//------------------------------// // Chapter 28-The Significance of Fiery Rose // Story: Dystopia: Equestria // by Creativa-Artly01 //------------------------------// After returning home after dropping the royals back off in Ponyville, Fiery Rose is greeted by her three little foals. "Mommy! Mommy!" cheer her children as they jump into her arms. "I'm glad to see all of you again," responds Fiery Rose with a smile. "My little Lilac, Lily, and Jude." She then takes the three over to the couch and sits them down and tells them about her life over the past few weeks. "So," she explains to them, "I was on an undercover mission within an assassin group to protect several royals from them. It was an experience I will never forget." "You have the coolest job ever," respond the children in unison. She then picks them up, plops them on her back, and they go outside to play. Outside, the children laugh as they play on the slide and swing on the swing. All the while, Fiery Rose can't help but smile. She's glad to be home and she's glad she's not going to be leaving them again anytime soon as the assassins are all dead. A few hours later, the four return back inside and sit down to dinner. "Momma, where is daddy?" ask the three foals. "Wasn't he supposed to be home by now?" "Yes," responds Fiery, "he was, but I'm sure he's fine." A few hours later, Fiery Rose gets a heartbreaking letter from the mailmare. "I'm sorry, Miss," she says before leaving and returning to her truck. Fiery then opens the letter and reads it. "Ms. Fiery Rose, we are sorry to inform you," she reads, "that your husband died while on the battlefield. He won't be coming home. He wanted you to have this, it's his medal. Sincerely, your husband's comrade, Maldrick." Fiery Rose then picks the medal out of the envelope and dangles it in the air. She then bursts into tears as she takes the medal inside. Her children look at her confused. "What's wrong, momma?" asks Jude as he tugs at his mother's leg. "Daddy's not coming home," responds Fiery Rose. "Why not?" responds Jude. "Because he died in battle," responds Fiery Rose. "He died in defense of his country like any other noble pony." She then plops down on the couch and Jude and his sisters plop down beside her and lay their heads on her lap. The four then begin to cry together. These next few years are going to be rough for them. Fiery now knows that much to be true.
