Vinyl was taken to the hospital.
"Open wide!" said Nurse Redheart as she held a popsicle stick in her hoof.
Vinyl's eyebrow raised. "What did you say?" she asked? "I couldn't quite hear you."
Nurse Redheart appeared to know exactly what to do after that. She quickly grabbed Vinyl's right ear and took a peek into it. "Aha!" she exclaimed. "There's a problem with her eardrums!"
Octavia looked her in the eyes. "And what's the problem?" she asked.
"Her eardrums are BROKEN!" said Nurse Redheart. "There's a big crack that goes straight down the middle of the surface of it!"
Octavia didn't know what to think. Would Vinyl never be able to hear again? What to do? Octavia wrote it down on a sheet of paper so Vinyl could see what had happened. As soon as Vinyl saw Octavia's words, she burst into tears. "How will I ever be able to listen to my wubs again!? What kind of a DJ could I be!!!?" she asked herself aloud. All Octavia and Redheart could do was feel sorry for her.
Octavia and Vinyl went home, both saddened. Vinyl, in hopes to cheer herself up, decided she'd try reading some fan fiction on FiMFiction. She set up her laptop and began looking for a good story. Then, she came across "A Small Issue" by Lukington17.
The story gave her a brilliant idea. An idea that could possibly restore her eardrums.
Vinyl burst into Octavia's room. "I've got a plan!!!!" she said.
Octavia mouthed her answer to Vinyl show she could read her lips: "What's your plan?"
Vinyl spoke very eagerly. "I read a story on FiMFiction in which Twilight Sparkle gets to go inside Rainbow Dash; what if that's actually possible!? You could go inside me and fix my eardrums!! Then everything will be like it never even happened!"
It was a crazy idea, as Octavia knew, but it was an idea. And Octavia was willing to do anything it took to help her best friend.
"Okay." said Octavia. "But first, how will we get me down to size? I'm far too big to fit inside your head, you know!"
"I know." said Vinyl. "Maybe the Princess of Friendship can cast a spell that'll shrink you down to size!"
And that's what they decided to try.
