Chapter 3

Standing In front of the entrance to the Everfree forest, a tall Alicorn the color of snow slightly furrowed her brow as she glanced at a large tree with several thick, wavy branches that jutted out from the trunk’s exterior. Her rainbow-colored mane flowed in the direction of the wind as her violet eyes locked on a couple of birds darting between the lime-green leaves. Her golden tiara glimmered in the sunlight, creating a blinding refraction of light that lit up the dirty gravel road. The Alicorn’s ears perked up to the familair clop of hooves heading her direction. Turning around, she found herself facing her favorite student.

“Princess Celestia. I read your message.” Twilight said.

“Last night, I sensed a disturbance that originated from deep within the Everfree forest. I don’t know what caused the disturbance, but I figured it wasn’t good. In order to determine what was making such a ruckus, I decided to locate the source. Though, I require your help. After all, there’s no pony I know that could track down potential magic sources better than you.” Celestia said with a sweet smile. Twilight returned the gesture as a response.

“I’m sure we’ll find the source and deal with it quickly. Are you ready to enter?” Twilight said. Celestia gave a affirming nod and trotted down the gravel road with Twilight following close behind.

After several long hours flying over the forest, Twilight and Princess Celestia landed near a stream. It was evident the two equines were in a area that hadn’t been explored in who knows how long. The duo looked around, trying to find anything that could help them figure out the problem. Twilight turned around to face the stream, suddenly yelping in fright. She had inadvertedly walked straight into the snout of the female Gojirasaur’s corpse. Celestia rushed to her student, gasping loudly at the corpse before her. Compared to the dead titan laying in front of them, the two ponies were nothing but miniscule ants.

“My goodness. During all my years as Equestria’s monarch, I thought this creature was nothing but a legend. How wrong I was to believe such a thing.” Celestia said, her statement coming out more of a whisper than a bold sentence. Twilight cautiously walked around the dead reptile, gasping in shock at the number of large, bloody wounds it sustained. It’s neck and throat were ripped open, revealing the massive neck vertebrae buried inside. Celestia wore a expression of dread and sympathy on her face as she inspected the carcass. Whatever had happened, this Gojirasaur was unjustly murdered. No living thing deserves to endure the horrible pain of death, not even a beast as large as this. Twilight summoned all the courage she could muster and trotted past the body, venturing into it’s former lair. She noticed a large nest that was torn asunder, pieces of wood and hay strewn all over the ground. Celestia took to the sky to scan the area, spotting the second Gojirasaur corpse from the air.

“Twilight, there’s another corpse just a few feet from you.” Celestia hollered. Twilight acknowledged the sun diarch but made no effort to see it for herself. She had just connected the pieces of the puzzle together. These were Godzilla’s parents. They didn’t lose their egg. Something else murdered his parents and presumably left the infant to die. Twilight let out a forced sigh as she closed her eyes in sorrow.

What creature would do such a horrible thing?

Celestia landed next to Twilight, eyeing her sorrowful expression.

“Princess, last night I found an egg encased in a log and brought it to Fluttershy. We watched it hatch this morning, and it turned out to be a infant Gojirasaur. These two were his parents....” Twilight said. Celestia took a final glance at the corpses before approaching her pupil with a concerned look.

“A infant?”

“Yes. By now, Fluttershy should have taken it home.”

“I would like to see the infant, if you don’t mind.”

“Of course.”
