The First Stand
Chapter 2
'Should I stay or should I go?'

Chris froze in his spot for a moment, hesitating and thinking of what action he should take next.

'Maybe they're out for me, or they were passing by. I should probably stay away from them for now.'Chris thought, as he slowly slipped the box of Bang Snaps out of his pant pocket. He watched 4 of ponies with spears slowly advance towards their position, as he slowly opened the box and took out one bang snap. He then threw it with a lot of force at the forest floor at another tree, at where the crate was partially hidden.

A resounding BANG! echoed throughout the forest, making all the ponies jump and some of them cower/flinch. Chris started to throw more bang snaps with greater force at it made the armed ponies drop their spears and cover their ears. Three unicorns stopped their magical glow thing with their horns and the rest of the ponies covered their ears as well.

Chris then jumped off the tree and ran into the forest in a random direction, with one of the ponies seeing him and shouting "He's getting away!"

Chris dodged trees and rocks as he kept running. He spotted a gully and jumped into it, while quickly pulling his M4A1 Carbine out and peeking through the scope. He saw that some of the guards had spread out near the path to look for him, and one of the unicorns had their horn glowing as it walked around.

He sighed in relief, as he saw the ponies walk back to the path and started talking with each other, before running off deeper into the forest.

Chris stopped at a clearing in the middle of the forest, with the sun's ray shining onto the grassy patch he was standing on.

'Maybe I should've handed myself in, as they could've brought me to some sort of civilization and help to get me back home...' Chris thought, before seeing a glint of some shiny metal in the grass. He crouched over it, and slowly pulled the grass to reveal a tank shell that was buried in the dirt. Chris immediately fell backwards, unsure of the fact that it could still be live.

Chris got up, and then looked at the shell.

'Looks like some kind of HE shell to me.' He thought, before getting up and continued heading southeast.

Meanwhile in the middle of the Everfree Forest...
"What was that?" Fluttershy asked quietly, as Twilight looked around the area to which the creature had made loud bangs to cover it's escape.

"I don't know Fluttershy, but whatever it is, I am willing to bet that creature caused the magical disturbance." Twilight replied as she caught something sitting on the forest floor. It was a small piece of white paper...that had little light-brown beads in them.

"What are these?" Twilight asked, and one of the soldiers came over.

"I have never seen that before." The soldier replied, "Maybe that's related to the creature."

Twilight picked it up, and wrapped it up in paper before stuffing it into her saddlebags.

"We should probably track down that creature. Maybe it was the thing that created the strong magical disturbance, and it may be a threat to Equestria."Twilight said.

"I'll kick it's flank when I see it again!" Rainbow Dash boasted, with Twilight rolling her eyes.

"Be on the lookout everypony. This is one creature that could make the discovery of the century!" Twilight proudly said.

Chris stopped to take a break, laying down by a river that laid in his path. He sighed, as he splashed water from the river onto his face, before taking a cautious drink of the water.

"Hmmm...not bad." Chris said, before he got up and started walking down the river's edge to look for some way across. He came upon a purple shiny, scaly rock.

'What type of rock is purple, shiny, and scaly?' Chris said, before poking it. Nothing happened, and Chris shrugged, before getting up and continuing his trek down the river.

The rock, however, slipped under the water as the big head of a water serpent and its eyes peeked out of the water, staring at Chris, before it submerged itself under the water to disappear completely.

Chris continued on his merry way, before he came upon a big hill next to the river. He started to climb it, before he tripped on a solid, edged, corner. He faceplanted into the dirt, muffling a groan into the ground.

'What the hell was that?' Chris thought to himself, as he picked himself off the floor, 'This better not be another tank.'

He descended a little bit only to come in front of a old, rusty, mossy, steel door.

'I wonder what could be inside?' Chris though as he looked around for anything that could open the door for him. He found a door handle on the right side of the door, and pushed it down with some effort. The door opened to a pitch-black chamber.

Inside the chamber, Chris tried to look around for anything of value, but it was pitch-black. He took a step forward before slipping on a cylinder-feeling object, before falling to the floor.

"Gah!" Chris yelped, as a faint voice shouted "K.O!" in the background.

He went back into the light, and observed the cylinder-like object. It was completely orange, and had a pin attached to the top of it.

'Nice, a flare. That'll help me for a bit.' Chris though, before heading back into the pitch-black chamber with his newfound temporary source of light. He pulled the pin off, and a bright, hot, orange, light spewed out from the top of the canister, lighting up the chamber around him. As Chris looked around, he saw five crates, stacked on top of each other, and a old-style crowbar stashed to one corner of the small chamber, a table to the right of him, and a closed door in front of him. He walked up to the table to see a old-style, small, flashlight laying on the table. He picked the flashlight up with his other hand and pressed the power button one time. His first attempt at activating the flashlight had failed.

"Please work." Chris muttered as he started repeatedly pressing the button of the old flashlight while the flames of the flare started to dwindle. He kept pressing the button until it had turned on just as the flare's last flames died out.

Chris dropped the flare canister to the floor, as it landed with a loud THUNK! noise on the concrete floor. He pointed the flashlight's beam around, to more slowly and carefully inspect the chamber he was in.

'Seems like some sort of bunker to me.' Chris thought as he saw some rusty black bumps installed in the buried 'windows' of the bunker, which were supposedly machine gun turret mounts.

Chris then turned his attention to the crates lying in the corner. Putting and holding the old dirty flashlight in his mouth (Who cares about germs?), he picked up the old, rusty crowbar before setting up a live-feed camera before annoucing the start of his unboxing video he pried the first crate cover off. Tossing the crate cover aside, Chris took a peek inside, before gaping at what laid before him.

Inside were 6 MG42s and a whole lot of 7.92×57mm Mauser ammunition belts and bulky magazines, most likely dating back to World War 2.

'Jesus...that is a lot of Hitler-Brand Buzzsaws.' Chris thought to himself, before he dragged the crate to the back of the bunker and pulled another crate towards him.

"This is going to take a while." Chris said, before he continued unboxing the remaining 4 crates. After 15 minutes of crate cover prying and item examination, he concluded his unboxing spree with that he didn't get any Crimson Web Karambits, but only found instead 6 MP40s' with 24 9x19mm Parabellum Magazines, 4 One-Shot Panzerfausts (Recoilless, Cheap, and Effective.), 12 Lugers with smaller, 8-round 9x19mm Parabellum Magazines, and a whole sack-full of Stielhandgranates. Also, a random shovel was included in the World War 2-themed equipment.

'Isn't this a crazy find?' Chris thought to himself, as he held up one of the MP40's up, inspecting how freshly-made it was.

'Should've deteriorated in quality from that long period of time. World War 2 took place almost a century ago anyway.' Chris thought, before looking outside to see that the sun was setting.

'I have shelter in this bunker, MRE's, water from a nearby river, but might as well gather some leaves and moss for a better night's sleep than laying on the concrete floor.' Chris thought to himself, as he left the bunker.

Back at the Edge of the Everfree Forest...

Twilight Sparkle was frustrated, as after spending a entire afternoon searching for that creature that had ran away and disappear. They had found dead corpses of some Timberwolves further down the path in a opening next to the trail, and found footprints of the creature that lead to a dead Manticore that had a few holes in it's chest and one bloody one in its head. She was greatly disturbed by the dead animals, and had assumed that the creature had done it and was very deadly. She couldn't say the same for Fluttershy though, as her friend bursted into tears when they had came across the timberwolf corpses, and cried even more when they had come upon the Manticore corpse.

The group of ponies started heading back to town, with the soldiers getting picked up by pegasi-driven chariots and sent back to Canterlot. Fluttershy was still crying, and she left the group escorted with Rainbow Dash as support to her little hut. The rest of her friends slowly left the group to go to their respective homes until she was alone when she reached the crystal castle she called her own home. She pushed open the castle doors, and was greeted by Spike.

"Hello Twilight Sparkle! How did your expedition go in the Everfree Forest? Did you find anything interesting, like maybe some alien space ships, or aliens?" Spike greeted her.

"No Spike, as whatever caused that magical disturbance simply ran away from us and disappeared." Twilight responded, leaving out the corpse parts.

"Oh! Maybe it's some superpower-wielding alien, that turns all invisible-like and hunts you down in your sleep." Spike suggested.

"Oh Spike, you know that aliens haven't came here yet. Or if they exist, for any of that matter." Twilight responded with a fake chuckle, "Also, Spike, get me a scroll!"

"Roger!" Spike enthusiastically said with pride, before grabbing a feather pen and scroll from a nearby table. He held it, before replying,"Aren't you going to tell me what to write?"

"I'll do the writing this time Spike." Twilight said, taking the feather pen and scroll from his claws. She started to write:

Dear Princess Empress Celestia,

Not much happened on our expedition into the Everfree Forest. Although we had come upon some creature, it threw white paper with rocks in it that popped, distracting us so it could get away.

We didn't see the creature in person after that, but we had came upon the corpses of a Timberwolf pack and a Manticore, and the causes of death points to the creature.

I'm assuming that the creature is dangerous, and Fluttershy was heavily emotionally affected by the deaths of the Timberwolf pack and Manticore. But that is all we really have.

Sincerely,

Princess Twilight Sparkle.

Twilight rolled the scroll up and let Spike deliver the letter to Princess Celestia via Dragon Flame before heading off to bed.

Back in the Everfree Forest at the end of dusk...

Chris dropped a big pile of moss and leaves into one unoccupied corner of the bunker, before packing it tight so it wouldn't fall apart.

"Isn't this comfy." Chris sarcastically remarked before laying down to try and get some sleep.

As Chris was about to fall into a deep sleep, he was certain that he heard a muffled voice in the distance.
