//------------------------------// // The Dream // Story: An Eventful Evening // by Devela //------------------------------// Slowly Rairty opened her eyes, fluttering her lashes a few times before looking around. Lavish gowns and suits were everywhere as everypony was dancing or mingling on the sides. Chandeliers filled with crystals hung in the domed ceiling above, candles inside each one, making it look as if stars sprinkled the ballroom. Rarity was confused for a moment before she began looking for her friends among the crowd. After a few minutes she didn't even see the girl of pink that would be bouncing around and making small talk with everypony. A frown was forming on her lips before she felt a soft bump at her hip. Rarity jumped a bit before looking back to see a black and white mask staring at her, the body behind it was covered in an eloquent dress with black lace stretching from the legs all the way back to the ground beyond the tail. Small red roses were scattered about lace with vines connecting then. Her chest was a piece of white with a sword wrapped by a thorny black rose with the flower being right over the handle. The whole dress looked magnificent to the fashionista, but she could tell instantly by the way it flowed and moved with the mare it was her own design and work that made it. After a moment Rarity smiled as she stepped back and nuzzled her head under the other mare's. Her horn scratching at the maroon fur. Soft purple light filled the air as she removed the mask and set it on a nearby table. Rarity moved to stare into those piercing cat eyes. "Why do you hide such a beauty behind a mask?" Velvet Rose sighed softly as she moved her own head to rub and nuzzle against the pristine white fur of Rarity's neck. "I am not always welcome in the presence of the princesses." Her voice didn't sound pleasant or joy filled as she kept her head resting on the back of Rarity's neck. Something about that seemed ominous and plain wrong to Rarity but the tone seemed like Velvet didn't want to talk about it. So for now the white mare simply nuzzled her neck until she heard the song slowly wind to an end. A beat began to fill the gap left by the previous song. It air reverberated with a deep pounding thrum. It drew the curiosity of the mare as she looked towards the stage to see Vinyl set up beside Octavia and Lyra. A single microphone stood before the three as they filled the air with their instruments. Something small and white with a dark purple dress began walking across the stage as the microphone seemed too low for a mare. Velvet smiled as she moved and stood beside Rarity before nudging her. "Let's go dance for the singer." Without waiting for an answer she was already walking towards the stage. It was odd as Rarity followed after her, looking around again for her friends before they both stood before the stage. A familiar face smiling down at the pair as she began humming softly. Sweetie's soft voice soon filling the air. "Oh the moon shines, up in the sky so bright. Won't you be mine, and dance with me tonight?" Velvet was smirking as she moved and bowed to Rarity, starting to sway some as she stepped forward and back. Her hooves seeming to shift as the bass thrummed. It took barely a second before Rarity was moving with her date, circling her as they danced. "To me your eyes, are like beautiful gems I will never say goodbye, you are my stem." Rarity giggled at those lines as she leaned in close, her forehead touching Velvet's as she swayed and circled with her. Velvet was smiling and blushing a bit as she flicked her tail in embarrassment. "I would step through fire for you. Let us always be together as two." A brow raised at that before Rairty heard the song start to fade away as did time. Velvet was leaning towards her with lips puckered and Rarity didn't know what to do so she took a deep breath and closed her eyes and leaned forward, awaiting the kiss.
