//------------------------------// // S1E6: Adagio & The Big Red Crane // Story: Thomas & Friends: The Dazzlings (S1) // by SodorSiren //------------------------------// It was another beautiful day on the Island of Sodor. The engines were doing their jobs to impress the Fat Controller. One morning, at the Sodor Search And Rescue Center, Rocky The Rescue Crane was talking with Belle, Flynn, Harold and whoever that magnet truck is. "It's Butch, Mr. Narrator," said the magnet truck. "Oh, sorry about that. I forgot. Anyway." The rescue vehicles were chatting with each other. "So Rocky, how is your hook doing?" asked Harold. "Great," replied Rocky. "And so, I blasted that fire to smithereens. I was a really useful engine," said Belle. The other rescue vehicles laughed. "I saved a siren. She was singing "Battle of the Bands", chimed in Harold. Everyone then froze for a moment. "Harold, how many times I have to tell you that they are the main protagonists of this fanfiction series?" "But Mr. Narrator, I thought Thomas was the main protagonist and that the streamlined engines were the antagonists of Rainbow Rocks," uttered Harold. "Whatever, Harold. Just go back to whatever you are doing." Suddenly, the alarm bell rings. "Emergency! Emergency! Adagio is trapped at the Vicarstown Bridge!" cried the alarm. "I'LL SAVE THAT ENGINE IN DISTRESS!" exclaimed Rocky. And so, Belle coupled up to him and they both set off for the Vicarstown Bridge. There, Adagio is halfway under the lifted bridge, crying for help. "ANY ENGINE?! HELP ME!" shouted Adagio. "I'm trapped. The bridge is about to close on me soon!" "Why not call 911?" "Mr. Narrator, Sodor is part of the UK, so it's 999! And engines don't have phones!" exclaimed Adagio. "Oh, all right. Carry on, then." Suddenly, Rocky and Belle arrived. Rocky got his hook ready. "Don't worry, Adagio. I will save you!" shouted Rocky. His hook then got attached to Adagio's coupler. "Hurry. I'm about to fall!" pleaded Adagio. Rocky used all his might to pull Adagio back on the rails. Adagio was very pleased that Rocky saved her. "Oh, thank you, thank you very much!" cried Adagio in joy. "You are most welcome," replied Rocky. "That's what we rescue vehicles do!" Adagio then had to be repaired at the Steamworks. Two days later, Rocky is back at the Sodor Search And Rescue Center. "Good to have my hook relaxed," said Rocky. Then he heard two different whistles. It was Thomas and Adagio. "Hi, Rocky," greeted Thomas. "Hello, Thomas. What brings you here to the SSARC?" asked Rocky. "Adagio wanted to give you something in return," said Thomas. Adagio's driver then got out of her and walked over to Rocky. He placed something on Rocky's side. It was a necklace with a gem that almost looked like Adagio's pendant. "Thanks Adagio," said Rocky. "You're welcome, my hero," replied Adagio. Suddenly, the alarm bell rang again. "Aria is off the line at Ulfstead Castle! The drawbridge is broken. We need Rocky now!" cried the alarm. "We're going to save your sister, Adagio. Why not couple up to me?" Rocky asked. "Sure," replied Adagio. So she coupled up to Rocky and off the trio went at high speed to Ulfstead Castle. There, Aria was trapped under the collapsed drawbridge. "Don't worry, Aria. You will be back on the rails in no time," assured Rocky. "Yeah, whatever. Just carry me up," replied Aria. First, Rocky placed Aria back on the rails. Then, he placed her tender back on the rails, too. "Hey, Adagio. Hey Thomas," said Aria. "Hey, sister. How was your day at Ulfstead Castle?" asked Adagio. "Pretty great, Adagio. That coffee pot and that yellow Rocket guy treated me nicely," replied Aria, referring to Glynn and Stephen. "She was our greatest guest ever," said Stephen. "We even gave her a tour of the estate," chimed in Glynn. "Until that drawbridge broke." "Oh, I see," said Thomas. "That's why Aria had her accident." "Yeah, Thomas," replied Aria. "Now if you excuse me, I have to get to the Steamworks to get checked on." And so, Aria chugged away. Back at the SSARC, Rocky told the other rescue vehicles about his adventure. "And so, I pulled Adagio like a strong lorry," explained Rocky. "That's really great of you, Rocky. You really deserve that necklace from her," said Harold in amazement. "Seriously, Mr. Narrator, why is that pendant necessary? Wouldn't that cause the rescue vehicles to fight each other?" "For Lady and Celestia's sakes, can you please stop disagreeing with Rainbow Rocks, Harold?" "Sorry, Mr. Narrator. I really don't like how you didn't include us in saving Aria." "Don't feel bad, Harold. You'll get a major spot next season." And so, Rocky was happy about being able to be a Really Useful Rescue Crane. The end.
