//------------------------------// // Prologue: A Quest in a House. // Story: Harth's Flower // by Roxsy Variant //------------------------------// “And they lived happily ever after, The end.” Morning said, closing the book. It was one of her favorite books from her childhood. Morning smiled and remembered those days, when they were trapped by snow storms she and her siblings used to gather round the fire while her old grandmare would read them stories. It was a tradition she continued that tradition today. “Awwwwhhhhh,” The three colts wined in disappointment, rolling out of their blankets, “It’s over already?” Moring grind widely, caching them in their faults, “So, you did like it?” “Uh, No!” Frisby sputtered, trying to salvage his pride, “Um. It needed more giant spiders!” “There weren’t en—” Morning was interrupted when Firework flapped out of his blankets. “And demons!” “I thought that the ending was unsatisfying because it was clearly insinuated that the annulet held the lov—what are you looking at?” “Boomerang! Your nerd talk throw off the mood!” Firework exclaimed. “Hey boys,” Morning Glory said standing up to catch their attention, “Don’t raise your voice, I’m talking Candle up to her bed, and I don’t want to wake her up.” “Mommy, I’m already awake.” little Candle Flame said peeping her head up from the arm chair. Moring Glory just groaned, plopping back down next to Candle. Turning her gaze to the fireplace. Frisbee and Boomerang slowly settled back into their blankets, now whispering to each other. Firework hovered over them, refusing to join his brethren. His mind was clearly working on a tough simulation, so Morning let him go. Several logs in the fireplace collapsed, being consumed by the flames, sending a wave of sparks up the chimney. Feeling a small poke Morning turned to the little unicorn who’s eyes gleamed back at her, “I liked the story, mommy.” Morning laughed, wrapping a wing around her daughter. “The story really could’ve had some giant spiders.” Frisbee whispered to Boomerang, just loud enough for everypony to hear. The young earth pony then had an epiphany, “Oh, I know, we can get giant spider rider cutie marks!” Upon hearing that Firework halted in his gliding “That would be awesome!” he said, landing next to his friends. “And cool. Imagine how fast we could go if we have rideable spiders” Boomerang said, now sitting up. “And we could go even faster with spider silk, swinging from tree to tree.” “Spider silk is super strong so we could make a ton of bits—” “Hey” Firework exclaimed, “Let’s go! We have one quest!” he said, starting to chant, “To get giant spider rider cutie marks!” The two earth ponies stood up, joining their pegasus brother. “Destiny Knights U-knight!” then the trio charged to the door. “Boy’s wait!” Morning Glory said as she leapt out of her chair to cash them, but before she could reach them, they made it to the door, and with a grate heave pulled the door open, only to be met with a mini avalanche. Their burial by snow earned a fit of laughter and a groan. Such a humiliating defeat for the Destiny Knights (U-knight), will not be forgotten. The snow may have defeated them this time, but one day it will be gone, and when it is, they will be ready.
