Sly Cooper: Family of Thieves

Thievius: Last Call

With the way into the main building opened, and no additional guards came out to check out the noise they made in doing so, Sly and his sisters carefully walked into the building and followed the path that was in front of them, where they entered the lobby of the building and looked at what was around them. From what they could tell Bentley had already determined where the remainder of Muggshot's Treasure Keys were located and had already projected their locations to them, to which they made their way up the stairs that were in front of them. Of course they had to take out two plank wielding guards to reach the top of the stairs, but it made sense for Muggshot to want someone guarding this area, especially since there were two gangster dogs standing guard near some of the places they needed to go. The three of them then stopped at the construct that was in front of them, as it appeared to be a mug in the likeness of Muggshot's head, though all of them frowned for a few seconds.

"Would you look at that ugly mug?" Sly commented, as he was sure that someone had purposely created this construct in such a manner, though at the same time whoever had made it likely did so to get at Muggshot, no doubt for what happened to Mesa City.

"I am, and I find it infinitely fascinating." Bentley said, though him speaking up caused all three of the siblings to pull out their binocucoms, so they could see him while he talked to them, especially when his words confused them.

"Huh?" Sly, Gilda, and Derpy said, as they weren't incredibly fascinated by the ugly representation of Muggshot's head, though they were interested in why Bentley was so interested in it and knew that he would tell them why that happened to be the case.

"My x-ray detection devices reveal that a secret elevator is contained within that giant head." Bentley stated, to which the siblings glanced at it for a few seconds, as now their interests had been raised as they wondered what else their friend had to tell them, "One that's designed to go right up to Muggshot's penthouse."

"So how do we get in?" Derpy asked, though even as she said that she assumed that they needed the other Treasure Keys, as that was what they had to do back in Raleigh's place and figured that the same would be true here, but she wanted to see what Bentley had to say.

"Behind this locked wall, there's a level that summons the elevator." Bentley replied, to which their attention was directed to the area in question, which happened to rest behind a help desk that people would have approached had Muggshot not take the city, "But I don't need to tell you what you need to do so you can unlock it."

"We need the other three Treasure Keys." Gilda stated, though at the same time Bentley acknowledged that she was correct and the connection between them was cut off, to which they all put away their binocucoms and looked at the areas they had to go through this time, "Let's see here, knowing our luck Carmelita is already in one of these areas, since she's supposed to be somewhere nearby, and I have to hazard a guess that she's in the path to the left. Sly, since your the one interested in her, why don't you investigate that area and see what you can find?"

"That's fine with me." Sly said, as he would have volunteered for the area that Carmelita was in if they had spotted her in an area, though he wasn't going to question Gilda's thoughts on the matter, because she was generally right about these sorts of things.

"Derpy, you should take that entrance over there," Gilda continued, pointing to one that appeared to have an elevator nearby, one that would take her up to somewhere that was above where they were standing, "It seems that a Treasure Key is resting somewhere on the roof, so you should be able to get at it before Sly and I come close to grabbing our keys or the vaults in our area."

"Awesome!" Derpy said, though that was followed by her opening her wings before departing from their company, where they watched as she landed in front of the entrance Gilda had pointed out, completely bypassing the guard below her, before she headed into the area she was to explore.

Sly and Gilda chuckled as they separated from each other as well, though before they got too far Gilda turned around and knocked out the gangster dog that was blocking Sly's path, that way he wouldn't have to deal with it, before heading to her objective and headed to the area that it was connected to.

Derpy smiled as she rode the elevator to the roof of the building, where the large sign baring Muggshot's name happened to reside, as while she enjoyed exploring an area with her siblings she also enjoyed tackling an area on her own, as it proved that she was as skilled as her brother and sister. When the elevator arrived at it's destination she spotted a domesticated dog resting between her and the large glass container that was in front of her, to which she simply walked out of the way and let the dog chew on it's bone, as it wasn't interested in her at all. Instead of striking the glass with her cane, that either of her siblings might have done in her shoes, she studied the glass and listened to Bentley as he told her that the glass was too hard for a cane to smash through. That was, however, before she looked up towards the sky and spotted a wrecking ball that was located near where she and the case were standing, though when she voiced her opinion Bentley agreed with her plan to use it to get at the imprisoned Treasure Key.

With that decided Derpy explored the area and found a bottle that was resting on a car that happened to be suspended in the air, to which she jumped onto the car, grabbed the bottle, and returned to the roof, where she heard the sound of something detaching and noticed that the suspended car was gone now. She shrugged as she collected the clue in the bottle and continued her exploration, where she collected the two bottles that were on the wall to her right before heading to the back part of this area. Fortunately she found a card throwing guard standing guard over two safes, to which she flew behind him and knocked the guard out, allowing her to open the safes and claim the four clues that were waiting for her, before moving over to the neon sign that she could apparently climb on. She latched onto the tube and used it to climb to the part of the building that was above her, which she could have easily done with her wings, before she collected the bottle that was in front of her and then started climbing on the tubes that spelled out Muggshot's name.

The moment she reached the 's' in Muggshot's name she dropped down into the area below her, as she spotted some clue bottles from above, and gathered the pair that were right under the sign, to which she smiled as she sent the contents over to Bentley as she continued exploring. She then discovered two more suspended cars that happened to have some bottles on them, one a piece, and she carefully collected them and listened as they detached, removing them from her sight and the area as a whole. From there she approached the plank wielding guard from behind and knocked him out, allowing her to grab the pair of bottles that he was guarding, before heading towards a stack of tired and located another clue that was all alone. She then approached a water tower and stared at the hook that was off to the side, where she latched onto it and pulled with all her might, causing eight bottles to pour out into the area in front of her, which were collected immediately... along with the two in the safe that was off to the left of the tower and the other trio that rested on a ledge that she could have used to jump back down into the area she had been in a few minutes ago.

Once Derpy was sure that she got everything from this part of the area, and there weren't any clue bottles on the lower area, she latched onto the sign and continued jumping until she reached the structure that was behind the 't' in Muggshot's name... where she found two more clues off to the side and latched onto the pole at the very top of the structure, which eventually caused it to tip over and smash into a wall, destroying it and opening the way forward.

On the section of the roof that she had discovered she found a chain wielding guard and a plank wielding guard waiting for something to happen, so she knocked them out and claimed the bottle that was between them, before exploring the rest of the area that she was in. She then found a safe being guarding by a card throwing guard, who quickly hit the floor like all the others, and she gathered the pair of clues inside the safe, as well as the one that happened to be resting on another suspended car, though this time she ignored the sound as she moved away from the car. After that she returned to where the front of the one structure had crashed into and climbed the neon tube that she found, which allowed her to access a safe with another pair of clues, before she landed on the walkway that was in front of her. As she started walking forward, and collected the bottle that was in front of her, she heard an intercom come on and knew that Muggshot had a message for someone.

I got a personal message for the two-bit thief who's making off with all my Treasure Keys: you're dead, pally. Muggshot angrily said, revealing that, unlike Raleigh, he knew that someone was already stealing his things and had likely told his guards to be extra careful, or at least those that were guarding the keys and vaults that her siblings were currently going after at the moment, If I get my hands on you, I'm going to fit you with your own pair of cement bunny slippers. You hear me? You're lunchmeat, jerk!

The part about the message that interested Derpy was that Muggshot, like Raleigh, believed that there was one thief in his area, instead of three, to which she chuckled for a moment as she reached the end of the path, though the last part she jumped onto moved forward and smashed through the wall that was in front of her. That, in turn, allowed her to jump down into the area where the controls for the crane were located, as well as take out the card throwing guard that was nearby and claim two more clues, one that was inside the ruined building and one that was on a suspended car. When she realized that she had claimed thirty-nine clues, and still didn't have the code, she climbed up onto the glass tunnel and started to make her way towards her objective... only for her to turn around the moment she got the final clue bottle, as the vault was right behind her.

Once she reached the vault she dialed in the code, 4-6-8, and revealed a sight that annoyed her a tiny bit, as instead of getting a page from the Thievius Raccoonus she found the blueprints for Muggshot's additions to Mesa City... to which she sighed as she left the calling card behind, used the crane to smash into the glass case below her, as well as some other objects in the process, and claimed the Treasure Key. From there she sighed as she climbed back onto the elevator and descended back into the main building, hoping that Sly and Gilda had better luck than she did with their vaults.

Gilda walked out of the passage that she had been in and carefully smashed the window that was in front of her, as there was no way to safely remove it without the entire thing breaking, before she walked outside and found herself in what appeared to be the back alley for the area of the city that she and her siblings were in. She noticed that the path to the Treasure Key was basically a loop around the area, and that she could have easily spread her wings, claim the key, and gotten out of there if she was only interested in the one thing, but she wanted the clues as well. As such she turned to the left and followed the path that was in front of her, which included scaring a domesticated dog with just her eyes before claiming two clues that were behind the ladder that she had to climb up. At the top of the ladder she found that she could jump on the awning that was there, allowing her to get over the sign that Muggshot had set up there and collect the pair of clues from the safe, before using another one to move forward.

Using the awnings allowed her to reach an area with two more of the signs that she would have smashed, if she wasn't a thief, and found a trio of bottles waiting to be collected, though after claiming those she maneuvered herself behind a chain wielding guard and knocked him out, to which she moved forward with ease.

From there it appeared that she would have to jump on an air conditioning unit, destroying it in the process, to get at the clue that was hanging in front of her, but instead of doing that she opened her wings and easily claimed it, though she went a little further and flew up to another chain wielding guard. She knocked the guard out and claimed the pair of bottles that he was guarding, before she climbed back down the ladder and used an awning to bypass a searchlight that was in her way. Fortunately that allowed her to jump up to a walkway that was above a couple of gangster dogs and she turned off the alarm that was up there, though instead of heading back down she climbed the ladder that was in front of her and carefully made her way over the giant dog statues that were up there. Before she actually jumped over the statues, however, she did find a pair of bottles behind her, though as she crossed the path the statues created she found and recovered three more clues before she reached the end of the statues.

After that she encountered a small obstacles course with moving searchlights, to which she moved when the lights weren't near her and paused when they got close to her, before dropping down to the next level until she was on the third level and used the awnings to get over the searchlight and bypass the alarm at the end of the course.

Once she had gotten by the alarm she paused at a pair of awnings that had some rotating clue bottles that appeared to be attached to something, though she took a few seconds and carefully removed the five bottles that were in front of her, before she landed on the other side of a sign and sent the contents to Bentley. Gilda then noticed that there were three bottles resting between jumps in front of her, once more using air conditioners to move forward, so she simply used her wings and did things the easy way. She then landed on the walkway beneath her and moved into the area that a chain wielding guard was in and knocked him out, before collecting the two clues inside the safe and the one that was resting near a wall. After that she jumped up to the floor above her and knocked out the plank wielding guard that actually turned towards the hole she came out of, before grabbing the clue bottle and heading up to the final level of the building she was moving through, where the vault was located.

Fortunately two of the last three clues were near the second hole she jumped through and the final one, what she hoped was the final one, was right in front of the Treasure Key, so she collected it and headed back to the vault that was right behind her. That was followed by Bentley telling her that the code was 5-6-5 and her entering it, where she found the page of the Thievius Raccoonus that talked about Suzanne Cooper's notes on Water Safety, something that might come in handy in the future. With the page in hand, and the calling card left behind, Gilda removed the Treasure Key from the case it was resting in and headed back down to the entrance of this area, though as she did so she had to wonder if Sly had actually run into Carmelita or if they had beaten her to the punch and she never showed up.

Carmelita sighed as she carefully hid herself on the rooftop that she was standing on, as it had taken her some time and effort to actually get around all of the guards that were patrolling Mesa City and get up here, though the only reason she hadn't moved further into Muggshot's territory was because she had seen a key that was trapped in a case. She was sure that Sly Cooper, or either of his sisters, would show up at some point and would likely head towards the key, so she was biding her time until that happened. At the same time she took stock of what had happened back at the Isle of Wrath, as the guards leading up to Raleigh's fortress had been knocked out, bits of his treasure hoard were missing, according to the frog anyway, and all seven of his Treasure Keys were missing, as well as the contents of the safes that he had hidden away throughout the entirety of his fortress.

It had taken her and her fellow police officers a couple of days, and the entirety of their forces, to catalogue what Raleigh had while she filled out the paperwork to ensure he landed in jail, and yet she found no traces of the Cooper Gang being there, save for the calling cards... though her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the sound of some bottles breaking, where she mentally smiled as she revealed herself and found Sly Cooper standing on the building across from where she was standing.

"Well, well, well..." Carmelita said, though at the same time she locked onto her target and held her shock pistol at the ready, because she knew that Sly would take the first opening and flee when he had the chance, "look who just walked into my crosshairs... Sly Cooper!"

"About time you showed up, Ms. Fox." Sly replied, again with the same smile that was always on his face whenever he talked with her, regardless of whether or not his sisters were around to witness what he was doing, "I was getting worried about you. Thought you took a wrong turn somewhere back in Paris."

"The only one making wrong turns is you, Sly." Carmelita stated, though at the same time she made sure that the safety on her weapon was off, as she sensed that the chase was going to start soon, "I'd suggest you surrender before I paralyze you with my good friend, the shock pistol."

"Now see, a girl whose best friend's a firearm's got issues." Sly said, as he knew that Carmelita liked her shock pistol more than the other cops he had encountered over the years, though he was pleased to find that she wasn't getting terribly annoyed at him yet, "A little dinner, a little dancing, I think I can help you out."

"Mmm. Sounds romantic." Carmelita replied, though at the same time she was only stalling, as she had no interests in even dating someone like Sly, while she started to move her shock pistol into position so she could end this before her target moved from where he was standing, "As long as you don't mind dining... in jail!"

"Nah, I hear the service is lousy." Sly commented, as if he was actually planning the 'romantic' encounter that he had been talking about, though out of the corner of his eye he noticed Carmelita's arms moving and knew what was coming his way in the next few seconds.

"Once I catch you, you'll know for yourself!" Carmelita declared, though even as she said that she fired at Sly, who instantly moved out of the way and jumped towards the roof that was near the one he had been standing on the entire time, causing her to move as well.

As Carmelita jumped to the next roof she spotted Sly quickly gathering some sort of green bottle, three that were out in the open and two from a blue safe, though as she fired at him he used some really bouncy mattresses to get him high enough to use the water tower that was near him, while avoiding her shock blasts. Carmelita knew that Sly was hard to hit, as she could perfectly score when she was in the training area, but Sly was faster than what most people gave him credit for and proved to be one step ahead of where she loosed a shock blast to. She aimed at one of the spires that were on the sign that Sly was heading towards, though her blast simply missed because Sly seemed to know that it was the obvious choice and backed off, causing her to shift her gaze as he moved forward.

She then followed Sly as he crossed over a trio of roofs and landed on one that had a clothesline, though as she fired at him he simply jumped up onto the walkway that was above him and headed over the pole that connected the building he was on to the one in front of him. Unfortunately she lost him for a moment, when he slipped into the building that was along whatever path he was following, though since she couldn't go in there, because if she did she knew that she would lose him entirely, Carmelita carefully jumped along the buildings that were around her and made her way to the ruined back of the same building that Sly headed into. A few moments went by before she found Sly dropping down onto a part of the ruined area she was staring at, where she opened fire at him and broke part of the area in the process, though despite that fact Sly kept moving along the path in front of him and she continued to miss.

The two of them made their way across the ruined section of the building, with bits and pieces falling either because of Carmelita's shock blasts or because Sly touched something, before Carmelita landed on a blown up version of Muggshot and aimed at Sly, only for the connection between her ground and the buildings to break, causing her to drift higher than the buildings as she growled. She would get Sly soon enough, she knew that much, though she had the feeling that he and his sisters wouldn't be in Mesa City when she and her fellow cops came to bust them later... though Sly did smile and wave at her as he claimed the key, before he left the area.

Sly quickly made his way back to the entrance of the area that he was in, where he was fortunate to find an actual pathway that wasn't ruined, before he entered the main building and found his sisters standing near the secret elevator, who were holding the Treasure Keys they had grabbed. He smiled as he headed down to the area that his sisters were standing in and watched as they smiled as well, though they were all focused on the task at hand and the person they would be fighting soon enough.

"I see you found the other keys," Sly commented, though at the same time Gilda and Derpy gave him the keys they had acquired, given them enough to open the lever for the secret elevator, "what pages did you two find?"

"I picked up the notes of Water Safety," Gilda replied, also handing over the page in question, before patting an unhappy Derpy for a few seconds, which let Sly know what happened, "unfortunately Derpy ended up finding Muggshot's blueprints for his additions, and she's not happy about that."

"Well, I picked up the Thief Replica technique," Sly stated, though once he said that he moved down to where the locks were located and unlocked them, before pulling the lever and revealing the elevator that Bentley had pointed out to them earlier, where all of them smiled for a moment, "It's time we paid Muggshot a visit and improve our moods."

Sly, Gilda, and Derpy walked into the elevator that was in front of them and let it carry them up to the penthouse, where they were sure Muggshot was resting at that very moment, though at the same time they prepared themselves for a fight, especially since he wasn't going to be happy to see them. When the elevator came to a stop the siblings emerged from the shaft and headed down the stairs that were in front of them, where they found a number of mirrors resting in the area between them and the throne that Muggshot happened to be sitting on.

"What? My boys have been yapping about some mysterious group running around cracking skulls and, and this is it?!" Muggshot said, though his tone indicated that he couldn't believed that the trio was what his guards, ones they must have missed in the various areas, had told him about, "You three are the monkey wrench in my operation? Some scrawny rats with some sticks... wait a second... I've seen that stick before."

"Maybe when our father knocked your block off with it." Sly replied in kind, as he was sure that their father had hit the big dog with the cane that later became Sly's, as well as the inspiration for Gilda and Derpy's canes.

"Your father? Wow, you're all Coopers?" Muggshot inquired, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing, though at the same time the trio knew that something was coming and prepared for whatever that something happened to be, "You know, that Thingus Raccamagoocus had a lot of nice pictures but way too many big words."

"So you don't mind just handing it over." Derpy said, as she was hoping that Muggshot, who didn't seem to care about the pages he had taken at all, would simply hand them over and they could figure out where the next member of the Fiendish Five was located.

"What are you kidding?" Muggshot angrily said, though his tone indicated that he was annoyed with them, confirming that they would be in for a fight, just like with Raleigh earlier, "You break into my place, steal my stuff, trash the joint, I feel transgressed and violated. Let's rock!"

Muggshot walked down from the throne he was sitting on and raised his pair of guns, the ones they had read about in his file, before he fired into the air as nine crystals erupted from the floor around them, oddly enough eight of them were in front of the eight mirrors. Gilda and Derpy, knowing that Muggshot would start firing soon enough, opened their wings and took to the skies, where they found that Muggshot was actually aiming at them and not Sly, deeming them the more dangerous targets instead of their brother. At first they ignored the mirrors, thinking that the obvious choice was be a trap of some kind, but as they smacked their foe with both of their canes they discovered that Muggshot wasn't bothered by their attacks, causing Sly to nod his head as he realized what they needed to do. While Gilda and Derpy flew through the air, narrowly avoiding the bullets that Muggshot was firing at them, Sly moved around the area and rotated the mirrors into place... where the focused light caused his pair of guns to overheat, to which he angrily marched over to the elevator behind him and went to the floor above him.

When the siblings reached the next floor they found that Muggshot was now aiming at Sly, no doubt figuring that he was the real opponent he needed to take care of, though in the end that was the wrong thing to think about, as while his attention was on Sly both Gilda and Derpy flew around the area and rotated the mirrors into position. From there Muggshot moved to the chandelier and picked up his third, and last, pair of guns as the siblings used the elevator to catch up with him. This time around he tried to fire at all three of them, but with only two guns and the sisters flying around the air, while Sly used the Ninja Spire Jump to move around the chandelier, he found that he couldn't effectively target any of them... allowing the siblings to rotate the final set of mirrors into position and overheat his guns, while at the same time causing him to collapse on the chandelier.

"This is impossible!" Muggshot declared, though at the same time he stared up at the trio as they gathered around him, as they knew he would say something about their next target, "A group of pipsqueaks like you beating a big strong bruiser like me? It ain't right! You want all of that stupid picture book, you're gonna to have to go down to Haiti and cross paths with Mz. Ruby. And then believe you me, you don't want to be you!"

Gilda and Derpy carried Sly down to the first floor of the penthouse and found Muggshot's safe behind the throne that he had been sitting on, where the group smiled as they found the pages detailing Tennessee Kid Cooper's Rail Walk and Rail Slide techniques... though with the location of Mz. Ruby's base in mind the trio departed from Mesa City, where their smiles remained as they noticed Carmelita and her forces heading into the city, meaning that soon the city would be freed from what Muggshot did to it and it's people.
