//------------------------------// // Episode 14: Reunited // Story: EoH Evolution: Season 2 // by Bahamut0 //------------------------------// Narico was curious. Night Fang had been training pretty hard with the other Elements of Heroism. But whenever Narico asked about who they fought that prompted them to start training so hard, Fang always seemed to avoid answering him. So, being the concerned little brother he was, Narico decided to talk to Fang about the matter. "Uh, Fang?" Fang blinked as he looked at Narico. "What's up Narico? Are those two bullies making more trouble for you and your friends? I can always act like a wild animal and scare them off if you want." Fang said with a chuckle. "No. It's about you actually." Narico said as he stared at the ground. "You told me that you and your friends got beat up by a bunch of really strong enemies and that's why you're all training. But each time I ask who you fought, you never tell me who." Fang sighed. I guess there's no use in trying to avoid this anymore. "Narico. . ." Fang said as he put a hand on Narico's shoulders. "The enemies we were fighting in that battle were a new gang of changelings. Each of them were based on a different bug, and they were stronger than the drones that came for you. They said they had come to get rid of us because we were a threat to their queen's plans. I think you know what happened from there. Each of us split up to face them, and I wound up fighting one that was spider-like." Fang saw Narico's eyes light up with recognition, and gulped. "And. . . she had your scent on her." Fang said while choking up a little. "Listen Narico. I hate to tell you this, but I think your 'big sis' might be someone I'm fighting against. But I think she's not completely onboard with fighting us. And when I asked her why she had your scent, she asked about you." Narico was completely shocked. "You saw my big sister?! Where is she?!" "I don't know." Fang said sadly. "Last I checked, she and those other mutant changelings ran off when Steel showed up and handed their butts to them. And we were fighting in the forest-" Fang was about to continue when he saw Narico bolting out the door and hastily disguising himself the second he was out the door! "Narico wait!" Fang was about to chase after him, but stopped. He's just a kid still. I can't expect him to fully understand everything that's going on. Fang thought to himself. Maybe I should give him some time alone. A few minutes at least. Narico needs to process this. And it's not something I can force him to do. However, Narico's hasty departure did not go unnoticed. Spike was out and about with the CMC and chatting with them about how things were going when the four of them saw Narico running towards the forest. "Hey, isn't that Fang's little brother?" Spike asked. Sweetie Belle nodded. "Yeah. He looked pretty upset too. Maybe we should see what's going on with him." She then grabbed Spike by the hand. "Come on! We can still catch up with him!" Sweetie Belle dragged Spike along with her and Scootaloo and Applebloom following right after her. The young drake blushing at the action. Soon enough, the four of them caught up with Narico. "Narico! Wait up!" Narico skidded to a halt, and was surprised to see the CMCs and Spike had followed him. "W-What're you all doing here?" "Easy there." Applebloom said calmly. "We saw you runnin' here lookin' mighty upset. So what's got ya down?" Narico nervously shuffled his feet. "Well, I've got a secret. And it's a pretty big part of why Fang adopted me." Narico looked at the CMC and Spike. "You're my friends right?" The four nodded. "Okay. Then promise me. Promise me that this won't change anything between us, alright?" "Narico, take it easy." Scootaloo said with concern in her voice. "Whatever it is, we'll be here. So just tell us what's getting you so upset." Narico gulped. "Actually, it's better if I show you." In a flash of green fire, Narico's disguise faded away. Revealing his true changeling form. "That time I scared Diamond Tiara was when you saw what I really looked like." "Dude. . . " Scootaloo said quitely. "THAT'S SO AWESOME!" Narico was utterly puzzled by the fours' reaction to his true identity. "I bet you and I can pull some epic pranks with your shapeshifting!" Narico blinked. "You're. . . just fine with this? Aren't any of you scare because I'm different?" "We're all a bit different too." Sweetie Belle said with a nod. "Heck, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon bully us because we don't have talent crests yet. You're different too, so let's all be different together." Spike smiled, and patted Narico on the back. "Nice to meet someone else who's outside of the norm for a change. But why'd you come to Unityville anyway?" "Well, life back in the changeling kingdom isn't exactly nice." Narico said nervously. "A lot of us look identical, and the only colors I've ever seen were black and green. All anyone ever talked about was how much love they'd gathered or how hungry they were. But I never really felt hungry like everyone else said they were. So I was always different from everyone. That's when I met my big sister. She and some of her friends were different too. And she told me to leave the hive. So I did. And that's when I saw the outside world. Nightmare Night was when I actually came here to Unityville and that's when I met Fang. And today, Fang told me he saw my big sister in the forest a little while back. So I ran to look for her. No luck so far." "Maybe we can help you out with that." Applebloom said with a big smile. "C'mon! We'll help ya look for her!" Narico was so happy to have friends who accepted him, and nodded his head in agreement. With that, the five of them took to searching the forest. Making sure to not journey too far into it. However, their search soon turned up an unwanted result. Namely, a cockatrice. "AH!" Applebloom as the creature hissed at her! Making her and the group backpedal. But right as the cockatrice was about to use its petrifying gaze on then, a shot of webbing stuck to its head! Before long, the cockatrice was wrapped up in a wad of webbing! Silk Snare lowered herself down her perch, and nodded in approval of her catch. "Looks like I'll be eating good tonight." But as Silk Snare slung her prey over her shoulder, she froze when she caught Narico in the corner of her eye. "Narico?!" Narico smiled sheepishly. "Eh heh! Hi Silk! What're you doing here?" "Just grabbing dinner." Silk Snare said with a shrug. She then smiled. "Glad to see you're in good hands." Silk Snare then saw Spike and the CMCs. "Looks like you've made some new friends too." Narico nodded, but soon frowned. "Silk? Why were you and your friends fighting my big brother and his friends? You're not one of the bad guys, are you?" "No Narico. And not all of the mutant changelings are friends of mine." Silk Snare said with a sigh. "Honestly? I didn't want to fight at all. But I don't have a choice in the matter. If me or any of the others goes against the queen, she'll lock us away in stasis cocoons again." Narico began to tear up. "Then just run away! Run away like you told me to! You don't have to do what she says if you don't stay!" "I can't. Because then she might make some of the others hunt me down." Silk Snare said sadly. "Me, Carapace, and Constrictor don't like it anymore than you do. But we're not your only family." Silk Snare saw Fang slowly approach them. "And you're not alone. That's all that really matters. Goodbye Narico." And with that Silk Snare shot out a stand of webbing from her hand and swung through the forest. Fang walked over to Narico. "Narico? Are you gonna be alright." "Yeah." Narico said with a sniffle before managing a small smile and changing into his disguise. "She cares about me. That's all that counts, right?" Fang gave Narico a small smile as he hoisted him onto his back as the group returned to town. "Yeah. As long as you're with people who care about you, you're always home."
