//------------------------------// // The Secrets Of Mane Magic // Story: The Book Of Friendship // by XombieSlayr //------------------------------// (Starlight and Trixie return from their trip to Fluttershy's cottage in search of Discord. Chocolate drips down from all over them, from their manes to their hooves. They both look quite annoyed and angry. Trixie takes off her hat only for a swarm of butterflies to fly out and soar through the nearby window. Her mane flops down on her head, stained from the chocolate. Trixie lets out a small whimper of horror) (Starlight is too frustrated to write anything and just uses Twilight's machine again. It hums loudly as she switches it on.) Starlight: *Angry sigh* This is Starlight's Journal, entry...whatever. Trixie: *Whimpers* Starlight: Trixie? Trixie: L-look...look at my mane, Starlight! It's ruined!! Starlight: It's not....ruined, it just needs, um...touched up! Trixie: Then touch it up! I can't do this with my mane looking like a dirty dishrag on my head! Starlight: Huh. Actually, I remember seeing something in the book that might help! (Starlight fetches The Book Of Friendship from its pedestal and flips through the pages, stopping at the beginning of a chapter that seemed to detail a variety of mane styles and spells used for fixing manes, created by Popularity) Starlight: Here! "The Secrets Of Mane Magic" written by Popularity, herself! Trixie: Does it say how to fix my mane? Starlight: Well, yes. But Mane Magic is always tricky, even for the most learned of unicorns. It didn't go so well when me and Twilight tried to fix Rarity's mane in time for her photo shoot. Trixie: But its the Secrets of Mane Magic! So it's stuff nopony else knows about it right? Starlight: Maybe, but still- Trixie: Just do it, Starlight! Anything would be better then this! Starlight: Okay, Okay! Let me see here.... (Starlight scans the pages of Popularity's chapter on Mane Magic. She sees several diagrams of different mane styles as well as "Disaster" scenarios, detailing the secret to fixing any ruined mane. A picture of a mare with a dirty, saggy mane indicated Starlight had found the spell she was looking for. It looked rather complicated, but she had confidence she could pull it off.) Starlight: Okay....ready? Trixie: Ready! (Starlight checks the diagram one more time before casting the spell. Magical energy envelopes her horn, and swirls around her. Electricity crackles from her horn as a massive magical blast explodes from it, and hits Trixie right in the face, toppling her over backwards.) (Starlight runs over to Trixie, worried. "Trixie! Are you alright?" she asks in a worried voice. Trixie stumbles forward and is clearly disoriented and dizzy. But her mane looks perfectly clean and groomed now.) (Despite the success of the spell, both Trixie and Starlight decide to ignore this chapter of the book, for safety reasons.)
