Sunset Shimmer's Sick Day

Stormy with A Side of Pinkie

Sunset smiled. "Hi, Pinkie."

Pinkie grinned widely. "Guess what I brought!" She said in a singsong tone.

Sunset rolled her eyes, but kept her smile. "Stormy with a Side of Pudding?"

Pinkie frowned. "Awww, how did you know?"

Sunset giggled. "Because after we stumbled upon the set for it you made all of us Pinkie Promise to watch it with you at some point."

Pinkie laughed. "Oh, yeah! I forgot." She said as she closed the door. She then frowned again. "Sunset, are you sure you're up for watching this? Rarity told me and the girls about your little dizzy fall. If you need to get some rest, I totally understand. We could always watch it some other time."

Sunset looked at Pinkie. "Well, we could just watch it now. If I happen to fall asleep during the movie we could always watch it again when I'm feeling better."

Pinkie brightened up. "Okie-dokie-lokie!" She turned on Sunset's TV and switched to Blu-Ray. "Are you ready for the movie experience of a lifetime?!" Pinkie asked, visibly giddy.

"Let's get to it." Said Sunset.

As the opening credits rolled, Sunset looked at Pinkie and smiled. We've been through so much together...

Pinkie saw Sunset's smile and blinked. "Wait, is this turning into a shipfic? I thought the blue tag said 'Slice of Life', not 'Romance!'"

Sunset blinked.

Pinkie blushed, clearly embarrassed. "Did I say that out loud?" Suddenly, realization dawned on her. "Ooooh. This the part where you reminisce about your history with me." She giggled nervously. "Totally misread the context there."

Sunset stared at Pinkie, her mouth agape.

Pinkie smiled. "Just forget I said that. It's just me being me, after all!" She giggled.

In all the time Sunset had known Pinkie Pie, that was always the best way to explain her pink friend. Trying to figure her out would only lead to nothing but confusion and more confusion. Deciding that taking Pinkie's advice was the best course of action, she drifted back to her thoughts. We've been through so much together...

After her first encounter with Pinkie, Sunset Shimmer only saw Pinkie Pie as an annoying, clingy attention whore with an obsession for parties and fun. However, in getting to know Pinkie better, she saw that while she could still be annoying at times, she would come to realize that Pinkie just wanted to see people smile. I still get uneasy around upbeat people, but thanks to Pinkie, I open up to that type a bit easier. Whenever Sunset was feeling sad, Pinkie would be there to cheer her up, and she would always appreciate it.

Sunset brought her attention back to the movie. The opening credits had finished, and started with a person on the roof of a building.

Pinkie Pie laughed. "Hey, this reminds me of the time you almost got in trouble with Principal Celestia for singing on the roof of Canterlot High!"

Sunset blushed. She had been singing about her past at the time, but after she finished her song she turned around and bumped into Principal Celestia. "I still can't believe I forgot how early she gets to school. Her Equestrian counterpart raises the freaking sun, for crying out loud! I should have known in hindsight."

Pinkie and Sunset laughed together. Sunset then got up slowly.

Pinkie gave her sick friend a look of concern. "Sunset, why don't you stay on the couch? I'll dampen the washcloth for you. Wouldn't want you to feel any worse than you already do."

Sunset smiled. "Thanks, Pinkie. I appreciate it."

Pinkie smiled back. "You betcha!" She picked the washcloth up off of the couch and walked toward the kitchen sink. She then soaked it in cold water, wrung it out a little, then gave the washcloth to Sunset. "Here you go!" Pinkie said cheerfully.

"Thanks. I don't know where I'd be without you and the other girls." Sunset said.

"I don't think that's something either of us want to imagine."

"Good point." Sunset said sleepily. She yawned. "I think I'll try to catch up on sleep, Pinkie." She put the cold, damp washcloth on her forehead.

"Okie dokie lokie! I'll turn down the volume so you can sleep easier. I practically know the entire movie by heart!"

"I wouldn't be surprised. Thanks again."

"Nooooo problem!" Pinkie cheerfully said as Sunset closed her eyes. As Sunset slowly drifted off to sleep, Pinkie sent an update.

----------------------------------------------

Sunset found herself in the same field before she was woken up by Rarity. Both the human and Equestrian Celestias were still there, as well as both human and Equestrian Raritys.

"Okay, I think I can see where this dream is going." Said Sunset.

Suddenly, music started playing. Sunset heard singing in the distance. Following the sound, she came across human Pinkie Pie on a wrecking ball.

"IIIIII. WANT TO SWING. ON THE CHANDELIER. ON THE CHANDELI-HEE-HEE-HEEEEEER!" she belted.

Sunset's jaw dropped. Behind her, a voice said "Does she know she's singing the wrong song?"

Sunset let out a startled yelp and jumped. Turning around, she saw a pink earth pony mare. The mane and cutie mark were unmistakable. "Pinkie Pie?"

Equestrian Pinkie Pie smiled. "Eeyup! Oh, wait. Silly me, that's Big Mac's line!" She giggled.

Sunset made a mental note to stop trying to predict the dream.

Finished, the human Pinkie Pie leaped off the wrecking ball, flipping in midair and landed right next to her Equestrian counterpart.

Without warning, Equestrian Pinkie Pie's teeth started chattering.

Sunset looked at the pink mare with concern. "Are you okay?" She asked.

Equestrian Pinkie Pie giggled. "I'm fine. It just means you're going to be woken up abruptly!" She happily said.

Before Sunset could respond, she was abruptly woken up.

----------------------------------------------

Sunset woke up next to Pinkie Pie, who was in tears, bawling.

"Oh my god, Pinkie, what happened?! Are you okay?" Sunset asked.

Pinkie Pie sniffled. "I'm fine. I just...love...happy ENDINGS!" She resumed her crying.

Sunset turned her head to the television to see the ending credits were running. She smiled and rolled her eyes. She hugged Pinkie to calm her down.

"Thanks...I needed that." Pinkie said, wiping a tear from her eye. "Well, I should go. Applejack should be here any minute." Pinkie took out the Blu-Ray and put it back in its case. "We'll watch it together another day. Sorry I woke you up."

Sunset smiled. "Don't worry about it. See you later!"

"Bye, Sunset!"

Never change, Pinkie Pie. Never change. Sunset thought to herself.

A short while later, there was a knock on the door.

"It's unlocked!" Said Sunset.

Applejack opened the door, with a toolbox and guard rails in one hand and a bag with two smoothies in the other. "Howdy, Sugarcube!" she said.
