Chapter 2

Later that same night, in the Command and Communications center located in the sub-basement of the Grand Royal Palace, Princess Alysia and her mother Princess Wave Runner speaks to a handsome but ageless alicorn stallion on the video communications. This alicorn stallion is Princess Alysia’s father, Grand Prince of the Moon, Somnus Silverlight.

“Wave Runner, do you agree with our daughter’s conclusion that the two Alicorn mares you are currently confining at the Palace, could in fact be my Mother and my Aunt. That disappeared nine years ago?” Somnus inquires as Wave Runner rubs her chin with her hand.

“You know me Somnus; I would never answer a question from you without knowing all the facts of the query. One of the biggest unknowns is that I have never met your mother or your aunt in my lifetime, not as a unicorn or in my sea pony siren form. So I’d rather not answer that query, dear. But I will say this, like you, I trust our daughter’s judgment.” Wave Runner answers as Alysia hugs her mother.

“Very well, your highness, I will authorize a royal investigation into the identity of the two Alicorn mares at the palace.” Somnus said diplomatically in a commanding voice as a smile forms on Alysia’s snout.

“Thank you father or thank you, your grand highness!” Alysia is overjoyed as she runs out of the command and communications center to begin putting together the royal investigation into the identity of the two Alicorns.

“Wave Runner, you know what this means, if it turns out to be my mother and my aunt that you have at the Palace for the current rule of the Royal Foals and this Crystal War we are deadlock in.” Somnus’ voice tightens as Wave Runner shakes her head forebodingly, switching off the video communication link to her husband at the Polar Star Outpost Base in the Crystal Empire and sits down on a chair behind her, resting her chin on her knuckles.

“It means a power struggle within Canterlot with supporters of the royal foals and supporters of their mother and their aunt fighting for control of the government and who should rule Equestria from that point on. Just one short power struggle is all that is needed to allow Princess Flurry Heart and her Crystal Empire to rebuild her depleted forces. If she does that, the exhausted combined forces will be destroyed and Princess Flurry Heart will crown herself the only true ruler of Equestria.” Princess Wave Runner comments.

It the afternoon of the following day, after a full morning of physical tests done on both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna to determine if they are real Alicorns, the two princesses are returned to their bed chambers to await the results.

A few minutes after noon, Princess Alysia and Princess Wave Runner walk down the hallway heading towards the Princesses’ bed chambers to talk to them about the results. On the screen of the MCV were the results of Princess Celestia’s tests which, at the moment, point to her being a pure Alicorn mare and Alysia’s grandmother. But Alysia doesn’t want to get her hopes up that she found her missing Grandmother yet.

‘After I get the sample of Miss Celestia’s blood and send it to the lab to be tested then I will tell her who I really am. (Her granddaughter and answer all the questions she most likely has for me.’) Alysia thought as she walked into Miss Celestia’s bed chamber. She is sitting on a cushioned chair looking outside, attired in a sky blue colored mid-knee length dress with a pair of gold colored flat sandals on her fairly large bare feet.

On a small wooden table next to her were the remains of her excellent lunch that Alysia had the palace cooks specially made for her and a small pot of the finest tea. Upon hearing the soft foot falls of Alysia’s on the rug behind her, Celestia sets down the ceramic cup she sips from.

“Hello Alysia, I must say that you treat your prisoners well. I enjoyed the lunch your cooks make for me and it was a great pot of tea. Best I had for a long time." Celestia commented a bit woeful as Alysia felt as if a cold fist closed around her heart and tears began to fall down her cheeks.

“Huh?” Celestia said remorseful with her comment. A guilt-ridden Celestia stood up and walked towards the distress teenage unicorn mare. She hugged the teenage unicorn mare to comfort her. For some reason, hugging this mare felt so right to Princess Celestia like this was the right thing to do.

“I am sorry, Alysia, I should have never told you that I felt like a prisoner. Matter of fact you have treated this Alicorn mare you barely know, so well.” Celestia said penitent as she sits back down on the chair and gestures Alysia’s to join her.

“But why Alysia?” Celestia said a bit puzzled as she takes a seat on a round tufted storage ottoman in front of her.

“You remember what I said to you Celestia?” Alysia said reminding passing her hand over her MCV to bring up the results of the morning tests on her.

“You said that you will not answer any of my questions till it confirms that I am the real Princess Celestia. I can only guess you got the results from this morning tests on that machine of yours. But you still need something else from me before you will answer my questions.” Celestia said knowing as Alysia shakes her head.

“I need a sample of your blood for DNA testing. When I get the results from that, I will be more than happy to answer your questions and I will finally tell you what my full name is.” Alysia said hopeful as a smile formed on Celestia’s snout.

Three hours later the results are sent to Princess Alysia’s MCV the results of the test confirms that this Alicorn mare is in fact Alysia’s missing Grandmother Princess Celestia Silverlight. A huge smile forms on Alysia’s snout as she opens a small padded briefcase she was carrying with her. Inside the case were two objects. The first one was Princess Celestia’s original gold tiara and a gold necklace with a sun and a half moon symbol on it.

Out on the balcony, with her back towards the bed chamber was Princess Celestia. She was getting fresh air and warming herself up from the sun. The gentle foot falls of Alysia behind her once again, gets her attention. As she turns around her face glazes with shock. Standing just inside the door was Alysia. She was wearing her original gold tiara. She hesitantly touched the two symbols on Alysia’s gold necklace with the tips of her fingers and slowly slid them off.

“That’s mine and my sister’s symbols you have on that necklace you’re wearing.” Celestia said hesitantly as she was trying to get her head around the reason why Alysia had there symbols on her necklace.

“Who are you?” Celestia inquired very timidly.

“My full name is Princess Alysia Ara Silverlight.” Alysia said as Celestia’s legs gave out under her and she sunk to the ground in shock with the name given.

“You are a Silverlight? A member of my royal family. Who is your father or mother?” Celestia inquired apprehensive as she remained sitting on the ground slowly getting over the shock.

“My father is Grand Prince of the Moon Somnus Silverlight.” Alysia answered as Celestia’s breath catches in her throat as tears begin to form in her light purple eyes.

“My son is your father. So that means that I am your Grandmother and you are my grandchild.” Celestia overjoyed as her pupils dilated and she wrapped her arms and wings around her new found grandchild.

“Welcome home Grandma.” Alysia said joyfully as they are joined by Alysia’s mother Princess Wave Runner Silverlight and Celestia’s sister Princess Luna Silverlight.

Later that same day, at the small secret lake in the palace garden, Princess Celestia, after removing her sandals sits on the edge of the lake with her fairly large pristine white bare feet submerged in the water. She talks to her granddaughter who divulges to her that she is a Sea Pony Siren and not just a normal unicorn.

At first, Alysia was frightened to tell her grandmother that she was a Sea Pony Siren, fearing that her grandmother will want nothing to do with her because she is so different from any other pony breed she knows. After being told, Celestia dipped her hand into the lake and splashes it a bit. The moment she felt Alysia grab her hand underwater, she used her earth pony strength to carefully pull her to the surface and kisses her on her cheek, before telling her she will not love her any different than any other breed.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the small lake, Princess Luna sits on a blanket with her sandals removed on the shore talking to Somnus’s wife and Alysia’s mother Princess Wave Runner Silverlight as she swims around in her Sea Pony Siren form.

“Wave Runner, you told me that Somnus is worried about me and his mother returning after all this time. It could start a power struggle in Canterlot between the supporters of me and his mother vs. supporters of the royal foals. Why?” Luna inquires as Wave Runner shoots straight out of the water into the air, before diving back into the water with a splash and swims to the edge of the lake.

“It has to do with this Crystal War we are deadlock in this war had been deadlocked for a good 5 years now. ” Princess Wave Runner begins to explain as the soft crunching of grass under the bare feet of the much taller Alicorn mare can be heard as Princess Celestia arrives carrying her sandals in her hand and joins Luna on the blanket.

“Hello, Celestia. I thought you were talking with Alysia?” Princess Wave Runner comments as she pulls herself out of the water and the two sisters watch in amazement as Wave Runner’s fish tail transform back into legs with light pink bare feet.

“Wow ! I was talking to my granddaughter when her vid-phone on her MCV rang. She answered it and asks me to join you and Luna on the blanket because some pony is coming to visit. She was going to meet her at the front door of the palace and then bring her to the lake to see us (gesturing her hand toward her and Luna)” Celestia explains as Wave Runner grabs her MCV and finds the message that Alysia sent to her.

“Oh? Wave Runner you were going to tell me about this Crystal War you are deadlocked in?” Luna inquires as Wave Runner sets her MCV down on the ground again.

“That, I was. But I think the pony who’s coming to visits you too, could tell you better than me. Because she’s part of this Crystal War and the main reason why Equestria is fighting this war.” Wave Runner explains as the two sisters look at each other.

A few hours later Alysia arrives at the lake followed by a 6 ft even, full grown ,drop dead gorgeous and athletic light blue unicorn mare with crimson red mane and tail. She was attired in a cream colored short sleeve mid knee length dress with her princess’s regalia. On her light blue bare feet were gold gladiator style sandals. As the mare approached the blanket, the faces of both Celestia and Luna glazes with shock. As they brought their hands to their snouts, tears started to run down their cheeks.

“Blue...Blueberry?” Celestia said hesitantly as tears started to form in the eyes of the mare, she slowly shook her head.

“Yes, Mother.” Blueberry answered tearful as Celestia leaps to her feet and ran over to her youngest daughter and wraps her arms and wings around her. A moment later, Luna joins her sister in the embrace of her niece.

“Alysia, you did well my daughter.” Wave Runner comment pleased as Alysia joins her mother who was sitting on top of a rock next to the lake.

“Thank you mother.” Alysia answered

“What did your father and aunt say about visiting their mother and aunt?” Wave Runner inquired as Alysia leaned against the rock her mother was sitting on.

“Father and Aunt Aurora are a little busy at the moment to break away for a visit, they want to come see their mother and aunt. But they have a huge operation underway in the snow field to break the hold of the Crystal Empire Forces in one region.” Alysia explains to her mother as Celestia, Luna and Blueberry sit down on the blanket to catch-up.

“Father also tells me for this operation they don’t need Aunt Blueberry’s troops. Plus she has not gone on R&R forever, They are worried she’s going to kill herself at the pace she is going at. They know she wants so much to free her crystal ponies from under the iron grip of Princess Flurry Heart Sparkle. so they both agreed to send Blueberry home to rest and visit their mother and aunt.” Alysia explains as they watch the sun slowly set in the sky above the Grand royal palace.

Later that evening, after a huge family dinner to welcome back Princess Celestia Silverlight and Princess Luna Silverlight, the three mares retired to a small sitting room within the Royal Palace to continue talking. Both Princess Wave Runner and her daughter Princess Alysia retired for the evening as they have morning court tomorrow.

Sitting on the coffee table, in the center of the room, surrounded by two chairs and two sofas, was a tray with a pitcher of apple cider and three glasses. In the room, sitting on a chair, was Grand Princess Blueberry Swirl Silverlight. Stretched out on one of the sofas with her shoes removed was Blueberry’s Aunt Princess Luna Silverlight. Her mother Princess Celestia Silverlight sat on the other sofa with her legs crossed sipping the apple cider from her cup.

“Oh Blueberry? Wave Runner mentioned early that a pony that was coming to visit us could tell me about this Crystal war Equestria is involved in, because she was part of it. Are you that pony?” Princess Luna inquired as Blueberry shook her head, tears running down her cheeks.

“I am so sorry mama and Auntie this war is my fault. I failed my duty as a protector of Harmony and your dream of enduring harmony in Equestria.” Blueberry’s voice was wooden and distant as it caused Celestia to run over to her youngest daughter and begin to try to comfort her.

“Blueberry, please stop crying, remember what I told you when you were a filly. Being a princess is a series of ups and downs each event that happens under your watch is a test that will push your heart to the limit. But if you follow what your heart tells you, you will never fail as a Princess of Equestria.” Celestia said consoling as Blueberry took a deep breath and dried her tears.

“I have missed your wise counsel, mother.” Blueberry said appreciatively as she hugs her mother Celestia.

“Thank you mother.” Blueberry thankful as her mother returns to her seat on the sofa as Luna pours herself another glass of apple cider from the pitcher.

“Please, dear niece, tell us about how this war started. So your mother and I can understand what is going on in this new Equestria.” Luna inquires as she took a sip of apple cider from her glass.

“To understand how this Crystal war started, you first must know what prompted it. Not only did you and mother disappear, but cousin Cadence did as well, leaving the Crystal Empire in disarray and wide open to the darkness taking control of the empire. Princess Flurry Heart was still too young to take over rule of the Empire and Cadence’s husband Prince Shining Armor is a good captain of the royal guard, but he is no ruler.” Blueberry explains as Celestia and Luna gawk in disbelief learning that Princess Cadence disappeared along with them.

“After our homeland of Equestria was well in hand Aurora looked to finding a new ruling Princess of the Crystal Empire. That’s where I come into the story. At first I didn’t want to rule the Crystal Empire, but after talking to Somnus about it he convinced me to take over as ruling Princess of the Crystal Empire. So I did.” Blueberry explains as Luna had a huge smile on her snout about her nephew Somnus’ taking control of her throne of the moon. Equally as proud was their mother Celestia who was beside herself with pride that her oldest daughter stepped-up to take control of the Sun throne.

“Under my rulership the Crystal Empire was an ideal Empire. All my Crystal Ponies were happy and healthy. Then it happened, Princess Flurry Heart came of age and everything changed. She forcefully took control of the Empire with her ego and tried to have me killed eventhough I gave up the throne to her.” Blueberry said bitterly as sudden spurts of adrenaline course through the sister’s veins shocked that Princess Flurry Heart has little regard for the life of a true Princess of Equestria.
