Chapter 24: Fortunes come with a price
As soon as she mentioned Rarity’s name it felt like a pony had punched me and hit me directly in my chest and left me breathless.
For a couple of seconds I didn’t know how to respond to what she just said but I decided to hear whatever the gypse had to say
“Hey guys, Could you leave us for a minute” I say softly
“Yeah sure” says Applejack and Vinyl Scratch as they get up of the ground
“You to Dash” I say
“Oh come on this was just getting interesting” expels Dash
“Come on Dash, there’s something’s pony’s aren’t supposed to hear” says Vinyl Scratch as if she knew I wasn’t actually a pony “And this just happens to be one of those times”
“But isn’t Shadow a pony?” questions Dash while holding a hoof to her chin
“Come on Dash” says Applejack forcing Dash out the tent
“Hey no need to push” yells Dash
I close the tent so the other ponies couldn’t hear what Fantasia was about to say
“Okay Fantasia you have my attention now tell me everything you know” I say looking directly at her
“Well…How about I show you” says Fantasia walking over to me, “Now just relax and let the spirits take you”
The next thing I could tell she placed her hoof on top of my head and began to chant something that I couldn’t make out, an all of a sudden a flash occurred and everything faded to black.
As everything come back to focus I could see everything as black and white flash back
“Argh your awake” said a familiar voice, “Now I have taken you into the future were PonyVille has turned into rubble ever since a unexpected attack”
“Why are you showing me a Equestria in rubble for?” I say not believing my sight
“I’m showing what will happen if you and your friends don’t stop what is about to arrive in PonyVille”
“And what will that be?” I say
All of a sudden a white flash appears blinding my vision
“This is PonyVille exactly 3 minutes before the unexpected attack”
The next thing I could see was an explosion coming from the west side of PonyVille were a dark grey unicorn stood within all the chaos happening around him. This pony didn’t look like any of the other ponies you would see around PonyVille he had a Dark Grey coat with Grey and black mane he also had another distinctive feature across his left eye wear a scar lay from the bottom of his eye to the top of his head.
“Who is this guy” I say witnessing the destruction of PonyVille
The vision disappears as the real world comes back to me
“That is Phantom…He wasn’t a luck pony like you were, he wasn’t found by any generous pony such as Rarity when he arrived, he awoke to a barren wasteland where he spent his time wondering around aimlessly, until he stumble upon an abounded shack” Says Fantasia walking slowly around the tent, “He stayed in the abounded shack for a couple of weeks while trying to gather any food from any living thing that came past, One night while he was hunting he stepped in this colorful rainbow puddle that happened to be on the ground and since it was the first sign of water he had seen In two weeks he decided to drink from this puddle”
“So what’s so special about this puddle?” I say thinking that she’s making this story up as she goes along
“Well…I’m getting to that part” She says sitting back down in there chair, “As Phantom got back to the shack he began to feel different inside”
“So im guessing that the puddle turned him into what he is now?”
“Yes what lay within that puddle was a small amount of Discords Chaos Essence which manipulated Phantom and turned his heart into pure darkness and his appearance into a dull and lifeless pony” says Fantasia
“So exactly what does this have to do with me and Rarity?” I say in confusion
“It is possible that contained in that puddle of chaos could have been some remnants of Discord allowing him to live on through the mind of Phantom” says Fantasia with a puzzling look on her face, “But that is only what I am predicting that has happened”
“So in other words you don’t know” I say standing up
“I don’t know his attentions on why he wants to destroy PonyVille or any one you love and hold dearest to you, but I do know that if you go back to PonyVille right now you won’t be able to save any one”
“WHAT…Are you telling me that I can’t go back to save my fiancé “I scream as I stand up and smash my hoof against the table, “I’m not going to leave her there to die”
“I know this may be hard to deal with…But if you go you will end up being killed, what I showed you was the future if you stayed in PonyVille, Phantom didn’t plan on you leaving to go to New Yorke so you will be able to have the chance of beating him, cause he will believe you are somewhere within PonyVille when he attacks” Convinces Fantasia
“Okay Fantasia I won’t go back to PonyVille just yet” I say facing towards the door with my back to Fantasia, “But when I do… I’ll be expecting one hell of a fight”
I leave the tent and walk over to the others that were sitting down outside
“Hey Shadow your finally finished” yawns Dash, “So what did she say”
“I tell you later but for now let’s get moving I wanna reach Cairncross by tonight” I say walking off down the dirt road thinking about what Fantasia had said.
‘Aggghhh…This damn Phantom guy is planning to attack PonyVille and there is nothing I can do to stop it’ I think to myself while looking down at the ground, ‘How am I going to tell Vinyl, Dash and Applejack about Phantom… Will they believe me… and if so will they leave to save PonyVille or do what Fantasia said and wait till he’s attacked… I guess I better tell them they would wanna know about this and I am going to need their help against Phantom’
