A Day At My Uncle's

Chapter 1

It is a sunny day outside when Rainbow lands down in a boom in front of Spitfire after a hard morning of practice. "Good job today, Crash," says Spitfire, "you're good to turn in for the day and clean up. You're then free to leave. What are you going to be doing this weekend?"

"Going to go see my uncle, Rainbow Blaze, I haven't seen him in forever," responds Rainbow before she flies off and into the barracks, showers, dries off, then flies off to her uncles. A few minutes later, she arrives at her uncle's.

"Hey Uncle RB," says Rainbow Dash, "it's good to see you!" She squeals as she flies into his hooves.

"It's good to see you, too, my little Rainbow Dash. How's practice going? How are you enjoying being a Wonderbolt? How's my old pal, Spitfire?" asks Rainbow Blaze.

"Practice is going well and I absolutely love being a Wonderbolt. Spitfire is doing great. She misses you, Uncle RB. She actually teared up a little bit when I told her I was coming to see you for the weekend."

"Well, I'm glad she misses me. I'm glad she still cares about me," responds Blaze with a smile.

"Why don't you ever talk to her yourself, just out of curiosity?" asks Rainbow Dash.

"She kicked me off the team, why would I show my face to her after that?" responds Rainbow Blaze with a sigh.

"Why did she kick you off the team, anyway?" responds Rainbow Dash.

"Because back when I was on the team, teammates weren't allowed to date, she saw it as a distraction," responds Rainbow Blaze.

"Well, that rule is gone now," responds Rainbow Dash, "Soaren and I are dating and we're both still on the team. Maybe she'll let you back on."

"Yeah, maybe," responds Rainbow Blaze, "now why don't you go get some rest before dinner? Your room is upstairs."

Rainbow Dash nods and flies up to her room. Once in her room, she just rolls her eyes. "He hasn't changed it since I was last here as a filly. There's still the same kiddy canopy above the bed and everything. What the flippin' hay? Does he even realize I'm a grown mare now." Rainbow then just plops down on the bed and lets out a giant shout. "I'm not a foal anymore!" she screams. Rainbow Blaze, hearing the shout, then flies up the stairs.

"RD, what's wrong?" he asks.

"Why does my room still look like it did back when I used to visit here as a filly?" responds Rainbow annoyed.

"Well, I haven't gotten around to changing it," responds Blaze. "I probably should. Why don't we redo it together?"

"Okay," responds Rainbow, "that would be nice."

A few hours later, the two remove all the childish things from the room, toss out the canopy, and begin repainting. After five hours, they finish repainting then bring the bed back into the room and place it against the wall. They then add Rainbow's Wonderbolt figurine and poster back into the room and then change the lightbulbs. The two sigh as they wipe the sweat from their foreheads. "That was fun," sighs Rainbow Blaze.

"It sure was," responds Rainbow Dash as she embraces him in a hug. "Now how about some lunch? How about that mac n cheese you used to make me all the time?"

"Sure," responds Rainbow Blaze, "I can do that." He cleans up then goes downstairs and makes Rainbow Dash some mac n cheese while she sits on her bed and reads some Daring Do and some comic books. Maybe this weekend with her uncle won't be so bad after all.
