//------------------------------// // Chapter 1: The Menace // Story: Event Horizon // by FandomPlays1234 //------------------------------// Crescent groaned as she got to her feet. Looking around she found herself on the ground next to the pony she was thrown off with. When she looked up she gasped to find that the entire sky had turned completely black. It was as if night had taken place but instead no stars were visible and she could clearly see the buildings in the distance without any sunlight. She looked around but no other ponies seemed to be nearby. She had to find some help, but she couldn't just leave this pony here. Crescent groaned and walked over to the pony and began shaking her. "Wake up, wake up oh come on wake up!" she pleaded. The pony winced as she slowly sat up. "Ow my head," said the pony. "Oh thank Arceus you're awake," sighed Crescent. The pony looked over and yelped. "Hey whoa calm down I'm not gonna hurt you," The pony slowly but surely inched back towards Crescent. "Oh no you're hurt," gasped Crescent. "What I'm not bleeding or anything am I?" asked the mare. "No, I mean I don't think so, you have a broken horn that's all," answered Crescent. "Oh that, don't worry about, that's from a little while back," said the mare. "I see," said Crescent. "Well if you're well then I guess that's fine," "Yeah for now," said the pony. "Who are you anyway?" "My name is Crescent, I'm technically a Lunala from the Pokemon World but I guess I ended up here in this form," answered Crescent. But the pony just stared at her as if she was talking in a foreign language. "Alright let me explain," said Crescent sighing. For the next few minutes Crescent explained to the pony about who she was, where she was from, who she was looking for etc. "Look I know this is a lot to take in but I know that if you stick with me for the time being, you'll get used to being around me," said Crescent. "Well I don't like how this is going but I guess I have no choice," said the mare. "Sorry I can't do more for you," apologized Crescent. "It's not you're fault, some things can't be helped," said the mare. "By the way, you never introduced yourself," said Crescent. "Oh right, I'm Tempest, Tempest Shadow," said the mare. "Tempest, sounds cool," said Crescent. "Thanks," said Tempest. The two sat and laughed for a while before they pulled themselves back together. "So you said you were looking for your brother, maybe if you would like I can help you out," said Tempest. "Really you mean it?" asked Crescent. "Well I mean we're stuck with each other so," said Tempest. "Oh wow thank you, and maybe I can help get you're friends back," said Crescent. "That'll be great," said Tempest. The two froze when they heard a quiet moan from somewhere. "What was that?" asked Crescent. The moan came again but this time louder. "That sounded like it came from over the hill," said Tempest. "Should we check it out?" asked Crescent. Tempest nodded as she led Crescent over to the hill. When they got to the top they noticed a stallion on the ground covered in bruises and cuts. He was squirming on the ground moaning loudly as if he had a stomach ache. "Oh no that poor pony," gasped Crescent. "Wait something doesn't look right, let me handle this," said Tempest stopping her. She slowly walked over to the stallion to check on his condition. As she got closer the moaning got louder until it was clear he was in pain. "Hey are you ok sir?" asked Tempest. the stallion didn't answer but kept moaning until his body stopped squirming and lay still. "Sir?" asked Tempest as she inched closer. Suddenly his body shot up making Tempest freeze in place. The stallion slowly turned around to face Tempest. Tempest feeling uneasy slowly backed away and up the hill. "Tempest is everything alright?" asked Crescent. "Crescent you might wanna run," said Tempest. Just as Crescent layed her eyes on what Tempest saw, she instantly felt chills run up her back. The stallion was not only bruised and cut in multiple places, but he was also staring at the two with deep hollow eye sockets and a wide demonic grin with sharp teeth. Crescent began to back away and was just about to turn around, when the stallion pointed his hoof at them and let out a high pitched blood curdling screech as it jumped up and ran towards them. The two yelped and began running back where they came from with the stallion in high pursuit. Just as Crescent thought they could escape, she tripped over a rock and fell. "Crescent!" Tempest called out turning around. Crescent turned around to see the stallion had already caught up with them. Whimpering Crescent covered her face with her hooves as she waited for her demise. If Tempest was fast enough she would be able to save Crescent, but she saw how fast the stallion was. She would never make it. Tempest clenched her teeth trying to figure something out when suddenly a loud bang echoed throughout the area and a a sudden recoil sending the stallion flying back. "What?" asked Tempest. Crescent opened her eyes to see she was still alive. She scrambled to her feet and ran over to Tempest. "What happened?" asked Crescent. "Careful now ladies, don't wanna let down your guard just yet," a voice spoke up. The two turned around to see a human standing there wearing a brown vest with brown pants and cowboy boots. He had a stetson hat like the one Applejack wore and gloves. He had a piece of wheat in his mouth while twirling an old western revolver. "Tch those things have been giving me all sorts of trouble since I got here," said the human. "Um sorry who are you?" asked Tempest? The human twirled his revolver and shoved it back into it's holster. "The name's Elliot, I may be a human but I'm actually a Vision," answered the human. "Uh huh, well thanks for saving us there Elliot," said Crescent. "No need to thank me, I'm just doing my job," said Elliot. "Your job?" asked Tempest. "Like I said, I'm a Vision," answered Elliot. "Vision, you mean like a dream or trance?" asked Crescent. "Not exactly," said Elliot. He was about to answer when more groaning could be heard coming towards them. "Tch damn that gunshot must've attracted more of Menace," grunted Elliot. "What?" asked Crescent. "Look I'll explain everything later, right now we can't stay here," said Elliot. "Well ok that's reasonable, but where do we go?" asked Tempest. "Follow me," said Elliot running down the hill towards the village. Tempest and Crescent didn't waste anytime in running after him. Along the way they had to stop couple of times in order to keep themselves from dragging attention to themselves before they finally ducked into the sugarcube corner where the cakes were waiting for them. They had their windows and doors all boarded so that the outside world was blocked and once the three ran inside they immediately locked the doors behind them. The three took a seat while both of the cakes gave them tea and deserts. "So what exactly happened back there?" asked Crescent as Elliot was polishing his revolver. "Yeah what was that thing that attacked us?" asked Tempest. "A Menace," answered Elliot. "A what?" asked Tempest. "A Menace," Elliot repeated. "They're a supernatural entity that are forced to live in the Event Horizon for eternal damnation after death," he added. "Event Horizon?" asked Crescent. "Event Horizon is the name of the black hole/ void that we've given," answered Elliot. "It's a world where souls that have committed too many crimes go to be punished for all eternity," added Elliot. "Event Horizon has nothing but darkness and evil lurking inside, a place no soul wants to go after death," added Elliot. "Yeah no kidding," said Tempest. "But that thing, that Menace, you say it's a supernatural entity, are all Menace like that?" asked Crescent. "You could say that," answered Elliot. "Menaces come in different varieties, although they have the same ability as to one another," "Like what?" asked Tempest. "That stallion you saw, he was possessed by a Menace," answered Elliot. "You can be possessed by these things?!" asked Crescent. "They ARE supernatural so pretty much yes," answered Elliot. "However some Menaces prefer other ways of inflicting harm on the living," added Elliot. "Like how?" asked Tempest nervously. "Some Menaces, may possess, others can act violently by throwing objects like a Poltergeist, others can force their victims by controlling their bodies but not their minds, while others just straight up attack the victims," answered Elliot. The two looked at each other nervously and gulped. "Although there is one Menace that is stronger than all the others, or should I say 5, those Menace are called Menace Controllers, in which they control other Menaces like puppets so they could fulfill their ambitions," Crescent inched closer to Tempest starting to tremble. "These Menaces are much more powerful and violent than any of the other Menaces so it's extremely dangerous to run into one. "But then there is the so-called king of the Menaces, which is the more powerful and extremely hostile compared to all the other Menaces and Menace Controllers," "What can the King do?" asked Crescent trembling. "Well many call him the king but others call him 'The Ultra Menace' or by his real name, Pitch Black," answered Elliot. "He's capable of body possession and shape shifting but he's most recognized by his violent and hostile behavior, a literal nightmare as many would say," "How strong are the Menace Controllers?" Tempest asked swallowing hard. "Oh they're strong alright, not to mention with five of them in total it's scary enough," answered Elliot. "I'm pretty sure you guys encountered one of them several hours earlier with the whole black hole thing in the sky," "Wait so that thing was a Menace Controller?" asked Crescent. "Yes however since Menaces can't leave the Event Horizon they have to drag their victims into their lairs, is this what many of you would say the point of no return?" asked Elliot. "Wait does that mean we can't save our friends?" asked Tempest. "No, no only Menaces can't escape, the living can get out, the only problem is with all the Menaces lurking inside Event Horizon, I don't think they'll let their prey out so easily," answered Elliot. "How do we save them then?" asked Crescent. "We have to beat the Menace Controller that's keeping them from escaping, thats Eclipse," answered Elliot. "Eclipse?" asked Tempest. "Oh yeah, each of the 5 Menace Controllers have nicknames that we gave them, there's Shadoe, Cynister, Crysis, Black Whole, and Eclipse," answered Elliot. "And we're dealing with Eclipse right now?" asked Crescent. "Yes, beating them is hard though, since you need Visions like me," answered Elliot. "You said Visions but not like the trance or dream, so what are Visions?" asked Crescent. "Visions are special individuals who has the ability to see Menaces, they can tell if a Menace is nearby or right next to you," answered Elliot. "Ok, so is there anyway we can beat these Menaces?" asked Tempest. "Like I said earlier, some Menaces tend to possess victims, when that happens you need to lure them out or have the victim break free from their control, since Menaces are weak after possessing a victim they can easily lose control if the victim tries hard enough, but if a Menace stays in a victims body for too long, the Menace destroys the victim's heart and soul and gains complete control of the victim, when that happens the only thing you can do is kill the victim," answered Elliot. "Is that it, there has to be some other way we can save the victim," said Crescent. "The only other way we can save a victim from possession is if you can get a Witch or Priest, witches who have mastered the arts of Witchcraft can easily overpower a Menace and remove them from the victim's body while on the other hand a Priest can easily use their powers to lure the Menace out," answered Elliot. "What about killing a Menace?" asked Tempest. "Shoot them in the head or beheading them is the best way to go, just like killing a Zombie," answered Elliot. "Thank Celestia, killing Menaces are easy," said Tempest. "Yes however Menaces can get very hostile and dangerous so you really need to be careful," added Elliot. "Alright got it," said Crescent. "So now you know a little bit about Menaces, how about telling me what you two plan to do from here on out," said Elliot. The two looked at each other and nodded. Of course they didn't know what might happen if they do this, but Elliot is all they have. Trust him or not, they needed him.
