash's mischievous grin. "How?" "Well...I made it in the kitchen here," Rainbow said while smirking at her hoof. Fluttershy's face of disbelief turned into one of confusion, then admiration. "You...cooked?" "I dabbled. Your recipe is not easy to make. You know? You should-mmmm!" Fluttershy walked around the table and captured Rainbow's lips in her own, catching her off guard. Eventually she pulled Fluttershy closer into a warm embrace, and returned the kiss in full, giving her all she's got. After a breathless three minutes, Rainbow pulled away, giving her lidded eyes. "Somepony's frisky," Fluttershy whispered in her ear, then gave it a casual lick. "I think it's more like you who's frisky," Rainbow whispered back. "I can smell it. It's burning my nose." Fluttershy chuckled before wagging her tail, sending her scent around. "Well what are you going to do about it?" Rainbow leaned in close and planted her body with tiny kisses before getting to her ear and whispering, "Get on the couch and you'll find out."
