Inferno hummed to himself as he got dressed. He also listened carefully to the busy footsteps of Rarity as she feverishly worked on her next big project. She always throws herself into her work with all her passion and enthusiasm. Giving it more than her all. A smile crept onto Inferno's face. No wonder I like her so much. Plus, she's got an eye for style. I always like that in a girl. Inferno exited the guestroom he was occupying, and headed to the main area of Carousel Boutique. He saw five dresses with designs that reflected the rest of the Main 6. "Business as usual? Or is this order personal?"
"Inferno!" Rarity said with a smile. "Always a pleasure to have you admire my work. And to answer your question, this is a personal work. You see, the girls stopped by earlier. They were quite taken with my designs, and brought forth the fact that none of them had anything to wear for the Grand Gala. I for one could not let such a travesty transpire, so I took it upon myself to intervene and craft them dresses that will reflect them perfectly!" A fond smile spread across Rarity's face. "Nothing makes me happier than doing something to make the people I care about happy."
Inferno blushed at seeing Rarity like this. She really does have inner beauty to match her outer beauty. Someone this generous, really is a rarity. "That's pretty grand of you to do for your friends. It's no wonder you became the Element of Generosity. I'm sure the girls are going to love your work."
"You certainly have an eye for good style darling." Rarity said with a giggle. "Oh, I just can't wait to see their faces once they see their dresses!" Rarity then came to a realization! "Oh! I just forgot! Are you and the boys coming along with us to the gala? I can make as many suits as needed for you and your friends!"
Inferno shook his head. "We're going alright. But we've got no intention of dressing up that much." Besides. We've got other plans for that stuffy gala. "Burst's going to see if he can ask Princess Celestia for about six tickets. Hopefully it'll be a less eventful process than Twilight's ticket dilemma."
"Well, I can respect your decision darling." Rarity said with a sigh. "Besides, I've put most of my efforts into the dresses I've crafted for the girls. They'll be here within the hour." Sure enough, the rest of the Main 6 arrived. However, none of them were pleased with the dresses Rarity had made for them. Namely because the dresses weren't designed the way they'd wanted them to be. "Oh...it's no problem! I'll just make a new set of dresses! Ones tailored to your exact wishes!"
Once again, Rarity whipped herself into a frenzy as she set about working on the new dresses. But as he watched her work, Inferno's heart sank. Rarity had poured so much care into her initial dresses. She put all her thought into them...and the girls just decided to reject them in her face?! Inferno then took note of Rarity's fading energy. She was pouring whatever she had left into these new dresses. And while they were designed to the rest of the Main 6's designs, they looked horrible when actually realized. Rarity was about to pass out, but fortunately Inferno caught her and wrapped one of his wings around her. "Hey. Easy there. You've done your job. What you need to worry about now is resting."
"Thank you Inferno." Rarity said as she rested her head against Inferno's chest as she closed her eyes. "I think...that's just what I need." She failed to notice Inferno's blush as she started to drift off to sleep. Inferno gulped nervously as he carried Rarity to her bed, and set her down. "How sweet of you." Rarity said with a tired smile.
Inferno smiled nervously. "Less talk. Just focus on relaxing." Inferno waited for Rarity to fall asleep before planting a quick kiss on her forehead. His blush turned a deep crimson as he bolted out of the room. What in tartarus made me do that?! Inferno shook his head. No time to think about that now! I've got to track down the other girls! I have a few things I'd like to discuss with them. But as Inferno left, he was unaware that Rarity's dreams had an uninvited visitor. Night Terror studied the dream of Rarity failing to please her friends.
"Interesting." Night Terror said with an evil smile as he teleported out. "This is something I shall have to keep a close eye on. It could prove quite useful to me later..."
Meanwhile, Inferno had gathered the rest of the Main 6. "I bet you're all wondering why I called you all here." Inferno began as he paced back and forth. "Well. I'm here to say I'm disgusted by your earlier behavior. How could you all be so careless?!" Inferno noted the confused looks of the girls' faces, and sighed. "I'm talking about those first dresses Rarity made for you. She put ALL of her heart, effort, and thought into them because she wanted to make you all happy! Because nothing made her happier than doing good things for her friends. And what did you all do? You basically threw it back in her face!" The girls had ashamed looks on their faces. "Haven't any of you received a gift from someone close to you that you'd never use or wear, but always keep around because you knew they put so much thought into it? The same principle applies here with Rarity!" Inferno sighed. "The point is, you all screwed up. But the good news is, it's not too late to make things right. And there's another chance to show Rarity how much you care about her, and appreciate what she did for you."
"We're with you Inferno." Twilight said with a nod. "I just hope that we can pull this off. So what's the plan?"
Inferno smiled. "Rarity's been busy making your dresses. I think it's only fair that we get busy with hers..." And with that, Inferno and the rest of the Main 6 set about completing Rarity's dress while she slumbered. An hour or two later, the dress was completed. And Inferno headed into Rarity's room to wake her up. "Rarity." Inferno gently nudged Rarity's sleeping form. "C'mon! I've got a surprise for you! It's a little reward for all the hard work you've been putting in for the dresses! It's outside!"
"Coming darling..." Rarity said with a yawn as she stretched. Inferno excitedly led Rarity outside. "Now. Just what is this big-" Rarity's jaw dropped as she stared at her completed gala dress. "...Surprise?" At that instant, Twilight and the other girls came out with the gala dresses Rarity had made for her. "I-I don't understand! You all said that those dresses weren't to your liking!"
Twilight scratched her head. "We were wrong to say that Rarity. We didn't know how much thought you'd put into these." She then looked herself over. "And it really shows. We turned the dresses away before we even tried them out."
"What we did was mighty inconsiderate sugarcube." Applejack said as she removed her hat. "Shucks, Ah guess any of us would feel lousy if something we put a lotta thought into was shot down from any of us."
Rarity's eyes teared up t hearing this. "Oh girls...I don't know how I can possibly thank you all for this!"
"Thank Inferno." Rainbow Dash said with a smirk. "He's the one who talked some sense into us. And he's the one who had the bright idea to work on your dress while you were catching some z's."
Rarity turned to face Inferno. "Inferno...is this true darling?"
"Well...you put a lot of passion into those first dresses." Inferno said as he began to blush. "And...I didn't want to see you without a dress at the night you've been looking forward to for months. So I-" Inferno was cut short as Rarity jumped on him and kissed him on the cheek!
Rarity smiled blissfully. "Thank you darling. You've made such wonderful use of your potential." Rarity released Inferno, but was troubled by the blank look on Inferno's face. "Inferno? Are you alright?"
Inferno's wings shot out, and he rocketed into the sky! "WOOOOHOOOOOO!" She kissed me! She kissed me! I hope Spike doesn't think I stole her, but she kissed me!
