After passing through a rock farm and nearly getting into a fierce argument with Pinkie's relatives, Lapis was annoyed and Twilight was exhausted. They wordlessly decided to rest in Appleoosa. Everypony in town was willing to give a free stay to a princess and an alien, so Twilight hit the hay and Lapis pretended to sleep, which was about as relaxing.

"Wake up," Lapis said.
Twilight yawned. "Okay, I'm up." She jumped out of bed, and the two skipped town on the next train.
Lapis gasped. "Look at all the trees! This is exactly like flying on the ground!"
Twilight grinned. "Yes, it's pretty great if I do say so myself." She opened the window to feel the wind in her mane, and suddenly a puff of smoke flew into the train car. Lapis raised an eyebrow when it turned into a scroll.
"What's that?" she asked.
Twilight read the message quickly. "It says someone stole Ponyville!"
