Soccer Practice

Soccer Practice

It was a normal day, like any other. School had just finished, and you were out on the bleachers tuning your guitar while also watching your girlfriend, Rainbow Dash, kick ass on the soccer field. Your friend sat next to you, playing his drumsticks along with the song being played in his ears. You would occasionally glance up to see Rainbow score goal after goal, completely disregarding the fact that it was only practice, then back at your tuner as you tried to get all of your strings perfectly harmonized.

"Damn, bro." Your friend said to you. "Shes really good at soccer."

You looked at him staring at the field. "Yeah, she's athletic and competitive." You said.

"She's intimidating." He replied.

"Oh, trust me... I know." You said grabbing your guitar pick and playing the A chord. "Hey, what do you think about this?" You asked your friend while getting ready to play a little pattern you had in your mind. You strummed the A chord while switching between D and G.

"It sounds nice, when did you come up with it?" He asked.

"A few days ago." You said. "I don't have any lyrics yet." But that wasn't true. Deep down, you knew what the lyrics that went to it were, but you didn't want to say it for fear of sounding silly.

"Well, maybe you should let Rainbow hear it, and then we could all learn and practice it." Your friend suggested. It sounded like a good idea, but this wasn't one of the songs you wanted to fully share.

You decided to put your guitar down now that it was fully tuned and watch Rainbow play the last few minutes of practice. You observed her footwork, and how good she was at juking others with the ball. But staring at how she maneuvered her legs, you noticed something... her shoes were untied.

You saw the whole thing unfold before your own eyes. You watched as Rainbow had caught one of her laces with her opposite foot, and was unprepared to brace for the fall. You stood up concerned when you saw her hit the ground, it didn't look good. You ran out onto the field as everyone else gathered around her.

"Rainbow, you good?" One of her teammates asked.

Rainbow opened her eyes and saw her arm in front of her. From first glance, it looked fine. "Yeah, I thi-" As she tried to sit up, she felt the sudden sharp pain that hit her arm. She almost cried, at the pain, but she held it back in front of everyone.

You made your way to the field and squeezed through the crowd surrounding her. "Rainbow!" You said in anxiously. "Are you alright?" You asked kneeling down to her. You put a hand on her shoulder and saw her tightly grabbing her elbow. You saw a tear escape from her tightly shut eyelids, but her head was tilted downwards to hide it from everybody else.

"Ta-ake me to the nurse, P-Please." You heard her say through her cracking voice.

Hearing the pain in her voice, you immediately clear everyone around her and help her get up. She leaned on your shoulder as both walked across the field to the nurse's office. You rubbed her shoulder, comforting her, but it didn't do much to help with the pain.

-------------------------

You waited outside of the nurse's office while Rainbow Dash got her arm checked. You paced back and forth anxious for results. Because of your worried pacing, you didn't see your friend making his way to you.

"Hey bro!" He yelled at you from down the hallway. He was carrying Rainbow's backpack as well as yours and your guitar which you had left out on the bleachers. "You forgot this." He said handing to you.

"Thanks." You said back blankly, still focused on Rainbows arm.

"So, what happened?" Your friend asked. "It looked pretty bad."

"Yeah," You responded. "I saw her holding back tears, I think she may have busted her elbow."

"A joint? Yikes. If it's really bad, she may need immediate surgery." He said. "You know, If you do need me to help you or with anything just lemme know okay? I gotta get going." He gave you a fist bump and started walking back down the hall.

"Peace out." You said to him as he walked away. You kept pacing for a few more minutes before realizing you had your guitar, perfectly tuned and just... sitting there. You picked it up and sat down leaning against the wall. You remembered the rhythm in your head and played the chords accordingly. You mumbled the lyrics under your breath as you played.

See you standing, see you walking down the hallway
I've been thinking about you and me, all day
You're so beautiful that I can't concentrate
Whenever you're around I cannot keep my head straight

Saying these lyrics reminded you a lot about the Battle of The Bands. The night you and Rainbow first kissed, and the unpleasant events that unfolded shortly after. But everything worked out in the end, and those were some of the best memories you had ever experienced. You chuckled lightly at some of the thoughts that went through your mind. They were cut short, however, by Rainbow coming out of the office. She had not a cast, but a splint immobilizing her right elbow completely.

"Well? What happened?" You asked getting up.

"Nurse says I got lucky," Rainbow said sighing. "I dislocated my elbow, but only partially. I won't need surgery but I have to wear this splint for three or more weeks and after the first, I can practice elbow bending exercises." She said picking up her backpack. You put down your guitar and helped her put it on. "Thanks." She said sadly.

"Did they give you painkillers?" You asked.

"Yea, but only for today." She replied. "What sucks is that now I cant play sports or any music." She said looking downward. She was really bummed out about her injury, but you were going to help her feel better.

"Well, hey. Don't worry." You said placing a hand on her shoulder. "Three weeks will fly by like nothing, and I'll be here for all of them." You put on your backpack and put your Coltson guitar back in its' case. "If you want, we can go get something to eat before we go home?"

"Sure." She said shrugging unenthusiastically, "I guess I'm a little hungry."

You knew how upset Rainbow was because of how limited she was to what she could do. Her arm injury was not just on her elbow, but her right elbow. She was going to have to do all her school work online, and she wouldn't even be able to perform daily tasks without help. You felt bad about her injury and it hurt even more to see her this sad, but luckily you had something hidden up your sleeve. You grabbed your guitar case and walked alongside Rainbow off of the campus and headed towards a diner on your way home.

-------------------------

"Hello, how are you doing today?" Asked the waitress taking out her notepad.

"Just swell." Said Rainbow sarcastically.

"Well would you like to hear the specials, or do you know what you'll be having?" She asked.

"Um, I'll take a hot chocolate." You said. You looked to Rainbow who was just staring out the window.

"I'll take a breakfast," Rainbow said. She rested her head on her left hand and sighed.

"Very well, I'll be with you in a moment." The waitress said, checking off her notepad then attending to the next customer.

You looked around the restaurant which was pretty quiet, then back to Rainbow Dash who just looked blankly into the setting sun.

"Rainbow," You said. "I know it sucks to be in the situation you're in, but always remember that it could be worse." You said trying to cheer her up... but it backfired.

"Oh right, it could be worse right? I could've dislocated my knee or cracked my spine, but that still doesn't change the fact that I'm gonna be miserable for THREE WEEKS! MAYBE MORE!" Rainbow yelled. Everyone in the diner turned their attention to the booth you sat at, it was a very uncomfortable feeling.

"Ok, I see your point, but that's not what I meant." You said passively. "If you had dislocated your knee, you'd be on crutches, and those would be annoying to take with you. Not to mention stairs." Rainbow looked at you for a few seconds, then scoffed and looked back out the window. "Look, I'm sorry." You said. "I didn't mean to anger you, but it doesn't have to be all bad."

Rainbow looked back at you and sighed, "I'm sorry too. I just hate how I cant practice guitar until my arm gets better. Im gonna be so rusty after these three weeks."

"Well, then we can practice together." You said holding her hand.

"I guess you're right," Rainbow said smiling lightly. "It could always be worse."

You looked deep into her eyes, she looked into yours. You were captivated by this familiar feeling of the entire room going silent. The feeling of being in the moment while also away from reality. It was only you and Rainbow Dash staring eye to eye. Its a feeling of not being aware, but knowing all of your surroundings. It's one that no one ever wants to leave, but is forced to when reality breaks the silence.

"Here you go." The waitress said putting down the plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast, alongside a cup of hot chocolate.

"Thank you." You said to her. "You took a sip of the chocolate, and then saw Dash, who was staring at her food with a baffled look on her face. "Whats wrong?" You asked.

"I just realized..." She said hopelessly, "How am I gonna eat this?"

Her sudden words clicked in your mind and deep down you wanted to laugh. After all, it was a little funny realizing her situation, but you hid your light smile behind your drink.

"Well, I mean..." You started to speak, "If you want, I could-"

"No." Rainbow cut you off mid-sentence already knowing what you were going to suggest. "You are not going to feed me." She said strictly.

"Ok, suit yourself." You said back, still hiding your smile.

You watched as Rainbow attempted to grab her eggs with the fork in her left hand. The plate rattled and moved slightly with each attempt. She finally managed to grab a piece of egg with the fork and was about to eat it when it fell back onto her plate as if it never happened. Rainbow looked at you and saw your now obvious smile through your cheeks. She sighed with her head down and admitted defeat.

"Fine." She said. "But you will tell no one about this."

You nodded your head in agreement and grabbed the scrambled eggs onto the fork. You held it up to her face which was filled with embarrassment and frustration. Still, though, a slight smile appeared on her face, and she ate the food. Your smile turned to a light chuckle between the both of you.

"You know what? I'm just gonna eat the bacon and toast." She said chuckling.

"Oh come on, isn't it romantic though?" You asked playfully, "Couples do this all the time."

"Well if the circumstances weren't the way they are... then maybe," Rainbow said grabbing a piece of toast and taking a bite.

You just continued to drink your hot chocolate for five more minutes before paying the check. Then you and Rainbow Dash both proceeded to walk home.

-------------------------

As you walked by Rainbow Dash's house, she offered you to come inside. Obviously, you weren't going to refuse. She opened the door and went inside, you closed it behind her. Her parents weren't home, and the house was very quiet. She led you upstairs to her room, where she dropped her backpack off and sat on her desk chair. You also dropped off your backpack and sat on her bed.

"So..." You said awkwardly.

"So..." She replied. "I saw you tuning your guitar at practice."

"And I saw you kicking ass at practice." You responded.

"Hey, do still remember the Battle Of The Bands?" She asked.

"Of course." You replied. "How could I forget? That day and the days leading up to it were the best of my life." You said smiling.

Rainbow laughed. "Yeah, and those love songs you wrote were so..."

"Cheesy?" You asked cutting her off.

"No... sweet." She said. "Music that describes you or what you're feeling can never be cheesy, that just shows you have emotion. Those songs showed me you cared, and I know how much I attracted you." She said teasingly.

"Hey! I was... not that confident back then." You said defensively embarrassed.

"Oh, I know, I was just kidding!" Rainbow said giggling. She looked at your backpack. "Have you been writing lyrics?" She asked. "I know you write them when you're bored, or when you just want to pass the time."

"Uh..." You hesitated. You weren't completely sure where this conversation was headed, but it wasn't in your instinct to lie. "Yeah, I mean... I've written maybe one or two songs." More like one or two million. You filled three school notebooks with both complete and half-finished songs. Your head was a rhyme machine, and it wouldn't turn off. There were times where you would stay up whole nights writing and humming along each lyric that came to your mind.

"Well, since I cant play guitar..." Rainbow said sneakily. It was at this moment, you realized the trap she had caged you in. "Maybe you can play one of your songs for me?" She asked kindly. It was bad enough she was guilt tripping you with her arm, but her eyes... "Goddammit!" You thought. While she was your girlfriend, it was extremely uncomfortable showing her your songs, they were corny and cheesy, and to you, they were more embarrassing than baby photos.

"Uh... I'm not sure, They Uh, I mean... fuck" You said panicking.

"Oh come on," Rainbow said getting up and laying down next to you. "Pleeeeeeeeeease?"

You started to blush as she stared at you. You were screaming inside at the events that were about to unfold. "Fine." You said nervously. You picked up your guitar and pulled out your notebook. You flipped through the endless pages of lyrics until you found the right one. You saw in the notebook chords written above the letters. Of course, you had only been experimenting and weren't completely sure if they worked fully.

"Uh, Rainbow." You said, "Just know that this song is not done yet."

"I don't care, I want to hear it." She said leaning on your shoulder. "You have to remember, It doesn't matter if it's good or bad, I'll love it either way." She said comforting you.

You put your fingers on the second fret, starting off on A minor. After that, you transition to C, then F, then back to C. You repeat this three more times before actually starting the song.

See you standing, see you walking down the hallway
I've been thinking about you and me, all day
You’re so beautiful that I can't concentrate
Whenever you're around I cannot keep my head straight
And I never thought that we would even be here
We started off as friends and now I'm singing in your ear
These songs that I'm embarrassed to share
But with you, it doesn’t matter because I know you care

And I don't wanna go anywhere without you
This feeling between us I know that's strong and true
You are my confidence, you are my strength to fight
Let’s just enjoy each other every night side by side
You're what I need, my medicine, my will to breathe
You opened up my eyes and now I cannot go to sleep
So if you wanna go out sometime just let me know
And we can go, enjoy the night

I remember how it felt not being able to talk
I was so nervous around you that I could barely walk
But one thing is for sure, I never expected this
That you and I would just sit side by side and reminisce
I've got my scratched guitar with me wherever we are
You're more beautiful than a sky of a thousand stars
And you're the greatest thing to happen without a doubt
So If you want I can show you just what I'm all about

And I don't wanna go anywhere without you
This feeling between us I know that's strong and true
You are my confidence, you are my strength to fight
Let’s just enjoy each other every night side by side
You're what I need, my medicine, my will to breathe
You opened up my eyes and now I cannot go to sleep
So if you wanna go out sometime just let me know
And we can go, enjoy the night

You finish up the song most awkwardly. You look to your right at Rainbow, who was blushing and smiling. It was clear she liked the song, but you weren't sure if you did.

"Yeah..." You said awkwardly. "The song is still a work in progress." You said putting away your notebook. "I mean, I'm not even sure if the chords work, the song is really short, and-" You get cut off by Rainbow put her fingers on your lips.

"Don't worry about it." She said. "I've already told you, I don't care how good or bad it sounds, I like it because it's from your heart. The song expresses how you feel and that to me is better than any chart-topping love song." She said looking directly into your eyes.

You could see her eyes filled with lust, her face filled with embarrassment from all of the compliments in your song. She smiled and sighed looking downward for a second, then back up at you. You just looked at her smiling and started to lean towards her. You watched as she also leaned towards, her eyes closing slowly. You also closed your eyes and anticipated your lips meeting each other. When they touched, your heart fell back into heaven. Your right hand held her left, and your left hand held the back of her head. The kiss went on for a few more seconds before Rainbow broke it.

"The song was really sweet." She said, "But I have things to do and I don't know how I'm going to do them with this arm." She said starting to stress out.

"Well, what needs to be done?" You asked trying to calm her down. "I'm always eager to help."

"Homework, but I can get that done on my laptop. It's mainly just chores and..." She froze.

"What?" You ask.

"Um, nothing." She said starting to blush again.

"Come on, tell me." You said putting aside your guitar and standing up. It suddenly clicked in your mind her dilemma, and why she didn't wanna say anything. It was a little embarrassing, after all, no one would ever ask someone to do this favor for them.

"Oh," You say realizingly. "Well... if you want, I can-" You start to talk but then get cut off.

"No. No, no, no, no, no a million times no." She said strictly. "Feeding me is one thing, but you are not..." She looked at you, realizing no matter how much she hated it, she had no choice. After all, it was late and all of her friends were busy. She looked down and sighed. "I can't believe I'm about to let you do this."

"I mean, whats the big deal? I've already seen you..." You asked curiously.

"Oh no, that's not the point." She said. "I don't mind you seeing me naked, what I do mind is someone doing something for me that I would normally do myself. Especially something like this... it makes me uncomfortable."

You knew that she had no choice in this, but you didn't want to make her uncomfortable. "Well, if it's uncomfortable for you, then I don't have to if you don't want to, and if you want me to, I can go."

"No... stay." She said. "Just, gimme a second." She sat down on her desk chair for a few seconds thinking. She then looked back up at you. "Promise me, this remains a secret."

"Promise."

-------------------------

You sat on her bed, waiting while she got undressed in the bathroom. Your erection was becoming clearly visible as you anticipated what was about to happen. You looked all around her room, trying to take your mind off the wait. You heard the water turn on from the other side the door. You couldn't believe you were gonna do this, your heart was racing. When the water stopped, you stood up and waited for your call.

"Ok!" Rainbow said from the other side of the door.

You opened the door slowly to and saw her clothes laying on the ground. You looked to your left and saw her sitting in the bathtub laying back with her eyes closed, her bra and panties still on.

"You know, I never really use this bathtub, but just sitting down in the water is actually pretty relaxing. Do you take baths?" She asked looking at you.

You were hesitant to respond, as you were caught staring at her breasts. "Huh? Uh... no. I don't have a bathtub." You sat on the edge of the bathtub, grabbing the soap and soap cloth, lathering it with foam.

Rainbow Dash smiled and gave you a smug look. "I'm turning you on aren't I?"

The question caught you completely off guard and made your face turn completely red. "Uh, no... maybe." You said stuttering.

She suddenly reached between your legs and felt the bulge. You let out a small groan as you felt her touch.

"Very subtle." She said sarcastically.

"Well I'm sorry, but it's not my fault you're incredibly attractive." You said in defense. You finished lathering the cloth. Rainbow leaned forward as you placed the cloth on her back, and washed in a circular motion.

"Look, thanks for everything you've done for me today," Rainbow said. "You always help me out in times I'm too stubborn to admit."

"It's never a problem Rainbow, I'd do anything for you." You told her. You saw her smile slightly as her head turned away. You put the cloth aside and gently poured water on her back to wash off the suds. "So, is there any other part of your body that I can help you with? Your hair perhaps?" You offer kindly.

"No, thanks." She replied. "I can handle it from here."

You placed a finger under her chin and lifted her head up to look at you. You then leaned in for another passionate kiss. The kiss lasted for about thirty seconds, both you and her had eyes closed. You slowly parted lips and made eye contact again. "You sure?" You asked.

Rainbow smiled and giggled lightly at your question. Her left hand made its way to your chest, and she could feel your heartbeat. You were so caught off guard by her smile that you didn't feel her hand apply force to your chest, shifting your weight and falling into the bathtub, completely soaking your pants and lower part of your shirt. Your reaction was a mixture of shock and surprise, while Rainbow, on the other hand, was laughing as hard as ever.

"What the hell?" You said surprised. "How am I gonna get home with wet pants? These things will take forever to dry!"

Rainbow looked at you with teasing smile. "Well then, I guess you'll just have to stay and enjoy the night."

Your eyes widened at her words. "Oh, you're evil." You said chuckling.

She chuckled back as she leaned forward to kiss you more. You knew she was full of surprises, but you never expected something like this. The night went on with you and Rainbow, and it managed to become one of the best nights of your life. In your mind, you couldn't help but anticipate each day of the three weeks that you would be spending with her, and you were happy that this was only the first day.
