Godzilla

Prologue

Night descended on Equestria, showering the land in darkness. The Everfree forest was especially dark and gloomy, it’s monstrous leaves casting a unpleasant aura that could terrify a Cockitrice. Deep in the forest, far enough where no pony would dare to venture, a massive bipedal reptile laid in her nest. The forest looked like little broccoli-shaped bushes compared to the gargantuan female saurian. Lying in a prone position while having the cover of night lay over her like a blanket, it would be no surprise if you mistaken the beast for a mountain. Several birds had used the large jagged dorsal plates that covered the reptile’s back as shelter, building nests inside the narrow spaces between the bladed tips of the jagged spines. The reptile’s mate had left to hunt hours ago, and he hasn’t returned since. The female saurian wore a worried expression as she stared at the horizon. He should’ve been back by now.

SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGK!”

The female immediately whipped her head around, now in a state of awareness. Was that her mate?

SKREEEEEEEEEOOOOOONNNNNGGGGK!!”

There it was again, the unmistakable roar of her mate. The reptile wanted to get up and find out what was happening, but she had to stay with the egg nestled between her leg.

KREEEEEEEKKKK

A shock of terror struck the female like a piercing arrow upon hearing that dreadful sound. There was only one creature that could utter that horrible screech. The female’s danger signals began blaring at her like crazy, forcing her to rise from the prone position. Her fears were realized when she spotted a fight breaking out just miles away.

The rage-filled roar of the male Gojirasaur shook the ground, drowning out the sounds of chirping crickets and croaking frogs. He charged at the giant eight-legged behemoth facing him, clamping his jaws on the beast’s neck. The second creature grappled onto the male Gojirasaur, digging its hooked appendages into the reptile’s scaly skin. With a sudden jerk, the multi-limbed beast threw the male on the ground. Before the male Gojirasaur could recover, the second beast began striking him with vicious blows to the head and neck. The male screeched with pain as he desperately tried to fight back. Right as the behemoth went in for the killing blow, the female Gojirasaur launched herself at the beast and sunk her sharp teeth into the same spot her mate attacked, ripping out a chunk of flesh. Blueish-green blood dripped from the opened wound, but that didn’t stop the eight-legged creature from charging. The beast stabbed its hooks in the female’s gills, violently ripping off chunks of bloody flesh and cartilage while watching a river of blood gush out of the wound. The female’s pained screech was cut short when the behemoth tackled her and sank its teeth into her throat. It crunched down, watching more streams of thick crimson leak from the wound. The beast kept ripping into the female, taking pleasure in her wails of agony. The pained cries were suddenly drowned out by the booming crescendo of energy building up inside the dorsal plates of the male Gojirasaur, who had managed to right himself up. The behemoth turned around right as the male opened his jaws and fired a torrent of blue nuclear flame at his opponent. The multi-limbed beast shrieked with pain as the flames scorched its skin. Hurt and angry, the behemoth charged at the male Gojirasaur, stabbing its hooked claws straight through his neck. The male screeched with agony as he was once again shoved to the ground. The second beast clamped its jaws on the male’s neck and twisted it until the defeaning crunch of broken bones was heard. The female watched with horror as the behemoth dropped the limp form of her beloved mate. Weakened from the blood loss, the desperate female struggled to get to her egg. She took it in her claws and ran off, trying to keep her vision clear. She came across a river, watching the water rush downstream. She grabbed a log and placed the egg inside, pushing the makeshift boat in the water. The female collapsed from pain and exhaustion, watching the log float away until it disappeared from her sight. Her mission completed, the female’s eyelids slowly slid over her light-blue eyes. As the female slumped over, her ragged breathing came to a stop.

The eight-legged behemoth smashed through the foliage of the Everfree forest, uttering a series of angry clicks. It had just missed the egg floating away. The creature treaded over the female Gojirasaur’s corpse, chasing after the egg with vigor. Killing the parents wasn’t enough to satisfy the monster’s bloodthirst. It wanted to kill everyone. Spotting the log which housed the egg inside, the beast increased its speed, opening its terrible jaws to devour the egg. Unexpectedly, the log made a sharp turn down the stream, just narrowly dodging the beast’s jaws. The creature missed its footing while trying to turn, tumbling into the river. The log made its way downstream, leaving the giant creature thrashing in the water.

KREEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKK” Roared the beast as it desperately tried to right itself.

The egg disappeared in the marshes, finally safe from the clutches of the murderous creature. It traveled down the slow-moving water, schools of tiny fish passing the log. It seemed like hours until the egg reached a lake that stood right next to a small town. The log finally rested on the lake’s shore, rocking with the rhythm of the tiny waves that shook it. It wasn’t long until a certain light-purple alicorn came across the log.

“What’s this?” The alicorn said to herself, a bright purple aura wrapping around her horn as she magically levitated the chunk of wood towards her. Normally, a plain old log wouldn’t interest her, but the alicorn noticed something hidden inside. She carefully opened the log, a soft gasp escaping her lips as the egg came into sight.

“Sweet Celestia! How long was this egg here?” The alicorn exclaimed, looking around. No animals that might have been the egg’s parents came out of the marshes looking for their egg. The alicorn sighed, grabbing a medium sized cloth and wrapped it snugly around the egg. She placed the safely inside a basket she was carrying, walking away from the lake.

“Don’t worry, I know a pony who’d love to take care of you.”
