//------------------------------// // A Message // Story: The Fourth Siren // by Amber is a fossil //------------------------------// Sunset Shimmer and the Rainbooms were walking down the hallway still puzzled by what just happened. "Those girls are definitely in possession of some kind of dark magic. I mean how else could you explain what happened back there?" Sunset suggested. "Don't worry, y'all." Applejack reassured them. "We'll let Principal Celestia know all about this and those girls will be kicked to the curb in no time. Last thing she needs is another CHS event almost ruined by some power-crazed lunatic." She relized what she said and turned to Sunset. "Er, no offense." She said apologetically. "None taken." Sunset sighed. The girls walk into the principals office, but things didn't work out the way they thought. "Those new girls have used some sort of dark magic in the cafeteria that riled up all the other students and they could be planning on doing worse things." Sunset said. Principal Celestia checked the window to make sure no one was watching. "Dark magic? I find that very hard to believe. Those new girls came into my office earlier and were absolutely delightful." She said. Vice Principal Luna then cut in. "Ugh! Perhaps Sunset Shimmer is just eager to make someone else out to be a bad element, so that her actions at the Fall Formal will become old news." "I could see why you might think that, but—" Sunset said. Rainbow Dash then cut in. "That's not what's happening! We saw all of this go down in the cafeteria too!" "Yes, but isn't your band supposed to be part of the Musical Showcase?" Principal Celestia asked. "Yes." Rainbow Dash said. "Perhaps you're all just worried that the Dazzlings will steal your spotlight." Vice Principal Luna suggested. "The 'Dazzlings'?" Applejack asked. "Yes, that's the name of their musical group. In fact that's why the four of them came by my office earlier today – to sign up for the Showcase. One of them, Melody, had even sang a little song to Vice Principal Luna and I." Principal Celestia said. "They did?" Applejack asked. "Yes. And we think having a Battle of the Bands instead is a marvelous idea." Principal Celestia said. Then her eyes and Luna's both turned green, showing that they were under the Sirens' spell. Everyone was outside in front of the statue distressed about their situation. "I can't believe they got to Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna too." Fluttershy said while letting a ladybug climb on her. "They've gotten to everybody." Rainbow Dash said while bouncing a soccer ball. "Not everybody!" Pinkie Pie said as she circled to everyone from the top of the statue. "Pinkie Pie's right. We were there when the Dazzlings were singin' and we weren't affected. It was like we were protected somehow." Applejack said. "So let's take them down! It's not like we haven't tangled with dark magic before and totally whooped its sorry butt!" Rainbow Dash said as she caught her ball, but then realized what she said. "Uh, no offense." Sunset sighed. "None taken. Again." "But that was when Twilight was here. There may be some kind of magic inside us, but it only comes out when we play music. I sure don't know how to use it to... whoop anybody's butt." Fluttershy said as she saw the ladybug flying. Rarity sighed as she painted her nails. "If only we could get a message to Twilight. Maybe she could tell us how we can break the spell the Dazzlings have cast on our friends." "Well, that's not gonna happen. The portal's closed." Rainbow said as she tossed her ball at the statue, which bounced right off, and also caused Rarity to duck which made her mark nail polish all along her arm which caused her to gasp again. "And I get the feeling they don't exactly have cell phones where she's from." "What really doesn't seem to make sense is Melody. She seems so nice and polite, but according to Principal Celestia she was the one who sang the song and probably cast the spell on her and Vice Principal Luna." Applejack said. "Maybe it's an act. Try to get all nice to people so they trust her so she can backstab them." Rainbow speculated. "I don't think so. When we just saw them a little while ago, Melody seemed to be sad. Maybe her sisters forced her to help, so that what ever spell they cast would be stronger. Her kindness was genuine, I could feel it!" Fluttershy said. "Whatever the case, we need to find someway to contact Twilight. If we don't, who knows what the Dazzlings might do!" Rarity said as she wiped the nail polish off her arm. Sunset then got an idea. "I may have an idea how we can get in touch with Princess Twilight!" All six of them ran back into the school to Sunset's locker. She opened it and pulled out a book that had her Cutie Mark on it. "When I was Princess Celestia's student back in Equestria, she gave me this. Even after I abandoned my studies, I held onto it. Deep down, I guess I knew I was making a big mistake, and I wanted to still have a way to reach out to her. Maybe it still works." She then brushed off the dust and opened it to a blank page. "That's a book, darling. What do you mean, "maybe still works"?" Rarity asked. "It used to be that if I wrote something here, it would appear in the pages of a book back in Princess Celestia's library. I get a message to her, then she can get a message to Princess Twilight." Sunset explained. "So what are you waiting for? Get to writing!" Rainbow then handed her a pen. Sunset grabbed the pen and sighed. "Been a long time since I've written these words. "Dear Princess Celestia..." *** In Equestria In Twilight's new castle, everypony was just relaxing and enjoying that there was no great evil endangering Equestria. Then an Earth pony walked in with at mountain of books. "Excuse me, Princess. Where do you want all these books from Princess Celestia?" The delivery pony asked. "The library. Third door on the left." Twilight said. "Even this one that's glowin' and vibratin'?" The delivery pony asked as the top book was glowing brightly. Twilight them used her magic to summon the book, which had Celestia's Cutie Mark on it. She then opened the book and flipped to a page and read it, which shocked her greatly. "What is it, Twilight?" Fluttershy asked as she walked up to her. "It looks like a message to Princess Celestia from my friends at Canterlot High." Twilight said as she continued to read the message and grew worried. "How is that even possible?" Rarity asked. "I have no idea, but it... sounds like they need my help." Twilight closed the book and headed towards the door. "I need to consult with the other Princesses on this." "What exactly is going on?" Spike asked. "It seems a new, well old threat has targeted Canterlot High. I just need Celestia and Luna to help me confirm this. I just hope I'm wrong." The Mane 6 and Spike made their way to Canterlot and Twilight showed Princess Celestia and Princess Luna the message Sunset Shimmer sent. "I can't believe that she took the book I gave her when she left, and she has even kept it after all this time." Celestia was touched by this as she started to flip the pages to see the older entries. "Besides that, it would appear that this other world is indeed in jeopardy." Princess Luna said as she took the book from her sister. "Would somepony please tell us what is going on?!" Rainbow Dash said as she grew impatient. "Come with me. You must see this." Celestia said as she led the others down the hallway of stained glass showing Equestria's greatest heros and enemies. She pointed to a portrait of three purple, blue, and yellow sea horse like creatures that had red gems in the center of each of their chests. The portrait showed them circling a pony village from ancient times, appearing to be singing and the ponies were fighting one another. "So I was right. This is really bad." Twilight said. "Pardon me, but what does this picture have to do with the problem in the other world?" Applejack asked. "This picture is the problem. For in this portrait depicts those who are causing the trouble: the Sirens." Luna explained. "No! Not the Sirens!" Pinkie Pie said. "I don't actually know what that is!" She whispered loudly to Fluttershy. Twilight then turned towards her friends as she explained. "Back in ancient times, the Sirens were three beautiful but deadly creatures who had the power to charm ponies with their music. But in order for them to maintain their powers, they had to feed on the negativity and distrust of others. The more of this negative energy they consumed, the stronger and more influential their voices became, and the farther they could spread their dark magic." "I don't think I like this story very much." Fluttershy said. "If the Sirens had their way, they would have divided and conquered all of Equestria. But a certain Star Swirl the Bearded wasn't going to have it. Legend has it, he had found a way to banish them to another world – one where he believed their magic powers would be lost forever. That world must have been the one where my Canterlot High friends live." "Hang on now, Star Swirl must have sent them there ages ago. Why would they just be surfacin' now?" Applejack asked. "Yeah, and Sunset's message mentioned four girls, and you said there was three of them." Rarity pointed out. "I don't know why they've waited till now to try something. But when I went there, I looked like the natives, and it appears that the Sirens have too. So my hunch is that the Sirens might have, um, mated with someone and this fourth one might be one of their offspring." Twilight speculated. "And believe us this spell that they've cast is only the beginning." Celestia said. "Which is why I need to get to my friends and help them out!" Twilight said as she began to run out the door, but then Rainbow Dash flew in front of her. "I hate to burst your bubble, Twilight, but the connection between their world and Equestria will still be totally cut off for a super long time." Rainbow reminded her. "Okay, first of all, if there was bubble-blowing going on, why wasn't I told about it?! And secondly, if the connection is totally cut off, how was Sunset Shimmer able to get a message to Twilight?" Pinkie Pie inserted. Twilight then gasped. "Pinkie, you're a genius!" "Yeah, I get that a lot." She then grabbed Rainbow Dash. "Now about those bubbles..." *** The next morning in the Human World… Sunset and the others were sitting in front of the statue discussing what Twilight wrote back to them. "So let me get this straight, the Dazzlings are really magical creatures from Equestria that got dumped into this world so they wouldn't take over that world?" Rainbow asked. "Yes. The Sirens were feared throughout ancient Equestria, and still to this day. Twilight said she would be here as soon as she can." Sunset said. "But accordin' to you and Twilight the portal won't be open again for a long time." Applejack said. "Yes, on its own that is. But Twilight said she can use the magical link in the two books to force open the link in the portal. It will take some time however. Until then we should keep a close eye on the Dazzlings." "Maybe we can still be friends with Melody and ask her what's going on with them!" Pinkie Pie said. "I seriously doubt that she would just tell us their plans for world domination." Rainbow said. "Maybe not, but we can still us this to our advantage. Having Melody as our friend could give us an edge." Sunset said. "Maybe, but I really don't think we should be friends with Melody just because she's a Siren." Rarity said. "I agree with Rarity. She seems genuinely nice, and I think we all know villains aren't all bad at heart." Fluttershy said as she looked at Sunset. "Find, but I didn't think we should completely trust her. We might be immune to her dark spell, but betrayal by someone you trust can leave a nasty mark." Sunset was referring to the Spring Fling and how she traumatized Rarity for the crown. "So it's settled. We'll be friends with Melody, but we need to watch our backs." Applejack said. "Agreed." Everyone else said.
