Chapter 2

The next day, Pinkie stops by a sickly Lily's with a batch full of cupcakes for a visit and to cheer the little filly up. "I'm going to die soon," says Lily to Pinkie weakly before eating a cupcake.

"Please don't say that, you're not going to die soon," replies Pinkie in tears. "Please don't say that."

"But it's true, Pinkie," replies Lily. "It's true."

"No, it can't be true," replies Pinkie now in full blown tears. "It just can't be true." Pinkie's head then falls flat into the platter of cupcakes in her hooves. Pinkie then begins to sing a sweet little lullaby to the filly. "Don't be scared. You'll be okay. Little one, you'll be okay. Don't be scared. I'll always be right here. I'll always be right here by your side. Don't be scared. I'll be here for you through thick and through thin. You'll be okay. You'll be okay. Oh, you'll be okay. Oh, I promise you this, with all my heart, you'll be okay."

"Pinkie, you'll be okay," sighs Lily. "You'll have to promise me that much because I'm going to die soon."

"Please don't say that," replies Pinkie in tears. "Please, please don't say that."

"Just promise me," replies Lily.

"Okay," sighs Pinkie Pie, "I promise."

"Thank you," replies Lily.

"You're welcome," replies Pinkie. "Just please don't die on me anytime soon."

"Oh Pinkie, you know I can't promise that. My cancer is bad and it just continues to get worse, I'm sorry," replies Lily. A few hours later, Pinkie leaves the Fields house and returns to Sugar Cube Corner. She can't believe she's going to lose one of the sweetest fillies she's ever met in her entire life. She really and truly can't.
