Starlight's Journal: The Goddess Complex
I know what you're probably asking yourself. Who is The Goddess?
(Trixie comments on this. "Wait...who?" she asks)
(Starlight sighs. "She's the one who created the three major pony races. You know, pegasai, unicorns and earth ponies." Starlight explains.)
(Trixie looks shocked. "What!?" she exclaims. "How does that work?!" she asks frantically.)
(Starlight sighs again. "If you pay attention, you'll learn." she explains. Trixie falls silent at that, now directing all her attention to Starlight.)
As I was saying, The Goddess is a legendary figure, that unfortunately, very few of us know about. The most major thing we can learn about her, through very intensive research, is that she is princess Celestia and Luna's mother. And that she took over, when Omnipotence and Eclipsa's reign ended abruptly, and upon her becoming the ruler of the empire, she very quickly became the most beloved and widely respected if not outright worshiped of all rulers on Concordia.
She was said to embody leadership, unparalleled wisdom, grace, kindness and beauty to bring tears to ones eyes. She is also the one who led to the alicorn race branching off into the three major pony races we know of today.
But there is still much we do not know about her: Where she herself came from? How did she know so much? Was she related to Omnipotence and Eclipsa in some way?
There's little the book has to say on these subjects, unfortunately. It does explain that she was very much an alicorn, and that she was a member of the Alicorn Empire. That she was gifted in many things, namely writing and understanding others in ways not even they understood about themselves.
She could talk to anypony, it didn't matter who, and make them feel like they had known her their whole lives. She was never upset, never angry and just....knew. Everything.
It's listed that she of course took over as the ruler of the empire when Omnipotence and Eclipsa stepped down at the beginning of the 3rd age; The Age Of The Goddess.
The Age Of The Goddess
The beginning of The Age Of The Goddess marked the start of a sort of Renaissance for the alicorn empire. Under her guidance, the empire prospered beyond measure, achieving new feats of technology, magic and all manner of amazing inventions that we know of and use today.
The biggest thing, was that several alicorns wished to change themselves as Oceana had, in order to pursue what they loved. It was The Goddess that allowed these alicorns to become the first unicorns, the first earth ponies and the first pegasai tribes, which then went out and prospered into the mighty and noble races we know today.
The very first of these pegasai was a mare named Firefly (Who turns out is the ancestor of General Firefly who founded the Wonderbolts) that became The Goddess's right hoof mare and commander of her military forces. Firefly was an extremely powerful pegasus, and was reowned for her amazing fighting skill with bladed weapons. It also helped that she was an Exploding Hoof master. (But we can talk more about her in another entry.)
The Goddess herself didn't leave the city or go out much, preferring to stay where she could watch over and protect the subjects she loved so dearly. Through her guidance, the empire grew and began using air ships, trains, aqueducts and more amazing inventions.
Alicorn Inventions
Upon the beginning of the Renaissance inspired by The Goddess, the empire became rich in all cultures from around the world. Not just ponies but others from far off lands, such as Griffinhaven to east, and Saddle Arabia to the north came to take their own part in this great age of inspiration. Naturally, many magical and scientific breakthroughs were a result, and quite a few inventions came to be.
