Moon Sugar : I'd hate to cause a Rift
Princess Celestia's sun was now suspended high above the clouds, and Twilight and Fluttershy were rambling around the Ponyville market square. Fluttershy wanted to get a fresh stock of carrots for her pets, and Twilight, needing a break from studying, decided to tag along. A few caravans and merchant ponies setting up their stores along their way caught the two ponies' attention.
‘’Hey, erm, Fluttershy? Let’s go see what those ponies are selling.’’
‘’Erm.... okay.’’
There were all sorts of different colored potions and pouches. Most of them were potions Twilight already knew about, like your average stamina potion, for example. However there were a few unique potions that caught the unicorn's attention.
"What's this?" Twilight asked and she picked a uniquely shaped vial of purple liquid.
"It’s Sleeping tree sap ma’am. Straight out from the spigot of the sleeping tree. This baby will give you the strength of over 9000 colts." replied one of the merchants as he walked towards her. He was a handsome earth pony with a chestnut coat, and a yellow hourglass for a cutie mark.
"I've never seen this potion before... Okay.. then what's in these pouches?"
"It's moon sugar." The merchant pony leaned forward to her ear, and whispered.
"Moon sugar..?"
"You don't know? It's... Well.. Let's just say it's not your average sugar. Oh, here, this one's on the house." The merchant pony said in a sneaky manner, as he shoved a pouch towards Twilight.
"Wow.. thanks? How much is one pouch?"
"Only fifty-nine bits."
"Fifty-nine bits!?"
"Well, we have to smuggle this through caves if we want to sell it."
"Okay... How much for the sleeping tree sap?"
"Only eleven bits for that one."
"I'll take two of those then." She levitated the saps into her saddlebags, and gave the merchant her bits.
‘’Pleasure doing business with ya. Oh, and you might want to put the sleeping tree sap in the fridge. It works best when it's chilled.’’ The merchant pony said with a smile as Twilight trotted away from their store, and Fluttershy followed suit.
‘’Erm.. Twilight, I don’t think those stuff looks very safe..’’
‘’Don’t worry Fluttershy, I can handle it. After all, I’ve been trained in alchemy since I was a filly.’’ Twilight declared with a surge of confidence.
‘’Okay.. just.. be careful.’’ Fluttershy squealed in timidity, as usual.
Fluttershy bought her carrots from a local vegetable store, and they continued to walk around for awhile more. Eventually they wished each other goodbye and parted ways, returning to their homes.

Twilight was now alone at the basement of her tree house. The purple unicorn double checked the doors to see if it was locked shut, she definitely did not want any baby dragons to interrupt her experiments. The tree saps were placed carefully in her kitchen fridge ( Which was the only fridge ), and she decided that before conducting any experiments, she would see what the books could tell her first. Using her magic she dragged the book 'Alchemist 101' to her desk and started to research.
Sleeping Tree Sap
One of the rarest potions, it comes from the only Sleeping Tree in Equastria, a kilometer northwest from the Everfree forest. The sap is collected from a spigot on the sleeping tree, but the elephants guarding it makes that a life-threatening task. When drunk, it can stimulate a pony for hours, varying on their bodies. Despite being a potent narcotic, it is legal in Equastria.
She flipped a few more pages, searching for the other product she got.
Moon Sugar
A grainy, refined powder grew from the canes of Fillydelphia's coasts. Used as a cooking spice, it has modest magical properties, and is also a strong narcotic, and is banned all over Equastria. When consumed, it can give ponies a high for up to a day.
"Woah." As much as Twilight wanted to deny the fact, she had just did business with drug dealers. She decided since the narcotics she got was both rare and one of them illegal, she would not let this opportunity go to waste. She concluded that today she would test the moon sugar first, and test the tree saps tomorrow. The science pony began to prepare her alchemy set, and placed all her potions and equipment on the desk. Carefully, she sifted the precious powder from the pouch to an experiment dish.
‘‘It can’t be that bad.’’ Twilight thought to herself. She dipped her hoof in the sugar, and brought it near to her nose. Giving a huge sniff, it smelled like.. nothing. ‘’Hmmph.’’ Subconsciously, she licked the moon sugar off her hoof.
‘’Wow. It is so sweet.’’ Twilight mumbled to herself. Her eyes widened a second later at the realization she just consumed an illegal drug.
‘’Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, what’s going to happen to me?’’ Twilight was panicking now, she was hopping madly on her hooves, her mind totally blank on what to do.
The moon sugar however, started to overtake her body. Twilight started to feel infinitely weak, making her collapse flat on the floor. Her vision started to slur, and everything was turning purple in color. The unicorn's brain was in a haze of endorphins, and she just felt like her whole body was melting, like butter on a hot stove. Waves and waves of pleasure flowed through her body, while she just laid there in her stimulated state of euphoria as the hours passed by...

‘’TWILIGHT!’’ Spike’s shout, in addition to the blatant banging on the door brought Twilight back to reality. The euphoric sensations were now mostly gone, she was covered in her own sweat, and a whole puddle of foamy saliva that leaked out of her mouth. The unicorn slowly got up, feeling horribly uncomfortable, and Spike banging the door unnecessarily was not helping at all. She felt fatigue all over her body, and her throat was completely dry. Dragging her lifeless body up the stairs, she opened the door, only to see his number one assistant with a genuinely concerned face.
‘’Twilight, are you okay?’’ Spike asked with a tone full of worry. Her hair was completely disheveled, and she just looked pathetically awful.
‘’How long have I been here?’’
‘’You’ve locked yourself in there for a whole day already!’’
Twilight was uttered speechless in disbelief. She lifted her head towards the window, and it was night time.
No way. I’ve been high for more than 24 hours?
‘’Is there anything I can help you with now?’’ inquired the little dragon.
‘’Nope, don’t disturb me, I’m need some rest now.’’
Twilight went to the kitchen, and quickly grabbed a glass using her hooves. Her body was far too weak to levitate any objects. She filled it with water and chugged it all down, giving her throat a glorious relief. The exhausted pony then forcefully carried herself upstairs to her bed, and slumped herself on it. She wished she could at least take a warm shower first, but her body protested in somnolence. The unicorn was now far too tired to fluctuate any thoughts, and it was not long before she dozed off into an uncomfortable but much needed sleep.
Note : Before any misconceptions, yes, this is a Skyrim reference.
