//------------------------------// // The Indecipherable Dream // Story: The Island of Tambelon // by Rakoon1 //------------------------------// Star, the young prince of the Light Kingdom, was at that moment at the library reading intensively a pile of books. It had passed some weeks since the war and the young prince had passed most of that time at the library, doing nothing but reading all the books he could about all the places in the Pony World. Ever since the end of the war, Star had been trying to fulfil his great-grandfather’s last wish before dying: to release the kingdom he had conquered to the Lord of Chaos when he was Grogar called Tambelon. However, his research was not going very well. “Ah, this is pointless!” he exclaimed, while he put aside another book to the already big pile of other books. “There’s nothing here about Tambelon. I mean, there is, but it’s only references.” “I’m surprised to hear you say something like that” Kurama, the Nine-Tails, said to his jinchuriki in their plane, with a sneering smile. “The great hero of the war against the Lord of Chaos, the one who never gave up even before the greatest of all the evil beings, declaring defeat over a bunch of books.” “Very funny…” Star replied to him sarcastically. “But there must be a book with the information I need. The library of the Light Castle has only references of Tambelon and the fact that it was petrified for over a millennium doesn’t help very much.” “Well, I know a place where you can get all the answers you need” Kurama said. “Why searching in this limited library, when you can search in the center of all knowledge?” “You know that if I go to the Mirrored Library, Mirror Coat will know that I’m there and it’s very possible that he will tell my parents” Star replied. “But it’s not like they will never found out about what you’re doing” Kurama replied. “Unless you’re planning to do it on your own.” “Of course not, but…” Star Knight replied with a sigh. “What if, when I explain this to my parents, they put me out of it, just like they did at the beginning of the war? My great-grandfather asked me to release Tambelon. I can’t let him down.” “Ah… you never cease to be a naïve foul, don’t you?” Kurama asked. “Well, do as you please.” After their talk, Star used his magic to put the books at their respective places and then headed to the exit. When he was about to open the door, it opened and Twilight appeared. “Star, so you’re here” she said. “I was wondered where you were?” “Yeah, I was… just reading one of grandma’s Daring Doo books” the young alicorn prince lied. “You have been here for a long time since the end of the war” Twilight noted. “Is everything okay?” “Yeah, sure…” Star replied. “Sorry, mom, but… I’m late to my training with dad.” “That’s the reason why I was looking for you, son” Twilight said. “Your father had to go to Canterlot, so you two won’t be able to do your daily training.” “But why, is everything okay?” Star asked. “Oh, it’s nothing to worry about” Twilight replied. “He just went to talk with Princess Luna because of some bad dreams that are bothering him.” “I see… Well, I just hope he can get over it.” At Canterlot Castle, Blue had come to meet with Luna and, while they got inside the princess of the night’s office, he said: “Thank you for receiving me at this time of the day, Princess Luna. I believe you must be tired from the night.” “Don’t worry, Blue Sword” she replied, while sitting behind her desk. “I’m always available to help when it comes with dreams. So, what is bothering you?” “I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m having a very strange dream that has been haunting me for time” Blue told. “I normally choose to stay away from the Generals’ dreams” Luna said. “That is because you developed powerful defenses in your minds after what happened when Oogie Boogie entered in Heartbeat’s dreams.” “Well, this dream…” Blue said. “I don’t know how to describe it. It is like it is a warning, because, even if I remain awake during the night, I end up falling asleep just to have it.” Luna made a thoughtful look, while trying to find an explanation, and then she said: “You may be right. This can be a warning. Can you describe it, please?” “Well, I’m in a strange place, one that I never saw before, as well three mysterious figures” Blue told. “And then a voice that I never heard before said the time was coming for destruction. I believe a new threat is coming, but I want to be sure of it. Maybe, with your help, it is possible to know more.” “We can try” Luna replied. “Very well, I can induce sleep to you, so I can get inside. I will take a look to that dream and see what I can get from it.” Blue nodded, agreeing with that approach. Luna then charged her horn and released a scent that, when Blue inhaled it, put him asleep. After the General of Balance fall asleep, Luna focused her magic again and she got in the Dream World. Arriving there, she started to pass through the corridor full of doors that were the entrance to every sentient beings’ dreams. At that moment, most of the doors were sealed, as their respective owners were awakened, but Luna paid no attention to those, as the only one she had in mind was Blue’s. It didn’t take long for her to arrive there: a dark blue door with silver waving lines. Luna opened and enter it. For a moment, she didn’t see anything, but then images appeared, like the place that appeared in Blue’s dream. Luna, looking around, couldn’t believe what she was seeing. That place… She recognized it from the time before her banishment to the moon. It was then that everything around turned into ruins, while a voice said: “The three Talismans… The Talismans must be collected… For the bringer of Destruction.” And the image of the three mysterious figures appeared, along with their respective objects. With that, Blue woke up, forcing Luna to return to the real world. “I… don’t know what to think” Luna said. “You were right in being concern about this dream.” “But can’t you find an explanation?” Blue asked. “Dreams like this one are very vague and difficult to interpret” Luna replied. “If we follow the most likely hypothesis and, if the dream is really real, then we can assume that the Lord of Chaos may be planning something with these talismans.” “And how can we be sure of that?” Blue asked. “You can start with the place in your dream” Luna replied. “You know it?” “Before I was banished, yes” Luna replied. “But right now, it is consumed by darkness. Nopony exactly knows what happened to it, only that the villains were able to conquer it to their master.” “And what’s this place’s name?” Blue asked. “Tambelon…” Luna replied.
