My Christmas Gift

by SweetyBelleluvsu

Merry Christmas

It was the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except maybe Emerald Isle.

She walked through the house with a smile on her face,
For all around she could feel Christmas' grace.

In front of her a book, with pictures and stories alike.
She continued to read them all, in the silence of the night.

Emerald read of her childhood, with crusaders and friends,
Above were some pictures, both fun and strange, taken with an obviously cracked camera lens.

She turned to page,
and to her utter delight,
She recalled the store of how she met Valiant Charge one night.

She had run through the forest, trying to find a lost toy,
When she literally ran into a small unicorn boy. (Or Colt, just needed a rhyme)

They hit it off instantly and chatted the entire night,
When they finally made it back home they were both greeted by living room lights.

Both in a bit of trouble, but parents glad they were safe,
They remained friends, even to this date

Emerald turned the page and was filled with glee.
She said to herself, "I wonder if fluffy remembers me"

They day the two had met was nearing a special wedding day.
They both were to be flower girls, but all they wanted to do was chill with the cat and play.

The mischief they had gotten into was far beyond imagine,
The worst thing they did started with pranking a certain purple dragon...

Another page turned, another memory recalled.
She saw a picture to a story she hardly remembered at all.

She read the story and was filled with delight,
As she read the story of her and Stellar Bubbles, and the day the school they did ignite. (Yes with fire)

They had been partners, on that one fateful day,
In chemistry class on a warm afternoon in May.

On their final project they worked as hard as they could,
But the Bunsen burner that exploded when the tried to petrify wood...

The page turned for Emerald to see two others, one purple, and one gray.
It was twilight and discord on their wedding day.

Emerald was flower girl, and spike the ring bearer,
Emerald just wanted to burn that dress to see it again? Never.

Right next to the wedding pictures was a tale of pure horror.
The day her aunt Rarity had placed a box of makeup before her.

After running around for what seemed like hours,
Rarity had covered the poor filly's Dave with many colors.

Emerald quickly turned the page and smiled to herself, she read more stories and looked at more pictures. She hear hoofsteps coming and she peaked above the book to see her daughter Rose.

"Couldn't sleep?" Emerald asked as she patted the spot next to her.

Rose made her way over and snuggled up to Emerald.

"I'm too excited!" She said as she pulled the blanket of herself. "I've never been visited by santa hooves before!"

Emerald let out a laugh at her young filly and set the book to the side.

"You still don't want to tell me what you asked santa hooves for?" Emerald asked.

"If I tell you, it might not come!" Rose told her.

Emerald nodded.

"I see, I'm sorry for asking."

"Don't worry," Rose said before giving her mom a hug.

"Why wasn't I invited to this snuggle party?" Counter Chaos said as he entered the room with tired eyes. Rose's face lit up before jumping up and running to him.

"You want to join us?" She asked excitedly.

Chaos put his hoof to his chin and pretended to be in depends thought.

"I have an idea," he began to propose, "why don't we make hot chocolate and turn on a movie?"

"Can we watch the Grinch?" Rose asked hopefully.

Both Emerald and Chaos laughed.

"That would be up to your mother." Chaos said as he nodded to Emerald.

"I don't care," she said as she stood up. "I'll start on the hot chocolate."

"Don't forget the mini marshmallows!" Rose called before running to the bookshelf to find the movie.

Once the hot chocolate was made and the movie was retrieved, they gathered once again in the living room and sat close together.

"What kind of blanket do we want?" Chaos asked as Rose took a sip of her drink.

"A giant quilt with my future cutie mark on it!" She said after some thought.

Emerald held back a laugh and Chaos simply shook his head.

"Alright, if you insist!" He snapped his talon hoof and a large quilt was resting lazily over them with the words "my future cutie mark" on it.

Rose simply facehoofed and handed the movie to Emerald.

"How does this work again?" Rose asked as she looked at the disk with curiosity.

"Well, you're supposed to be able to put in into a box and then it will play on a bigger, flatter box." Emerald explained as she took the disk from the case.

"Where did you get it?" Rose asked.

"From the land of two legged creatures and hands, but that's a story for another time." Emerald said before lifting the disk with her magic and placing it upon her horn.

Her horn lit up in a white aura and began to project the movie onto the wall. The sounds came from seemingly nowhere and seemed so lifelike.

About an hour later, Chaos carried a sleeping filly to her room and Emerald cleaned up the living room. She was almost done when she noticed the book she had discarded earlier. She picked it up and flipped through the final pages. She made it to the final one and decided to add one more story.

She wrote down the events of this night and smiled. She returned the quill to the desk and closed the book, placing back on the shelf.

Emerald finally decided to head upstairs to bed. On her way up she looked out the window and saw the sight of a sleigh and reindeer. She smiled to herself and made one final Christmas wish.

"I wish for Rose to be happy and accept the present we give her tommorow..." She said softly and turned back to head up the stairs.

In the morning there was squealing and happiness all throughout Ponyville. But if there was one gift we could see before the story ends, it would be the envelope on a small Christmas tree in the farmhouse of the once Sweet Apple Acres. What was inside? A gift that would bring a young filly into a family forever.
