//------------------------------// // And Forever... // Story: Always // by Holocron //------------------------------// It was a beautiful afternoon in Canterlot, Celestia’s Sun had began its slow decent; it’s only companion, Luna’s Moon slowly rising. Standing at the balcony of his royal chambers, a black Alicorn watched as twilight descended upon the land. His light blue eyes gazed upon the land, the gentle breeze of the coming evening flowing through he fire blue mane and tail. Taking in the sweet aroma, the Alicorn could smell the fragrant of the Canterlot Gardens, the moisture of the air, even the faintest scents of the baked good cooling on the windows across the city. It was a pleasant smell, it was a homely smell. But another whiff struck his nose. Far more familiar, and far more welcomed than any other. “You’re late.” The Alicorn spoke, seemingly talking to no one, but he knew someone was there. “I was almost afraid I’d watch it alone.” “And leave you without company.” The voice answered with a teasing tone. “You know I’d never do that.” Stepping out of the darkened room, a lone figure moved towards the Alicorn. The glowing green eyes and black exoskeleton revealed it to be a Changeling. But the Alicorn looked at the figure with a warm and kind smile. “Hello Comet.” “Good evening Archex.” Comet nodded, beckoning the Changeling to join him on the balcony. “Evening.” Archex greeted, hugging Comet from behind as the two stood together. “Did you miss me?” “Always.” Comet replied, nuzzling his head back against Archex’s muzzle. “It’s almost time.” “Perfect.” Archex replied, igniting his horn to pull what seemed to be a large bag from the corner of the room. “I even brought something for this special occasion.” “Oh?” Comet raised an eyebrow. “What is it?” “Well...” Archex explained, opening the bag and pulling out what appeared to be glass bottle of a sparkling clear liquid, accompanied by two wine glasses, and a massive fluffy blanket. “I wanted to really make tonight special.” “Aww, you didn’t have to.” Comet replied, getting up so Archex could place the blanket on the ground. Sitting comfortably, the two snuggled close as the rest of the blanket delicately wrapped around them. “And why not?” Archex teased, playfully sticking out his tongue. “It’s been three years hasn’t it?” “Has it been that long?” Comet asked, watching as Archex opened the bottle, pouring the dazzling drink into his glass. It was like the liquid twinkled with the same light and beauty as the stars. “Seems like only yesterday.” “When you almost crashed into me.” Archex chuckled, reminiscing how the two met. “I think we both came out of it okay.” Comet added to the laughter. “Though, that was a good chariot.” “It was, but you couldn’t even control it.” Archex added, then let out another teasing snicker. “I’ve never seen a chariot last more than a month with you before you crash the thing.” “What can I say...” Comet shrugged his shoulders. “I like to drive my chariots. Oh! And speaking of...I found something out the other day you’ll love.” “Oh? Tell me, tell me.” Archex asked, rubbing up against Comet’s body and sipping at his drink. “And it better be good.” “Princess Celestia told me she wasn’t able to make it to her Summer Island this year.” Comet explained, a smile curling his lips. “So she’s letting us use it.” “Celestia’s Summer Island?!” Archex’s eyes opened wide with surprise and his smile stretched from side to side. “You mean the not so secret, secret Island Princess Celestia uses every Summer to do who knows what?!” “Pretty much.” Comet nodded, hugging his love closer to him. “We can go next week, spend all that time together...and alone...” “I like the way you think.” Archex smirked, chugging a large gulp of the liquid before placing a gentle kiss on Comet’s cheek. “But right now, i want to see the show...looks like it’s about to begin...” Looking into the now darkened, night sky, both Alicorn and Changeling watched as Luna’s Moon shined out like a small Sun over the black horizon. The twinkling stars glowed and dazzled about like shimmering diamonds in the sky. Both lovers held each other closely, nuzzling in each others’ comfort and drinking more of the sparkling drink. But as they watched the stars lighten up, neither took their eyes off the sky. What they were waiting for was approaching fast, and they didn’t want to miss it. But they didn’t have to wait any longer. In an instant, a star flew across the sky. Their lips voiced a silent “woah” and “wow” as they watched another star fly. Then another, and another, and another. It was a meteor shower that could rival any told in myth or legend. Comet watched with great enthusiasm. He had always loved to watch Luna’s night sky dance in such a manner. It was a sight he would never forget. And he always made sure to share this moment with Archex. “It’s so beautiful.” Comet spoke, his words holding an air of love and comfort. He felt safe and secure being so close to Archex. Igniting his own horn, Comet pulled at the blanket, wrapping it a little tighter, but it held the two lovers in a snugger, warmer embrace. “Wouldn’t you say?” “I say somepony is feeling a little cuddly.” Archex responded, nuzzling his cheek against Comet’s. Shifting himself a little, the playful Changeling snuggled up to his Alicorn lover. “I love when we do this.” “Agreed.” Comet replied, taking his eyes off the sky for a moment to gaze upon his love. Archex’s eyes twinkled with the same beauty as the meteor shower above them. It was one of the many things that Comet found so attracted to the Changeling. “Archex, can I ask you something?” “Anything.” Archex replied, hugging Comet close.” “Tell me we’ll be together like this.” Comet asked, reaching around to hug Archex back. “I just want to hear you say it. Please.” “We’ll be together like this.” Archex warmly smiled back. “Always.”
