Ishimura: Encounter

As Chrysalis and her new companions departed from the Kellion, and walked onto one of the walkways that rested in the docking area that they had crashed into, Chrysalis took a few seconds to look around and truly take in how massive the Ishimura was, even if this was only a single area of the ship. The Ishimura was an impressive ship, even if it was the only one of its kind she would ever lay her eyes on, and it spoke volumes on how skilled the humans were at building massive constructs like this. It was at this point that she got her first look at the exterior of the Kellion, though as she gazed upon the smaller ship she realized that a good portion of the vessel was damaged from the collision and, if she was seeing things right, it actually looked like they might have lost a section of the ship as well.

The only person that was staring at the Kellion with her, instead of following Hammond towards the sign that was welcoming them to the Ishimura, was Kendra... and her eyes were resting on the same area of the ship that Chrysalis happened to be staring at.

"You didn't lose power to the port booster." Kendra said, though at this point she knew that both of the Corporals, as well as Hammond, would be ignoring her, but she wanted to say it so she could remind them about it later, "You LOST the port booster! Unbelievable."

Chrysalis knew that the port booster was important for a ship, how important she had no idea, but at the same time she didn't want to be left behind and gently grabbed Kendra's shoulder, to which the two of them walked down the walkway and rejoined the rest of their group. Hammond appeared to be listening to the welcoming sign, as if he was trying to figure something out while he and the others were waiting, but the moment he noticed Kendra and Chrysalis coming he snapped to attention and continued walking. Chen and Johnston were ready to go as well and followed after Hammond, though as they walked towards the large door in front of them Chrysalis noticed that the two pilots were carrying strange weapons that had six slots on the front of it... and Hammond happened to be carrying the same weapon.

For a moment she wondered if the pilots and the mission commander expected there to be trouble, since they were carrying weapons, but then she decided that since Hammond was the one in charge of the security details that this was okay for the pilots to do... to which she followed after them and kept her eyes open. One of the things she noticed was that the lights inside the ship were definitely off, which meant that the crew was either asleep or they were working in the darkness without noticing anything different. She also noticed a couple of lockers that were locked, if the red light in the center of them was any indication, and the couple of vending machines appeared to be powered down, meaning that something was definitely happening.

"Guess the power's down everywhere." Hammond said, apparently noticing the same things that Chrysalis had noticed, though that was before he turned towards Isaac, who was standing near the opening they had walked through and was staring at the Kellion, "Isaac, get over here and hack the door pad."

"He can do that?" Chrysalis asked, though at the same time she watched as Isaac approached the seemingly locked door and held a hand towards the center of it, where she watched as he interacted with a light blue hologram of some kind for a few seconds.

"Yeah, its something all engineers are taught in case something like this happens," Isaac replied, knowing that Chrysalis had no idea what engineers could even do, though at the same time he remembered the suit that she was wearing and what it had been made from, "Chrysalis, if you approach a door or locker with a blue symbol, like the one in front of me, you should be able to open them as well..."

The moment the last word left his mouth the door in front of him opened, to which Hammond, Chen, and Johnston walked forward first to be sure that everything was okay while Issac, Kendra, and Chrysalis followed after them... where they discovered that the lounge area looked a little messy thanks to all of the luggage containers that were sitting around the floor.

"Seems like everyone was trying to pack in a hurry." Chrysalis and Kendra said in unison, though they had to stare at each other for a few seconds before Kendra chuckled, as neither of them had seen that coming, nor had they planned on speaking in unison like that.

"There should be a security detail here." Hammond commented, though as the group spread out he glanced around the lounge, because something wasn't right about this and he knew that something strange was going on.

"Yeah, well there's not." Kendra said, though at the same time she glanced down at her monitor and started looking for anything that would help them out, to which her worries only increased when she found nothing, "There's nobody here. I can't pick up any broadcasts."

"Hey, there's a computer inside this room," Chrysalis said, to which the rest of the group turned and looked at her, where they discovered that she was pointing to a security console that was behind some glass, though they were fortunate that there was an entrance to the room she had discovered.

"That security console is still live." Hammond stated, though there was some hope in him now, because now they could figure out what happened and form a solid plan that they could all work from, "Isaac, log in and see what you can find. Chrysalis, you should follow Isaac and see if you spot anything else that's useful. Kendra, get that elevator back online."

Chrysalis was glad that she had found something useful, even though it was a security console and not a computer, which made her realize that the computers had to be personal and the other ones, in a public area like this, served some sort of function for the area it was installed in. Isaac, however, stood by the door that they needed to walk though and beckoned to it, where Chrysalis noticed that it had a light blue icon as well, to which she held a hand out and watched as the door opened before her eyes. She grinned for a few seconds before she and Isaac walked through the opening, though as they walked towards the console, however, the door closed behind them, which she assumed had to be natural... and the only thing that worried her, at that exact moment, was the fact that there was a decent amount of blood on the floor.

"Power's dead Hammond." Kendra said, as she had been standing in front of the elevator for a few seconds and finally stopped looking at her monitor, to which she turned towards their leader, "I can't get the elevator back online."

"Then re-route the damn power!" Hammond snapped, causing everyone to stop in their tracks for a few seconds, as they were expecting them to argue once more, before Hammond sighed and regained himself, "Look, if we all cooperate, we can figure this out a lot sooner. Let's get that computer display up, Isaac."

Isaac glanced over to Chrysalis for a few seconds, to be sure that she was ready for whatever happened after he activated the security console, to which she nodded her head and he tapped the screen, to which an hologram of the Ishimura appeared in front of them... where she then noticed that there were a few red flashing icons on the image, indicating areas of the ship that had to have been damaged in some manner.

"Huh. That doesn't look good." Johnston commented, to which he approached the glass and stared at the hologram from the other side of the glass, while confirming Chrysalis' suspicions as well, "She's taken a lot of damage."

"The tram system's offline. Getting around is going to be difficult." Hammond said, though while he sounded annoyed about that fact the air systems apparently came back on, which told Chrysalis that they had been breathing old air the entire time since their arrival, "The air seems to be flowing again. That's a start."

That was followed by the lights darkening while an alarm sounded, causing Chrysalis' senses to go into high alert as she looked around for some sort of danger, because she sensed that this was some sort of quarantine and that they had tripped something by activating the console.

"What the hell was that?" Kendra asked, though at the same time she sounded frightened and worried, while Chen and Johnston prepared themselves for whatever was going to happen.

"Automatic quarantine must have tripped when the filtration system restarted." Hammond stated, echoing Chrysalis' thoughts on the situation, though even with that confirmation she was still looking for any potential hazards that they might have set off, "Everybody relax..."

That was when a sound rumbled in the vents around them, telling everyone that there was something inside the numerous vents that surrounded them, but all that did was make Chrysalis ball her fists for a few seconds to calm herself down... while at the same time Isaac looked around while trying to determine where the noise was coming from.

"What was that?" Kendra asked, though this time around she was more frightened than she had been a few moments ago, because now there was the potential that something was in the vents, "Did you hear that?!"

"I'm not sure..." Hammond said, to which he pulled up his weapon and glanced around the room, while Chen and Johnston did the same thing, because if there was something in the vents they were going to be prepared for whatever it was when it decided to come out and reveal itself.

Chrysalis watched as one of the vents in the room suddenly burst open and something fell out of it, silently hitting the floor near where Johnston was standing, though Chrysalis' eyes widened as she realized that no one else had noticed the creature hit the floor.

"What the hell?" Johnston said, though at the same time he moved a little bit away from where the vent was located, but not far enough to really do anything in the long run since he had no idea what was lurking near him thanks to the fact that the lights were darkened.

"I don't know! Something's in the room with us!" Kendra called out, though she hoped that her warning about there being something else with them would make everyone survey their surroundings more than they already were.

"Johnston! Behind you!" Chrysalis shouted, as she could see the creature, which appeared to possess a human like form with its arms raised up in the air, approaching Johnston.

Johnston barely had time to turn around before the creature, whatever it happened to be, swung one of its blade like arms and decapitated the man, though before his body even hit the ground the foul monster started to carve up the poor man's body and appeared to hack him apart... while at the same time making Chrysalis sick to her stomach.

"Jesus! Open fire! Open fire!" Hammond shouted, to which he and Chen opened fire on the monster, though while their bullets hit the creature in the chest he knew that they needed to get out of there, "Kendra! Power!"

In that moment there was another bursting sound and a second monstrous creature dropped down near where Chen was standing, causing the man to turn and start firing into its chest as well, though while all of this happened Chrysalis noticed that the monsters weren't dying with all of the ammunition that was being pumped into their chests. She didn't understand how that could be possible, how a creature could still be alive with all of the holes that were being put in their chest, but there was the evidence and her mind was struggling how to understand all of this. While that was going through her mind the second creature jumped onto Chen and started tearing him apart as well, leaving Hammond as the only one of them with a weapon.

"Kendra...!" Hammond shouted, though he was thankful that the creatures appeared to be more focused on tearing apart the bodies of his pilots, as it meant that they weren't coming towards him, Kendra, Isaac, or even Chrysalis.

"Come on... come on." Kendra said, as she had turned her full attention to her monitor the moment Johnston had fallen, despite the fact that both the pilot's and the co-pilot's RIGs had flatlined in the last few seconds, before the door in front of her opened and hope seemed to return, "Got it!"

"Isaac, Chrysalis, get the hell out of there!" Hammond called out to them, though that was followed by the door closing, leaving the two to their fate as the door near them opened.

At that point Chrysalis and Isaac decided that it was time for them to move, to which they headed through the now open door as Kendra called out to them, by their RIGs now less, to get moving before the creatures came for them, though they experienced a slight complication along the way. One of the vents that they ran under happened to explode and another one of those creatures dropped down behind them, though they paid it little mind as they followed the hallway to what appeared to be an elevator. Isaac, being the first to reach it, activated the door and moved into the container, though when Chrysalis reached it she immediately turned around the moment she entered the container and slammed her hand on the control panel... to which the door closed and saved them from the monstrous creature.

Before the elevator could get moving, however, the monstrous creature shoved both of its arms into the crack between the doors and forced it open, to which Chrysalis and Isaac moved to the back of the container and stared at the creature... though when it took a step forward the doors rapidly closed and severed both of it's arms and its head, which rolled around their feet, and hooves, for a few seconds before coming to a stop. A few seconds later the cargo lift, as that was what the control panel called what they were riding in, started it's descend into the Ishimura, to which the two road in silence as they tried to calm their nerves. It didn't take them long to reach wherever the cargo lift was connected to before it came to a stop and opened up, to which Chrysalis and Isaac got out of there as fast as they could... which was followed by Chrysalis opening her helmet up and heaving up what she had for breakfast into the corner.

Isaac, seeing this happen, suddenly felt the urge to do the same thing and did so in an opposite corner, though he recovered from his ordeal and sealed his helmet once more... though that was before he noticed that they were in a repair area for plasma cutters, and that there happened to be one on the workstation. He walked up to the workstation and studied the potential weapon for a few seconds, to which he smiled to himself as he picked it up and pointed it at the wall, where he noticed that it felt good to hold... though he had no idea how well it would serve if more of those monsters revealed themselves. As he lowered his arm he noticed that there was a dead guy leaning against the side of the workstation, someone that had been brutally harmed by one of those creatures, and simply closed the man's eyes while he considered what to do next.

"I see you found something to defend yourself with," Chrysalis commented, though as Isaac turned towards her she noticed something else, something that her companion must have missed while he was studying the weapon, "I wonder what 'CUT OFF THEIR LIMBS' is supposed to mean. Is this guy suggesting that the only way to kill those creatures is to tear off all of their limbs in some manner?"

"I... I think that's what he means," Isaac said, though at the same time he turned towards the two nearby crates and opened them, where he picked up a Med Pack and acquired a thousand credits, which he could use later when they found a store that took them, "Well, at least we have something to defend ourselves with."

"Like I said, you found something to defend yourself with," Chrysalis countered, though she raised a hand to stop Isaac from saying anything, to which she walked over to the cargo lift and levitated the bone blades up from where they had fallen earlier, "and, until we can get back to the lounge area and claim either Chen or Johnston's weapons, these will have to serve me for some time... besides, now that we're on the Ishimura I can start using a higher degree of magic and not have to worry about destroying something in the process.

Isaac had no idea if it was a wise move to use the sharpened bones of the creature that had tried to kill them in the cargo lift, but instead of talking about it he decided that if Chrysalis believed that the blades could be of use to her, and not hinder her, then she might as well use them. Instead he approached a pair of crates and smashed them with his boot, where he found some plasma energy containers, which would allow him to restock his weapon if he ran out of ammunition, before he heard the sound of someone shouting for assistance behind the door he and Chrysalis needed to go through. He glanced over at Chrysalis, who nodded her head and approached the door as well, to which he raised the plasma cutter and blasted the panel that was preventing the door from being opened... though when they opened the door they found one of those creatures finishing off the person that had been calling for aid.

A few seconds later the creature turned towards them and jumped through the doorway, to which Isaac opened fire on the creature's limbs and blew one of it's arms off immediately, knocking the creature backwards for a second... though before he could fire again the creature's legs were removed and caused it to tumble to the floor, where he blasted the other arm off and the creature stopped moving. Isaac turned towards Chrysalis and noticed that the bone blades were floating around her, indicating that she had sliced off the creature's legs while it was distracted by the damage Isaac had caused to it. He watched as she examined her makeshift weapons for a few seconds before carefully removing the rest of the skin and muscle that were attached to the bone blades... though once only the bone remained she nodded and walked through the open doorway.

"So, what exactly are these creatures?" Chrysalis asked, though at the same time she and Isaac walked into the hallway that was in front of them, were they kept their guards up in case more of them showed up.

"Honestly, I have no idea. I've never seen them before," Isaac said, though as he spoke he was sure that no one, save for the potentially few survivors on the Ishimura, knew what these creatures were and where they had come from, "but they have proven that they are capable of moving quickly and attacking with very lethal force, so we'll have to be careful from this point forward. How are you holding up?"

"Well, considering that I just puked up what I had for breakfast, I'd say not well," Chrysalis replied, as she had actually never seen someone torn apart like that and, while she didn't know Chen and Johnston well enough, she had considered them good acquaintances and was actually saddened by their deaths, "Come on, let's keep moving and see if we can't find a place to make contact with the others... provided those creatures didn't get to them first."

Isaac nodded as the two of them came to a door, though on the other side he found a Med Pack that he quickly added to their collection, where he explained that if they were hurt by something, like one of these creatures cutting them, they could use the Med Pack to heal their wounds. The two of them then walked down the short ramp in front of them and found an Audio Log, which Isaac explained was someone recording something for others to hear, before they found that the information on the log was the creatures used the vents to get around the ship and warned them to stay away from the vents... which made Chrysalis a little more worried than she had been a few seconds ago. Once the Audio Log was done the two of them opened the door to the Tram Control Room, where the lights powered on the moment they walked into the room.

The two of them snapped to the right, where the controls were located, and watched as the metallic shields that were on the exterior of the room pulled themselves back and revealed the other side of the tracks that the tram apparently rode on... where Chrysalis and Isaac noticed that Kendra and Hammond were alive and well, and their companions had noticed them as well. A few seconds later an image of both Kendra and Hammond appeared in front of both Chrysalis and Isaac, where Chrysalis remembered that this was a video log, essentially allowing them to speak to one another despite the fact that they were in two separate locations at the moment.

"Isaac! Chrysalis!" Kendra said, though that was followed by her letting out a sigh of relief, indicating that she was happy to see that the two of them had survived their encounter, "God, I can't believe they made it."

"Isaac, Chrysalis, we ran into more of them on the way over here." Hammond wheezed, telling the duo that he and Kendra must have run through their side of the area they were in and didn't stop until they were somewhere safe, "Are the two of you okay?"

"Just a little freaked out over what we just saw," Chrysalis replied, as she was still coming to terms with the fact that two of the people she had met when she first found herself on the Kellion were now dead.

"She means that we're doing fine." Isaac said, knowing that Hammond would prefer to hear that they were fine, which was the truth since neither of them had been harmed during their retreat from the security console or their follow up encounter with one of those creatures.

"More what?" Kendra asked, as now she wanted to return to the original course of their conversation, as there was something they needed to know before they moved forward, "What the hell are those things? Are... are they the crew?!"

"Keep your voice down!" Hammond warned, indicating that he had no idea what was happening, but at the same time he didn't want them to accidentally give themselves away to those creatures, "Whatever they are, they're not friendly! And half the doors on the ship are locked because of the quarantine. Now we have to get to the bridge, but first, we got to repair the tram system."

"You're crazy Hammond." Kendra said, which marked the return of their rivalry, while at the same time she didn't like the situation that they were in at the moment, "You're going to get us all killed."

"If you listen to me, I WILL get you out of here alive." Hammond stated, though Chrysalis detected a lack of conviction in his voice, indicating that he had no idea if he could fulfill such a promise, before sighing and turning his attention back to Kendra, "Now what's wrong with the tram?"

Chrysalis and Isaac watched as Kendra looked down at her monitor again and studied it, where they knew that she was connecting to the information that would allow her to tell Hammond what was wrong, but the look on her face told them that the damage might be more than what Isaac was thinking about.

"The data board's fried but there should be a spare in the Maintenance Bay." Kendra said, where she carefully read everything that was in front of her as she came to one conclusion, something that made her annoyed, "There's also a broken tram blocking the tunnel that needs to be repaired. Dammit, everything is on the other side of this quarantine. We can't reach it from here."

"No we can't... but they can." Hammond replied, to which he raised his arm and looked at the device that was allowing them to speak with Chrysalis and Isaac, where Chrysalis knew that they would have to fight those creatures to make whatever repairs they were talking about, "Isaac, if I can get to the bridge, I should be able to access the personnel files. You fix the tram and I'll help you find Nicole."

Isaac tensed for a moment, as in the heat of what they had all just gone through he had forgotten that one of the reasons he had come back to the Ishimura was to find Nicole and reunite with her, though now he hoped that she had survived whatever was happening to the ship so they could escape together.

"Chrysalis, you used magic to teleport aboard the Kellion," Kendra said, though at the same time she stopped Hammond from deactivating the link between them, indicating that there was something on her mind, "Look, just use whatever spell you used earlier and get away from this terrible place."

"I would if I could," Chrysalis replied, to which she sighed as she tapped in the command to pull her helmet apart, where she stared at the link between them for a few seconds and made sure both Kendra and Hammond could see her when she spoke, "but I'm afraid that such a thing is impossible. I walked through a magical gateway that was being monitored by Discord, the Spirit of Disharmony... so, unless I can find another one like it on the Ishimura, I'm afraid that leaving will be impossible. I'm stuck here for the foreseeable future, though I promise that I will do my best to make sure that we all get out of here alive."

"Okay, then help Isaac repair the tram," Hammond said, to which Chrysalis nodded her understanding as she resealed her helmet, as she knew that she was going to want it up from here on out, "and keep an eye out for those things... there's no telling how many of them are lurking in the vents."

Chrysalis nodded again as the link between them was terminated, though at the same time she knew that there had to be a fair number of those monstrous creatures lurking in the vents... and that she and Isaac were going to have to fight their way through a swarm of them just to repair the tram, and whatever else needed fixing on the Ishimura.
