"Breath,Twilight. I'm sure they'll underst-" Spike tried to calm his owner down as her breathing turns even more frantic.
"But what if they don't?! What if they ban me from ever seeing Sunset again or worse,make me go back to Crystal Prep?!" Twilight argued as she continous to nervously pace back and forth in the confindes of her room as more negative thoughts filled her mind of how her family would react to her confession later on.
"Twily! Dinner is ready!" Her mother's voice called from the intercoms that she herself installed around the house.
Walking to her own intercom,she pressed the button and talked through the speaker to inform her mom that she was coming down. Turning back to face her canine companion,she took a deep breath and then released it afterwards as she thought.
I can do this. They love and support me on the choices I make,surely they'll understand. I hope.
"C'mon Spike." She tooks him in her arms and exited her room and made her way downstairs to the dinning room.

Playing with her fingers under the table,Twilight listened every now and then to what her family's conversation was but most of the time she was preoccupied with her thoughts as how to break the news to her family gently about her relationship with Sunset.
Dinner was coming to a close and Shinning looks about ready to leave and go home to his own family. Feeling some pressure on her leg,Twilight looked down at Spike as he motioned his head for her to tell them already. As she raised her head,she saw Shinning about to leave.
"-but I should really go. Cadence must be getting worried and i'm sure Flurry is getting fussy not seeing her daddy yet." Shinning started to stand up but was stopped by his sister.
"A-actually,can you stay for just a little bit more,Shiny? I-i have something to tell all of you." Looking at the wall clock above the door frame,he can spare a few more minutes to listen to what Twilight was about to say;even if Cadence would kill him for coming home so late. Sitting back down,he said to her.
"Ok,Twily. Shoot."
Twilight took short breaths as she prepared herself." You know valentines day is tomorrow,right?" Getting nods from her family Twilight continued."and that we always have this special valentine soirée with the whole Sparkle family?" Again they nodded but Shinning had an unsettling feeling in his stomach."...well,this year...I may be coming with...a date."
Silence filled the table afterwards as the final two words registered in their minds. There was complete silence until Velvet broke it as she squealed and made her way around the table to embrace her daughter." Ohhh! I'm so happy for you!" Velvet lets go of Twilight and bombered her with questions." Is it anyone we know?! Is he handsome?! Is he a gentleman?! Does he respect your wishes in not getting...you know...suggestive?"
Hearing that,Shinning and Night Light had a dreaded feeling in their stomachs as they turned to Twilight to here her response.
Twilight blushed profusely at the last question but she couldn't leave her mother hanging." Well you know them,but hypothetically,what if I say that that he happened to be a she...what would your reaction be?" Twilight's voice was getting quiter with each word as she awaited her family's reaction.
Silence took over once again and the dread in Night Light's stomach was no more as it was replaced by relief at the reality that his daughter was seeing someone of the same sex. To some fathers this may be deemed inappropriate but Night Light wasn't like them as he loved his daughter with all his heart and would do literally everything in his power to keep his precious little star happy.
The same could be said for Velvet,she loved Twilight and would go to great lenghts to give her the love and support she needs all to show her that she was their for her daughter in every step of the way.
Shinning Armor was slightly relieved but that doesn't mean he was okay with whoever this person dating her sister was. Since some brothers have a tendency to overreact when it comes to their little sisters dating and Shinning was no different. Regardless of what their gender may be,he had to make sure that they were a right fit for her sister. He only wants whats best and what makes her happy.
Night Light and Velvet turned to look at each other and both gave a nod to the other spouse and then looked back at their children,more specifically Twilight,and gave sincere smiles,that shocked the young scientist, with Night Light speaking their thoughts.
"Regardless of what their gender may be,we'll always support you no matter what,Twilight"
Twilight got up from her seat and got in between her mother and father and embraced them as tears of joy started to fall freely." Thank you! This really means a lot to me that you care and that your not dissapointed in me for liking someone with the same sex."
"Oh,Twilight. We could never be dissapointed at you,even if this may seem unsettling at first we will learn to adapt to this." Velvet said and hugged her daughter tightly.
"You're mother's right. Wether or not you date a guy or a girl. Just know that will always love you." Night Light assured her as more tears flowed from Twilight's eyes.
She was glad to have parents like them but one more opinion mattered to her. Looking at the direction of her brother she asked for his opinion in all of this." Shiny? W-what do you think of the aspect of me dating a girl?"
Shinning was silent for a few minutes,Twilight's nervousness was beggining to come back up again as she waited her brother's reply.
"As happy as I am for you,I have to get to know this girl first before I can have my say in this." Was Shinning's reply,not what Twilight expected but it was as good as any,not that she blamed him. If she were the older sibling,she would have taken precaution as well to get to know the person his brother was dating.
"Ok,I respect that." Twilight said smiling.
"Dinner's been great,but I have to go." Shinning stood up from his seat and made his way to the hall leading to the front door.
"Ok! Drive safe honey!" He heard his mother call out to him before he got out the door and made his way to the direction of his car.
Opening the door and getting in,he started the ignition and pulled out of the driveway and started his drive back to his own home where his wife and child were waiting for his return. Throughout the whole trip he couldn't get his mind off the conversation earlier back at his childhood home.
Stopping at a red light,Shinning had a few minutes to think about the whole girl dating his sister ordeal.
Although i'm glad that it isn't a boy that doesn't mean that I trust this girl. For all I know she might be an infamous rulebreaker. Or maybe even-
His thoughts was interrupted by a revving noise beside him. Turning his head,he saw it was someone with a motorcycle even if he can't see them throughh the visor just,by looking at them he could tell it was a female with crimson and ember hair and just about Twilight's age or older. The driver looked at his direction for a millisecond and turned her direction back at the road,as did Shinning. When the light turned green,the motorcyle eventually zoomed off at high speed.
Shinning Armor shakes his head and clicks his tongue at the recklessness."Teenagers these days..."

Twilight and Sunset lay on the latters bed in blissful silence as Twilight was reading a book in her girlfriend's arm while Sunset herself was busy on MyStable. Not the ideal Valentines date couples would mostly agree on but the presecnce of the other was more than satisfactory.
"Sunny?" Twilight heard a hum in response."do you remember what I said about the family gathering we have every Valentines day?"
"What about it?" Sunset asked as she continues to scroll through her phone.
"Well...I told my family about us yesterday." She felt Sunset stiffen but she continues."...and their fine with it,partially,but still fine. And I was wondering...would you accompany tonight? I mean i'll understand if you decline. I know you have things to deal with yourself and I wouldn't want you w-"
Twilight cuts herself off when Sunset peck her cheek. She looked at the older girl to see her smiling her way.
"I would love to come,but you could've just said so earlier. This is kindof last minute but I'm sure I can find something to wear."
"Well whatever you chose,i'm sure you'll look smashing. It's semi formal by the way" Twilight leaned up and gave Sunset a soft kiss on the cheek.

Lanterns illuminated the parks surroundings as the Sparkle family gathering was now in full swing. This year it was Twilight's family's turn to host this exclusive soirée. They wanted to have it in a spacious land and their backyard wasn't really all that big so they decided on the park.
"So where's this girlfriend of yours,Twily?" Cadence asked as she craddled Flurry Heart.
"She's on her way." Twilight replied,taking another glance at her phone and tucking it away afterwards.
Suddenly a loud revving noise caught everybodys attention as they looked at the direction to the entrance of the park to see someone parking and dismounting their bike. Shinning felt like there was something oddly familiar about this bike,and that hair.
No! Heck no! That couldn't be!
"Sunny! You made it!" He heard his sister greet the newcomer and ran to hug them.
"You have got to be kidding me" Shinning thought outloud.
Once they separated they finally got a good look of Sunset. And they won't lie,Sunset has looks that could very well rival Cadence's. Especially for someone so young.
She was dressed in just a simple pair of denim jeans and a button down that was white,dotted,and the collar and ends of the sleeves were colored a midnight blue with dots and they were also rolled up to her elbows. She was also wearing a sky blue converse.
"You look great!" Twilight complimented.
"And you look ravishing." Sunset gave a flirty smirk at the bispectacled girl causing her to blush fiercely at the supposed compliment.
Twilight was clad in a sparkling royal blue dress that ended above her knees and the back tailing behind her. The dress had a sweatheart neckline that exposed her collar bone,and a silver belt on the waist that showed off her form so well. For foot wear she wore flats,for accesorries she had daimond earings and her hair was in a braided bun.
Twilight took Sunset's hand in hers and lead her to her family. When they were close Cadence easily recognize the girl and was the first to greet her.
"Sunset Shimmer! Long time no see."
"I can say the same to you,how's the promotion going?"
"Oh,it's fine. Still getting used to being adressed as principal rather than dean."
Twilight took her girlfriend's attention away from her sister-in-law and directed it to her parents and brother." Mom,Dad,Shiny. I would like you to meet Sunset Shimmer. My girlfriend." She said proudly with a genuine smile,while Sunset gave a nervous wave and smile.
"H-hi. It's really a pleasure to finally meet you."
Twilight Velvet and Night Light smiled at Sunset while Shinning kept a stoic face as he watch his parents associate with Sunset.
"You'll really like her once you get to know her." Twilight said suddenly beside him making him flinch in surprise.
Shinning sighed."I know. I shouldn't let looks decieve me."
"Just go talk to her,Shinning. I promise you there is a lot more to her than what's on the outside." Twilight looked at her brother almost pleadingly,which she knew he couldn't deny.
Shinning Armor chuckled at her,"Alright,i'll give her a chance."

As the events of the night progressed,Twilight introduced Sunset to the rest of her relatives. Even if they thought it was a joke at first,they come to approve of the couple seeing how Sunset have had a positive impact on Twilight. The only person who was disapproving of their relationship was Twilight's Aunt Ruby. Though she wasn't exactly per se against their relationship,she was against the fact of someone like Sunset dating her niece. At first glance some would eventually conclude that Sunset was an unsafe,reckless,and irresponsible teen.
Luckily Sunset had been given a chance to prove herself worthy of Twilight's affection. The orchestra was running late and it was Twilight herself who suggested Sunset by playing the violin for the Moonlit waltz,even if she had to miss her own waltz. And playing with Twilight's cousins and with many other circumstances,had brought a whole new perspective to her Aunt Ruby as she quickly realize that she shouldn't base how Sunset is on her looks but with how she acts around others.
However,Shinning Armor still had doubts about her and he also hadn't fulfill his promise to his sister to speak with her. Twilight noticed of course so that's why she brought both Shinning and Sunset out of the party and lead them somewhere where noone can here them where she said also that You two better talk or so help me I will purposely inject a dangerous and highly lethal chemical in your veins.
So that's what's pretty much left them there standing beside each other but not looking in the direction of the other. Sunset couldn't stand the pressure any longer and was the first to speak"I'm sorry."
Shinning looked at her in surprise."What are you talking about"
"About how you're afraid that i'm taking Twilight away from you." Sunset sits down on the grass and pats the space beside her,gesturing for Shinning to seat down next her." I know you're thinking that when she finds someone who will take her for her flaws and all,you would feel like she doesn't need you anymore."
Shinning sighed as he looked at Sunset."She told you huh?"
Sunset nodded." Yeah,she pretty much told me about how you've been gone from the start of her adolescence years."
"I'm sorry,I must've given you the wrong impression."
"It's cool. I understand what you're going through,but we have to let things go sometimes. Not everything stays young forever." Sunset tried to console him by offering a smile in which he returned.
Shinning looked up the sky above as he stared at the glowing moon." Its just been so long since I last saw her. She looked so young,so inoccent,so gullible but now that i've seen how much she's grown. I couldn't help but be selfish that I wanted her all to myself and nobody else,except for the family of course, and when she said that shes been seeing someone. I was tempted to go to a labratory and make them create a serum that would regress her age just so she can stay as my little sister a little while longer. That must've sounded stupid right."
Sunset shook her head,"Nope,seems reasonable."
Turning his gaze from the moon to Sunset,he recalled all the things that happened tonight and all the good that she had dispalyed." Just promise me one thing though."
"What's that?"
"That you'll treat her like a princess." Sunset laughed at the irony of the word but none the less she Pinkie Promised.
"Believe when I say that she already is and always will be a princess." Sunset concluded as she gave Shinning a smile to which he returned as both turned their gazes away from each other and directed it to the moon.
There was only silence until finally,"So?...do you play video games?"
Shinning Armor smiled as he says."I'm starting to like you already,Shimmer."
