Sonata's Sleep Issues

Night Four - Nightmares

Sonata was upset and scared because it was 2:00 in the morning, but she'd maybe only slept for about an hour max because she kept having nightmares, every time she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, she got a new nightmare and she couldn't figure out what it was from. She had to guess it was from the scary movie she'd heard her sisters watching earlier, even though she hadn't been watching it, she'd still heard it and hadn't liked it. Sonata knew very well that she was going to have to go and get Aria and ask her for help because she wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep on her own and she knew that. She quietly got out of bed, walked over to her door and quietly opened it. She heard the sound of Adagio's TV coming from her oldest sister's room and knew she'd have to go really quietly, as to not draw Adagio's attention. Sonata quickly and quietly walked down the hall to Aria's room and entered without hesitation, opening and closing the door quietly so Adagio wouldn't hear it, she'd also closed her door so if Adagio woke up before her and Aria in the morning, she'd think Sonata was asleep in her room, since the doors were all usually closed at night when the girls slept. Sonata quickly walked over to Aria's bed, seeing that Aria was laying on her left side and facing her door as she walked over, she reached Aria's bed and quietly knelt down beside the bed and then reached out with her hands and gently shook her older sister.

"Sonata what's wrong this time?" Aria asked after she opened one eye to see who wanted her, knowing what it was most likely for when she saw Sonata in front of her.

"I keep having nightmares and can't sleep." Sonata explained to her sister as she tried to climb up on her bed.

"Ok, Sonata, I really think we need to schedule an appointment with your psychologist because this is now the fourth straight night you've had troubles sleeping and we need to figure out why." Aria explained softly to her sister, moving over so she could get on the bed.

"I know." Sonata said quietly, she didn't really want to go see her psychologist but she knew Aria was right and that it was what they needed to do in order to solve what was going on, or at least try and solve what was going on.

"Anyways, what do you keep having nightmares about?" Aria asked Sonata slowly, rubbing her shoulder to keep her calm.

"The scary movie you and Adagio were watching." Sonata answered, looking up at her sister and moving closer to her so she'd feel safe.

"But why? You weren't watching it." Aria said confusingly.

"I know but I could still hear it and now I think I'm trying to piece together in my head the picture of what was happening." Sonata explained calmly.

"That makes sense, you do have anxiety and your mind tends to do that a lot doesn't it." Aria softly said, allowing Sonata to cover herself up with the covers once Sonata had kind of gotten herself comfortable.

"Yeah." Sonata said, grabbing her sister's covers and pulling them over top of herself.

"Is Adagio's TV bugging you two because it's still on so she must still be up." Aria asked Sonata, she'd heard Adagio's TV on at 11:00 when she'd gone to bed and was kind of surprised her sister was still up.

"Not really, I didn't really know it was on until I came to get you." Sonata answered, turning to look towards Aria's door, listening to Adagio's TV.

"Well that's good then." Aria replied, glancing at the clock on her dresser beside her bed and seeing it was almost two thirty in the morning.

"Ari." Sonata said a few minutes later.

"Yes." Aria answered, looking at her sister.

"How come Adagio doesn't seem to understand the fact that I can't handle scary movies because of my anxiety?" Sonata asked, she'd been wanting to ask her sister this all day but had never gotten a chance to because Adagio'd always been around them.

"I don't really know, but it might have something to do with the fact that she was an only child and has really never been exposed to someone with anxiety as bad as yours and probably isn't used to it and doesn't get it." Aria answered, she herself did not know the exact answer so she gave her sister her opinion on why she thought Adagio didn't understand Sonata's anxiety.

"Do you think I should ask her tomorrow or not?" Sonata asked again.

"I think you could ask her, I don't see a problem with that, she might but just tell her you want to know why." Aria explained, glancing at the clock again, she wanted to go back to bed but she had to wait until Sonata was ready to go back to bed.

"When are you gonna get an appointment with my psychologist?" Sonata asked her sister again, she was kind of cautious about it because she knew her sister didn't really like lots of questions at one time.

"Well I'm going to call her tomorrow and see when she can get you in and then we will go from there." Aria answered again.

"Sorry for all these questions." Sonata said, giving Aria an apologetic look.

"It's fine, you just want to know and I'm not minding that." Aria explained, knowing her sister knew she hated lots of questions at once but it wasn't really bothering her because she knew her sister was only asking her these questions all at once because she wanted answers and was probably slightly worried about the things she was asking.

"Can we go to bed Ari?" Sonata asked, yawning as she slid down in Aria's bed and rested head on Aria's pillow.

"We sure can." Aria answered, doing the same thing as Sonata. Sonata moved over and gently rested head on the base of Aria's neck and began breathing down her chest.

"Night Ari." Sonata said before closing her eyes.

"Goodnight Sonata." Aria whispered, waiting until Sonata had drifted off into a deep sleep before she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
