Velvet's Time at Disneigh

Chapter 5

A few days later, Velvet gets her first letter from Nightlight and reads them during her breaks. During one break in particular, she gets a very special letter and reads it aloud. "Dear Velv," reads Velvet, "I am enjoying Canterlot a lot but I miss you so much. I have some friends here, but they can't fill the void you leave in my heart. The Midnight Festival is close, though, and I plan on coming home to visit you for that. We do get that day off after all. As for my classes, they're going great. I've aced every test, answered every question correctly. It's great. I think I'm my professor's favorite. After all, like I said before I ace everything, answer every question correctly, and even arrive right on the dot to every class I have. Aren't you impressed? I can't wait to see you again. I love you, my dear. Your Nightlight."

A few minutes later, break comes to an end and Velvet heads off to do a Disneigh Princess Lunch. At the lunch, Velvet is approached by a young filly named Unity, who has brainus fillius. "Hi," says Unity sweetly to Velvet. "Can I take a picture with you? You're my fav'rit princess."

"Of course," responds Velvet with a smile. She then kneels down by the little filly and the filly's mother, Honeysuckle, takes the picture. Velvet then signs the little filly's autograph book and fills in a sweet little note too. Little Unity then embraces her in a great big hug before returning to their seats with her mother. "What a sweet filly," sighs Velvet. "I hope she doesn't die from it like other children diagnosed with the disability so often do. Hooves crossed."

A few hours later, the Disneigh Princess Lunch comes to an end and Velvet goes off to her photo pass stop. There, she is approached by a young colt, who hands her a drawing he did of her. "Here," says the little colt, "I made this for you, Snow Veil. You'll always be my favorite princess."

"Thanks," responds Velvet with a giggle, "it's a lovely picture. I'll keep it forever." She then takes the photo pass picture with him and his mother. The two then go happily on their way and Velvet puts the artwork in the pouch under her dress.

A few minutes later, Velvet is approached by one of the managers in the park and a young mare about twenty or so. "Snow Veil," says the manager, Flintlock, "come here." Velvet nods and comes over to him.

"What, boss?" asks Velvet.

"This is Evening Mist," says Flintlock, "she's going to be your cast member. She's new, so don't be too hard on her."

"Yes sir," says Velvet. "Have a good day." Flintlock then walks off and leaves Evening Mist with Velvet.

"So," says Evening Mist, "I can't believe I've been assigned to my all time favorite princess!" She squeals a little bit.

"Okay," says Velvet, "breathe. Calm down. You can't squeal like that. Your job is to help the guests know how to talk to me and keep up a conversation with me. Okay?"

"Okay, sorry," says Evening Mist, "I'm just so excited is all."

"That's understandable," responds Velvet with a smile, "just do your best to contain it."

The two then get back to work with everyone in line for the photo pass and they get them through smoothly to their delight. It's truly been a perfect day and Velvet can't wait to tell Nightlight everything.

That night in her home, Velvet sits down at her desk and pulls out a scroll and her favorite purple quill and begins to write to Nightlight. "Dear Nightlight," says Velvet as she writes, "everything is going well here. I met a little filly named Unity today and she has brainus fillius. She was just the sweetest little thing. I also got a drawing from a sweet little colt today. It was so precious. I have a new cast member working with me now named Evening Mist and she's very excitable to say the least. Actually, that's an understatement. She's extremely excitable. I enjoy getting your letters, my love. Yours forever, Twilight Velvet." She then sends it off to him bright and early the next morning. All she can do is hope he responds to it not long after he gets it. Hooves crossed.
