Chapter 3: Revolutionary Bakery?

After finding out that Pinkie was just pretending, Twilight and Spike felt relieved and safe. It was time for them to finally visit the new Ponyville library! Twilight quickly pulled Spike up on her croup and joyfully started running downstairs. While she was, her stomach grumbled again.

"Weeeeeell..." said Twilight while holding her tummy. "Actually... We might take a little break and have something to eat here at the Sugarcube Corner.. after all, Mrs. Cake said she's prepare us something! It would be rude to refuse it after she took her time to cook it, wouldn't it?"

"Yes Twily, you're right! I was hoping for you to say so! I'm sooooo hungry.. and don't forget these gems you promised me!" said Spike, while blinking to Twilight and having a wide smile upon his face.

Twilight and Spike finally arrived downstairs. They had watering mouths, and they can't be blamed.. in the end, Mrs. Cake was an amazing baker! She managed to satisfy everypony in Ponyville's tastes, without even mentioning that she had known Pinkie for a long while.. who knows, they might have exchanged secret recipes, hehe!

"Twilight, Spike, come over here! I've got something for you laying here!" said Mrs. Cake, as soon as she heard their steps upon the stairs.

"Here you go!" Said Mrs. Cake while holding a plate with 6 muffins on it. "These muffins are very special, a recent creation of mine.. try them out and tell me your thoughts about them!" Concluded Mrs. Cake, while serving one muffin to both.

"It sure looks delicious!" Said Spike, while holding one.

"What's this shiny black cream, though? It's the first time I see it.." said Twilight while inspecting her muffin.

"Don't worry Twilight, it's a mystery mix of ingredients! You're going to love it, give it a chance!" Replied Mrs. Cake with enthusiasm.

"Hm, wow, this tastes so damn good!" Said Spike, after biting his muffin. "Twilight, you really gotta try it out!"

Twilight refrained from letting an unknown substance pass through her mouth. It might have seemed nothing more than a delicious cream at a first impact, but its deep black color covered by a shiny silver glittering looked like something she had seen already before. She couldn't remember when, but if there's one thing Twilight was sure about, that is the supposed cream NOT being part of a culinary recipe. This fear made her lose her appetite.

"Mrs. Cake... I don't want to neither sound grumpy nor doubt about your baking skills.. but.. may you tell me what's inside of this "mystery mix"?" Said Twilight, with a kinda worried expression.

"Uhm, well.. I shouldn't be sharing this with anypony, but.. it's a mix of dark chocolate and vanilla.. but not some random mix! This cream is actually very special! Its dark chocolate comes from some unique cocoa beans! I farmed them myself with my own hooves, and trust me, that took a very long time and a lot of dedication! I've put all of my effort in these revolutionary kind of muffins! A couple of days ago the Mayor Mare tried one out, and she loved it that much that she wanted me to bake a bunch of these to serve them at the new library inauguration! Ain't it marvelous, Twilight?" Said Mrs. Cake, with a wide smile upon her face.

Anypony could read her proudness from her eyes. Her bakery had always been well known in Ponyville, but this was a different case.. that library inauguration would have brought mares and colts from every corner of Equestria! She could have become famous throughout the whole Equestrian land and spread her business even more! And hey.. if you were a modest baker, wouldn't it feel amazing to know that your secret recipe is appreciated (maybe even loved!) by the whole Equestrian population? That would make you feel important and proud of yourself, wouldn't it?

"Hmm.. alright, you convinced me.." Said Twilight with a surrending tone, while grabbing her muffin and pulling it close to her mouth. "I mean.. in the end Mrs. Cake would never purposefully hurt someone, nor has it ever happened.. let's just do this" thought Twilight, while giving a small bite to her muffin.

"So Twilight, watcha think about it? Personally I think it's awesome!" Said Spike.

"..it's.. FANTASTIC!" Screamed Twilight. "This flavour is just.. this mix is.. oh my, how can I even describe this? These flavours just perfectly mix together and start up a blast of taste in your mouth! I'm genuinely impressed, Mrs. Cake! This has gotta be the best muffin I've ever eaten!"

"Oh.. d-do you really think so, t-Twilight?" said Mrs. Cake, while sobbing. Twilight's opinion was really important for her.

"Yeah! Please, keep it up and make more! You know what? I'll just heads up to the library now, and the first thing I'll do once I'm there will be to grab another one of these muffins and devour it!" said Twilight, with.. a certainly unexpected joyful tone. "We're going to the library now Mrs. Cake, Thank you for everything! Wish you a good day!" said Twilight, while heading to the main door.

"Thank you, Twilight! See you!" replied Mrs. Cake from the distance, while Twilight went outside already.

Mrs. Cake was really proud of her creation. A similar reaction from Twilight (not only a friend.. but a royal princess!) certainly had made her day. There was one thing she forgot to mention when she offered these baked delights to Twilight and Spike: these muffins.. would have collateral effects on ponies. And that is.. dipendence. She probably didn't mention it only because she wasn't sure about it, she thought they were just very good. Mrs. Cake would never hurt someone purposefully, there is absolutely no doubt about that.

"Oh, I'm so happy that she enjoyed my creation that much! It's pretty rare to see Twilight being so excited for.. well.. anything that's not books so far. I really have to keep the production up, I'll plant more of these miracolous cocoa beans in the garden. Who knows, I might find some other place to plant them as well!" happily soliloquised Mrs. Cake, while Twilight was finally heading to the unreachable library inauguration.
