//------------------------------// // Is It Over? // Story: Falling // by Maddie Koester //------------------------------// It was Platinum Streak, the colt who sits next to me in class! Sometimes I forget he's even there because he's so quiet all the time. We all stared in shock as he came up beside me. "This sweater matches complexion and it fits her just right, and she shines brighter than any of you. You guys are just people who can't make yourselves feel good so you make others feel worse, just so you can stand on top of them! Oh, and I heard something about kindergarten. I think you guys would fit perfectly there. After, all you have to steal her work to get good grades," he pointed out. "Stay out of this loser!" Copper growled. "Nah, let's go," he replied and beckoned me to follow him. I got up and walked past them: I can't believe he actually stood up to them. We went over to a bench and sat down. "Hey, thanks for helping me," I smiled. "Well, your not the only they've bothered. Shining Feather? Right?" he said. "Yep, that's me. I had no idea you were bullied bu them too." I commented. "Yeah, I have a dream, but it's impossible. They found out last year and stated bullying me about it," he stated. "What was your dream, or did it change? You don't have to tell me, if you don't to." I grinned. "I-I want to become a Wonderbolt... and I have been trying to make a machine to make me fly. It's stupid, I know," he sighed. "No, it's amazing! I've never known someone who has enough hope to keep trying for over a year! Maybe I can help!" I chirped. "Maybe, do you want to come over after school tomorrow?" he asked. "I'll ask my mother," I said. We spent the rest of the recess talking about his machine. I noticed the bullies watching me all day. Their eyes burned into the back of my head during class. I hoped they realized I wouldn't let let them bother me again. Platinum helped me realize they aren't all powerful. They're normal foals, like me. At the end of the of the day Platinum sat with me on the swings as we waited for all parents. Copper Shell was still there too, staring at us with her cold grey eyes. My mother came first. I packed up my things and went to ask her if I could go to Platinum's house tomorrow. "Yes, you may go to Platinum's house, Shining Feather. But I have to met his parent or guardian first," mother replied. Then a pink earth pony mare arrived, she had a a purple and white mane, as she passed us she glared at my mother. My mother turned her head away only to see Copper Shell's father. He was a dark grey earth pony stallion with a light teal and grey mane and tail. I now saw where Copper Shell got her cold, hard, grey eyes from. "Hi, Silver Spoon! Long time no s-," he started. "I don't want to speak with you Polished Pebble. Let's go Shining. she called as I turned and started to walk away. This Polished Pebble pony looked hurt. I was surprised my mother didn't wait for Platinum's mom to show up. I was also surprised she didn't want to talk to Polished Pebble. "What did he do that my mother is so upset about?" I wondered. When we got home I asked her why we didn't wait for Platinum's mom and why she had refused to talk to Copper's father. She refused to talk about either of the questions, and sent me upstairs to work on homework. "I hope Platinum and I can still be friends. I prayed to myself, as I started to think about his invention.
