Octavia walked up to Vinyl's eardrum with the glob of cartilage in her arms. She smeared it over the crack and began to smoothen it out. she spread it all evenly around the eardrum's surface until it covered the eardrum evenly and smoothly.
Meanwhile outside, Vinyl was on the brink of giving up on Octavia when it happened. The constant soft static that had been filling her ears for hours suddenly stopped. What followed afterward was sound. Pure, clear sound. A tremendous smile slowly began to spread across Vinyl's face as she realized what was happening. Her eardrums were working again! Octavia stuck her head out of Vinyl's ear and gave Twilight the signal to lift her out and grow her back to normal size, and that's just what Twilight proceeded to do. When Octavia was back to her usual size, Vinyl proceeded to hug Octavia harder than she'd ever hugged her before. Octavia was startled by this choice of action, but soon joined in on the hug.
"Thanks, Octavia." said Vinyl through genuinely smiling lips.
"You're welcome. It's just what best friends are for." replied Octavia.
Twilight wrote a letter to Celestia about the good deed she'd helped Octavia and Vinyl do. "Thank you two for helping me learn more about the magic of friendship." she said.
As Octavia and Vinyl walked outside of Twilight's palace, Octavia turned to face Vinyl. "I hope you've learned yourself a lesson." she said.
"I sure have." said Vinyl. "From now on, I should play my music at 99999999999999999 decibels!"
Octavia's eyes widened in shock.
"I'm just kidding, 'Tavi!" said Vinyl.
They laughed and shared a hug before walking home together in the light of the sunset.
