//------------------------------// // That Not So Normal Day // Story: What Happened to Agent Georgia? // by Mask //------------------------------// I think it is safe to assume that we all wonder what happened to Agent Georgia after his jetpack “incident”. According to South Dakota, his body was never found, and Carolina confirms this… But, what if something completely different than just a stray projectile hitting his thruster causing him to over accelerate his jetpack, getting him lost in space? What if something more happened to our beloved Agent? Friends, I’m going to tell you the tale, on how Agent Georgia… went to Equestria. ~~*~~ It was just another day for the regular freelancer. Wake up, get briefed, go on a mission, and then go back to the base to do other meaningless tasks. However, today might just be a little bit different. How? You may ask. Well, we’ll get there, will we not? Of course we will! Agents Carolina and Georgia were being sent on a mission, again. This one seemed quite a bit more difficult than their usual hit and run missions, which explains why Dr. Leonard Church was sending his best two operatives. And just for clarification. Dr. Church had not taken up the mantle of "The Director" as of yet. The program had not gotten quite off the ground at this point of time. Their mission was simple enough to understand, but the real risk was the requirement of stealth. Carolina has her Adaptive Camouflage armor enhancement, while Georgia has his Active Camouflage armor enhancement. Both are quite different. Adaptive Camouflage takes the surrounding colors to change her armor, up to the point of appearing as an uneven wall or a common foot soldier. To be frank, it could be dubbed a Chameleon ability. Active camouflage bends rays of light around the target, giving it the illusion of being transparent to the point of invisibility. Though it is flawed and under scrutiny can be noticed. Their mission is to infiltrate the enemies base, collect the data on advanced A.I. intelligence, plant a bomb, jump out of the cargo hold, and then field test the newly advanced Thruster Packs, or ‘JetPacks’ as most of the agents call them. ~~*~~ So they were, Georgia and Carolina, running down the halls of an industrialized space craft, chased by an intense wave of explosions tearing it's way through the ship. “Mind tellin’ me why ya decided to jus’ go an’ blow it up?!” Georgia demanded, his southern accent heavy in his voice as he ran down the hall, disregarding a soldier's scream as he tossed him behind him in hopes of quelling the disaster behind them. “That will have to wait until after we get out Georgia!” Carolina yelled back trying to be heard over the roaring inferno behind them. “Then run yer’ lilly ass outa here! I've got places to be, woman!” He yelled back, breaking down a steel door with a random running soldier's body. “I didn’t join this military to become a battering ram!” Cried the soldier, as he was thrust through the door, comically landing head over heels. Georgia and Carolina continued on down the uselessly long hall, ignoring the random comment. By the time they reached the Cargo Hold they were reaching their limits. Their armor was almost overheated and their stamina was running low. The blast was starting to catch up to them, their only choice was to jump into the vast expanse of space, and test their new equipment. Completely disregarding the safety protocols that are supposed to be adhered to before using. They simply didn't have the time. As they jumped through a hole in the wall, one of the many that riddled the ship from the explosions. They quickly activated their Thruster Packs, barely getting out of the blast radius of the detonating ship. Random projectiles were everywhere, be it debris from the ship, the random soldier who couldn’t make it to an escape pod in time, or any of the many space rocks the drifted around them. Georgia and Carolina bobbed and weaved through the debris expertly, they're countless experiences and training having allow them to swiftly react at the high speeds. However, Georgia was losing sight of the rendezvous point and his partner, fast. He couldn’t keep his eyes straight, exhaustion was catching up to him, and his dodges we're becoming increasingly miscalculated by the second. So it was no surprise to him when he got hit with a random projectile that came from out of his view. What was surprising was when He found that his thruster regulator was jammed, unable to stop boosting him forward at high speeds. “Georgia, stop accelerating, or you’ll go too far off course!” Carolina commanded as she watched her teammate wiz around like a kid on a sugar high. Her worry paramount as he seemed to only get faster, only slowing temporarily when he hit something, only to go off in another direction. “Ah can’t sto-o-o-op it! The damn button is stuck!” With that he flew off into a direction free of debris, too fast for Carolina to follow. He quickly became a spec on the horizon, the lack of friction and gravity in space only making him go faster by the second. He was lost to the depth of space, and she knew it. ~~*~~ No matter how hard he tried the button would not unjam. Giving up, Geogria looked out at the vast amount of astronomical beauties before him. It didn’t take him long to realize that he would likely never be found. He went too far off course, the Thrusters wouldn't stop propelling him forward until it ran out of juice which would leave him to keep moving. A slowly drifting target the size of himself was already nearly impossible to find in the vastness of space, one moving at the speeds he was was way out of the realm of possibility. And to make matters worse they hadn't worn trackers this mission, afraid that they could be picked up by enemy defenses if they kept them on. His eyes started to feel heavy as fatigue started to gain on him. He stared out amongst the stars, and saw a streak of light that resembled a shooting star from back home. His last thought was along the lines of any of soldier that has seen too many battles where things never go their way. ‘Ah wish ah could have jus' one fuckin' break…’ Fatigue finally won over, putting him into a dreamless rest. When he woke up, he immediately noticed changes. First off he appeared to be in a tunnel, secondly, his motion tracker on his HUD was going crazy, saying that whatever he was in was a huge unknown entity. And last, but not least, his Active Camo was semi-activated, most likely malfunctioning, making him look like a ghost. Well, he hoped that was the case anyway. Then there was a flash, another, and another! Soon everything was a bright white. When the light died down he was sitting in a field of lush green colorful grass. He had never seen grass so green and perfect, and the sky, oh the sky, it was a bright blue, completely unblemished by any smog what so ever. He could see beautiful trees, white clouds, cute little animals. Off into one direction, he could see a town, his helmet having used a "zoom" feature to see things from further away, that, instead of having humans, had technicolored ponies, off in the other direction was mountain that held a huge castle, seemingly defying gravity. Behind him was a forest that reminded him of some of the less populated colony forest worlds that hadn't been industrialized. Only one thing came to mind as he took this all in, absentmindedly seeing a pink pony within the previously mentioned town twitch like crazy, look everywhere around her, then zoom off into a random direction. That one thing that came to mind was… “Dibs, ah call dibs on this place.” ~~*~~ Somewhere off in a different part of this land a white alicorn with a multicolored, flowing, mane sneezed. Her eyes widened as she realized what happened. “What is it Tia?” asked a smaller, dark sapphire blue alicorn, with a cobalt blue mane, that seemed to hold the night sky. The white alicorn looked towards its smaller counterpart with fear and... jealousy? Fear that the fate of Equestria has been changed forever, and jealousy for having never thought of it before. “We have been dibbed.” And no one can take something that's been dibbed first.
