//------------------------------// // Chapter 2: Confessions and Confusion // Story: Blue and Purple // by BlueCuddlePonyGhost //------------------------------// Chapter 2: Confessions and Confusion Twilight and Rainbow Dash both blushed after thinking those words and separating from the hug. Did they really feel that way about each other? Both ponies froze as they looked at each other. Did they really love each other? Just as friends right? Or did they really mean it? "So, want to just talk about something else?" the alicorn suggested, trying to make the moment less awkward. Rainbow nodded. "I hope the weather gets less cold. We've been working on the weather machine for weeks now!" Rainbow commented. "I know, but just be patient. Your hard work is improving things. Besides it's only five o' clock - " Twilight replied before getting interrupted. "'Five o' clock'? Oh no! I need to go help Pinkie! I'm so sorry Twilight! I should have said something earlier!" Rainbow Dash said before flying over to put her clothes on. "It's okay, I understand! Don't let me hold you up," Twilight replied, feeling embarrassed for possibly making Rainbow late. The two ponies then walked to the door, and Rainbow turned her attention to Twilight again. "Thank you for understanding Twilight, and thank you for the hot cider. As well as helping to get me warm, - and for borrowing the blanket before we got stuck under it. Hehehe," Rainbow Dash thanked her friend. "No problem Rainbow. Come back whenever you want!" Twilight replied before giving Rainbow Dash a hug. Rainbow returned the hug, then they separated, and she walked out the door. Twilight waited for a few minutes, then ran back to her library! "No! No! No! No! No! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! This - can't - be - HAPPENING! How is this possible?!" Twilight said as she paced around frantically while starting to hyperventilate. 'Why in Equestria is this happening?! Why is this happening?! I can't actually be in love with Rainbow Dash, right?! We're just friends, buddies, - Right?!?! I don't understand WHY this is happening, but I can't describe it! I feel safe, warm, secure, happy, and have a good time near Rainbow Dash, but not like this! I - I don't know what to do!' Twilight thought to herself. She felt the feeling bottling up inside to the point where she just had to scream it to the heavens! After she used her horn to cast an anti-sound spell around herself and the library, she made sure the spell was properly set before letting go of her feelings. Finally, she took a deep breath and screamed: "I'M IN LOVE WITH RAINBOW DASH! YES! I, TWILIGHT SPARKLE, THE PRINCESS OF FRIENDSHIP! PUPIL OF PRINCESS CELESTIA ADMIT, ADMIT THAT I LOVE RAINBOW DASH!!!" Twilight then took a few good deep breaths before she felt relief. It felt good to let go of her emotions like that! But as she thought more about her feelings for her cyan pegasus friend, a thought occured to her. A concerning thought: 'What if Rainbow doesn't feel the same way about me?! What if my emotions are one sided, and I'm putting our friendship in danger?! What if these emotions are part of my imagination? What if she feels the same way about me, but is too nervous to admit it? What if I made her uncomfortable and this whole situation is my fault?! Or worse, she doesn't want to be in that kind of relationship? What would our friends think? What would Celestia think?! Oh Equestria! What have I done?!' Twilight continued pacing nervously until she slowly calmed down, and decided to deal with these thoughts later. Besides it was getting late. She needed to continue her studies, as well as eat. "Twilight?" a voice spoke as Spike opened the library door opened. Unfortunately, thanks to Twilight's anti-sound spell, she didn't hear it. All sound was either silent or muffled. "Twilight, what would you like for dinner?" Spike asked kindly. However, he didn't know his voice was muffled, so Twilight only heard bits of what he said. "What?! You asked would I like a glass of water? Yes. But I can barely hear you! Speak up, Spike!" Twilight said loudly from across the library. Spike face-clawed. "Okay. But what would you like for dinner? To eat?" Spike responded, slightly confused. "What?! You want me to dance like a chicken? Okay! Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba- BAC-GAK!" Twilight responded before getting on her hind hooves, moving her arms, front hooves, and wings, now acting like a chicken. Spike face-clawed again. "NO! I ASKED WHAT YOU WANTED FOR DINNER!!!" Spike shouted, hoping he wasn't too loud. He had to get dinner ready since the others would be coming over for the meal. "OOOOOHHHHHH! You want us to play with fresh linen?! Okay!" Twilight replied with a bit of glee. She then flew out of the library just as Spike was about to correct her. "Twilight, wait! What are you doing?!" Spike retorted, feeling like Twilight was now getting the wrong idea about what he really was asking her. Wait a minute, how was it possible for Twilight to not understand what Spike asked her? He was speaking crystal clear! Unless - wasn't there a spell that made sounds muffled or completely silent? She used it when practicing with Starlight - Oh no! She must have used it on either the library or herself! Or even both! No wonder she couldn't understand him! She forgot to get rid of the spell! "I'M BACK SPIKE! Ready and willing to play with some FRESH LINEN!" Twilight cried out happily as she flew back into the crystal library. She had the multi-colored checker-patterned blanket tied around her neck as if she was a super pony. While she flew in, she was holding the corners of a big, white bed sheet, carrying it under her as she flew; the bed sheet gently blew in the air as if it were in the wind on a clothesline. Twilight smiled with glee as she flew over Spike, and dropped the white bed sheet! "Twilight! Wait - NOOOOOOOOOO -" Spike exclaimed as the big, white bed sheet fell right on top of him, covering him from head to tail! Spiked struggled to get out of the sheet, flailing his arms around, unable to see anything! Even though getting tangled up under the sheet was now a bit of a hassle, there was no way Spike would risk burning it, less he end up burning himself or Twilight by accident in the process! As the baby dragon made futile attempts to get out of his white, silky entanglement, Twilight smiled. She was more than happy to play with Spike, especially if he was the one to pick something fun and out of the ordinary! "There you go, Spike old buddy! So, how did you want to play with the sheet? - No, no, no, no, no, no, no, wait! Don't tell me! You're pretending to be a ghost? A monster? A sheet covered mummy?" Twilight said jubilantly as she now watched her assistant battle the bed sheet, completely tangled under it. "Grrrrr! Gaaahh! AHHHHHHHHH TWILIGHT! HELP ME! GET ME OUTTA HERE!!! PLEASE!!!" Spike cried out, continuing to struggle and flailing under the tangled white bed sheet. "Don't worry Spike! I got you!" Twilight said before helping Spike get untangled from the white bed sheet. Spike gasped and took in some deep breaths before turning to the alicorn again. "Twilight! Why did you throw that bed sheet over me? I asked you what you wanted for dinner!" Spike retorted, clearly getting annoyed by Twilight's actions. "Yes, you said 'I want us to play with fresh linen'. So that's why I got the white bed sheet, and dropped it over you. Your request was straight and simple," Twilight replied calmly. Spike then thought quickly and ran over to the table with the quills, ink, and parchment. He quickly wrote something down, and showed his friend the note. It read: Twilight, did you use an anti-sound spell? I think you forgot to remove it. You are not understanding what I asked you. Twilight blushed red as an apple from Applejack's farm. She DID forget to remove the spell. No wonder Spike was getting annoyed. "Oops. Sorry," Twilight said before her horn glowed purple as she removed the spell from both herself and the library. "Okay. NOW I can hear you. What was it you were asking me?" Twilight said to the baby dragon. Spike face-clawed again. "What do you want to eat for dinner?" Spike asked for what sounded like the umpteenth time. "I'm good with any meal. Maybe something warm, but enjoyable. Like lasagna with garlic bread? And some vegetables and fruit on the side?" Twilight suggested. Spike smiled. "Sounds good. Just, clean up when you're done. Dinner won't be ready till seven o' clock," Spike reponded casually. "Wait, where did this bed sheet come from?" Twilight asked. She clearly didn't remember bringing it into the library. Made sense since the spell made her misunderstand Spike's question. "You thought I said we wanted to play with it when you still had the anti-spell active. I'm going to make dinner. But if you wanted to play with the bed sheet - knock yourself out!" Spike reorted before leaving the library. "Okay, cool!" Twilight exclaimed before grabbing the white bed sheet with her mouth, and throwing it over herself. "I'm a ghost pony now! Booooooooooooooo!" Twilight said as she playfully pretended to be a ghost in the library. Hopefully, Rainbow was having as much fun at Pinkie Pie's house.
