The City of Canterlot was in dire state, due to the multitudes of growing crystals which were quickly spreading. Many of the inhabitants of the city had retreated to the roofs of buildings, the only place that appeared to be safe from what was happening.
Currently Tidal and the Duellists he'd gathered, were atop the Freeze Industries building with all its employees and were looking over the cities destruction. After speaking with Cold and the others, Shining and Cadance had called Tidal and explained what was going on. Not long after that, a nearby megascreen switched on and showed the Duel between Spike, Thorax and Chrysalis. However, the Duel did not distract them from the growing danger of the spreading crystals.
"This is horrible," Lyra said.
"By my estimates," Poindexter said, "the city will be at the point of no return in less then two hours."
"Can't we do something?" Bon Bon asked Tidal.
"Yeah," Gilda said, "I'm sick of just standing around and doing nothing." She pounded her fist into her palm, "I'm ready for action!"
"I'm afraid there is nothing we can do," Tidal said, "all we can do is hope that our amigos will be victorious."
"They can do it," Spoon said, "because their awesome."
"I hope you're right," Tidal said. In that second his phone buzzed and he took it out to see who it was, before putting it on speaker. "Senor Grand Hoof," he said.
"Tidal," Grand said, "how are things on your end?"
"Bad," Tidal said, "my team and I have been trapped on the Freeze Industries roof. There is nada we can do."
"Same here," Grand replied, "I stuck on the police roof." He looked around to see the rest of his department looking worried as they watched and crystals and or Duel. "My forces are scattered around the city," he said, "and they've all had to take cover from the onslaught of crystals."
"Is there nothing we can do?" Tidal asked.
"I doubt it," Grand said as he looked down at the crystals surrounding his building, "I'm no rock expert, but I doubt anything we have will be able to break through this stuff. For now we'll just have to hold out until we can come up with a better plan."
"Entendido," Tidal replied before hanging up.
Grand turned off his phone and looked over at a nearby megascreen, watching as the Duel continue.
"You can do it kid," he said, "show the world who the true king is."
The Duel of Thorax and Spike verses Chrysalis continued.
Chrysalis had just summoned her Insect Queen and even though it was the strongest monster on the field, Thorax's Insect Barrier prevented it or any of her insect monsters from attacking.
"I may not be able to get to your monsters right now," Chrysalis said, "but it's only a matter of time until I break through your shield."
"We'll see about that," Thorax said, "are you done?"
"Almost," Chrysalis replied, "first I need to switch my Mega Drone and Flying Kamakiri to DEF mode. And don't forget, for ever insect on the field my Queen's power increases by two hundred." (A2600/D2400/L7) "I end my turn."
"Then it's my turn," Spike said as he reached for his deck, "I draw and I summon Lava Fang Dragon in ATK mode." The Pterodactyl winged serpent with large fangs appeared. (A1400/D1300/L4) "Now I'll activate the effect of Thorax's Celtic Archer, which lets me sacrifice Lava Fang Dragon to deal you five hundred points of damage." The dragon transformed into a stream of light, which flew into the elf's arrow before he fired it and struck Chrysalis in the chest.

Chrysalis clutched her chest as she felt the pain of the arrow.
"Now I'll have Archer destroy Flying Kamakiri!" Spike went on as the monster shot another arrow and destroyed her monster.
"When Flying Kamakiri is destroyed," Chrysalis said, "I can summon a wind attributed monster from my deck with fifteen hundred or less ATK points." A tornado appeared and from it came a dragonfly monster, with metallic wings and was wearing a cone shaped helmet on its head. (A1000/D1000/L3) "Meet Torpedo Insect," Chrysalis said with a bright smile on her face.
Outside the tower we find Rarity and Pinkie standing at the base, watching the Duel on their Duel Disks.
"Is it just me," Pinkie said as she saw Chrysalis's smirk, "or does she look way to happy to have such a weak monster on her field?"
"Agreed," Rarity replied, "she must be up to something. The only question is what is it and will Spike and Thorax be able to stop it?"
"Rarity!"
The two girls turned around and saw Sweetie and the rest of their friends running up to them, having finally made it to the base with them.
"Sweetie!" Rarity said, "I thought you lot were going to look for cover?"
"I'm sorry Rarity," Fluttershy said, "I tried to convince them, but they were hell bent on coming to show their support."
"That's right," Scootaloo said, "that's my brother and friends in there. If there's something I can do then I'm gonna be here ready."
"Same here?" Applebloom said.
"We not little kids," Sweetie said, "we wanted to be here for them."
Rarity just smiled, before patting her sister on the head. "It's okay darling," she said, "I don't blame you. I'd probably do the same thing if I was in your position."
"We were in their position," Pinkie said, "that's why we're out here."
"Did you get separated from the group too?" Fluttershy asked them.
"Yes," Rarity said, "we were a second to slow and ended up on the wrong side of the crystal line. By the time we made it here the others had gone in."
"How did they get in?" Scootaloo said, "maybe we can to."
Pinkie just shook her head. "Sorry," she said, "but Flash used Vail Pixie to get in."
"Vail Pixie?" Applebloom asked.
"We didn't see it," Rarity said, "but we heard it. Flash managed to summon the real life Vail Pixie and use her powers to get inside."
"So that's it," Scootaloo said as she looked up at the tower, "so we're stuck out here."
"I know it's hard," Fluttershy said, "but we have to have faith that our friends can win."
"Yeah," Sweetie said, "they might not be able to hear us, but I know they'll feel us."
This got Scootaloo smiling. "You're right," she turned back to the tower, "you can do it guys!"
"I place one card face down," Spike said "and I'll end my turn."
"Then it's my turn," Chrysalis said as she reached for her deck, "I draw and since it's my standby phase, Torpedo Insects ability activates. An ability which lets it destroy itself!"
Thorax and Spike shared a confused glance.
"Why would you destroy your own monster?" Thorax asked.
"Because he's not the only one being destroyed," Chrysalis explained, "his ability lets him take out one card on your field when he does."
Both Spike and Thorax realised when this meant.
The dragonfly monster flew up high and then dive bombed towards Thorax's Insect Barrier, curling up its wings and using its helmet like a missile. It struck the card and caused a powerful explosion as they were both destroyed.
"With that out of the way," Chrysalis said, "my Insect Queen is free to attack. All I have to do is sacrifice an insect." Her monster grabbed the Mega Drone and began to eat it. Once it had finished it turned towards Celtic Archer, before unleashing a breath of toxic gas.
Spike ran over to a nearby platform and leapt onto it, before jumping off and grabbing an Action Card from the walls. He landed on another platform and slotted the card into his Duel Disk. "I activate the Action Spell Miracle, which will protect my monster and cuts the damage I would have taken in half.
A force field appeared around Celtic Archer, protecting it from the gas though he was feeling the fumes.

Spike also felt woozy, the effect of the attack also effecting him.
"You survived that round," Chrysalis said, "but we'll see how long you last. Now I'll once again carve the arc of victory and Pendulum Summon." The portal opened and a single light shot out and struck the ground, before taking the form of Mega Drone who appeared in DEF mode. (A1800/D1000/L4/P3) "That keeps Insect Queen at twenty four hundred points." (A2400/D2400/L7) "I end my turn."
"It's my turn," Thorax said as he reached for his deck, "I draw and I'll set the Pendulum Scale, with scale one Celtic Beithir and scale eight Celtic Ùruisg." The columns of light appeared on either side of him as the monsters appeared inside them. "Now I'll summon Celtic Guardian to the field in ATK mode," The green elf warrior appeared. (A1400/D1200/L4) "Now during the battle phase, Ùruisg's ability will increase every Celtic Monsters ATK points by three hundred. (A2400/D1800/L6), (A1700/D1200/L4)
"Archers equal with Insect Queen," Spike said.
"Not for long," Thorax said, "Celtic Guardian take out Mega Drone!" The swordsman charged at the bug armoured monster and sliced it in half. With it destroyed, Insect Queen's power decreased. (A2200/D2400/L7) "Now Archer, destroy her Insect Queen!" His monster readied his bow and fired off an arrow, which flew at Chrysalis's monster.
The woman leapt up onto a platform and then jumped up to where an Action Card was waiting, which she grabbed before landing on the platform. "I activate Evasion, which let's my monster dodge your attack." Insect Queen ducked her head, allowing the arrow to go sailing over her.
Thorax growled at this. Since Celtic Archers ability could only be used during the first main phase, he couldn't deal her any damage. "I end my turn," he said.
"Then it's my turn," she said, "I draw and I'll play Pot of Greed." She drew two cards and nodded at what she'd got. "And once again I'll use my Pendulum Monsters, to carve the arc of victory." The portal formed above her head. "I PENDULUM SUMMON!"
The portal opened and two lights shot out and struck the ground, before taking shape.
"Mega Drone!" (A1800/D1000/L4/P3)
"Sting Winger!" (A1400/D1300/L4/P6)
"Oh boy," Thorax said.
"With these two monsters on the field, Insect Queen's power once again raises." (A2600/D2400/L7) "Now I'll sacrifice Sting Winger to attack!" The giant bug grabbed the smaller one and devoured it, before turning to Celtic Archer and unleashing its acidic gas. Since it was the battle phase, Ùruisg's kicked in and raised the monsters ATK points but not enough. (A2400/D1800/L6), (A1900/D1200/L4)
It struck Celtic Archer and caused him to begin melting, while Thorax screamed in agony as his own skin felt like it was blistering.

"Now Silk Spitter's ability will switch Celtic Guardian to DEF mode, allowing Mega Drone to attack!" The worm in her Pendulum Zone spat out its string and pulled the elf to its knees, before the Pendulum Monster decked him into destruction."
"You okay?" Spike asked Thorax, who was still smoking after Insect Queen's attack."
"Yeah," Thorax said as he picked himself up, "I'm fine."
"Not for long," Chrysalis said, "I end my turn." With Sting Winger gone, Insect Queen's power decreased. (A2400/D2400/L7)
"Then it's my turn," Spike said, "I draw." He looked at his card and smiled, having everything he needed to turn the tides. "I'll set the Pendulum Scale, with scale one Flame Viper Dragon and scale seven Flame Banner Dracokid." The columns of light appeared on either side of him, as the two dragonic monsters flew up into them. "Cut through space time and carve the arc of victory," Spike said as the portal formed, "I PENDULUM SUMMON!"
The portal opened and a pair of lights shot out, striking the ground and taking form.
"Horus the Black Flame Dragon, Level six!" (A2300/D1600/L6)
The second was a red dragon creature. "Magna Drago!" (A1400/D600/L2)
"A Tuner Monster," Chrysalis said in shock.
"That's right," Spike said, "and now I'll tune Level two Magna Drago, with Level six Horus the Black Flame Dragon." The small dragon flew into the air and transformed into two balls of fire, which carved a pair of burning rings which the two dragons flew into. "Cast your flames across this battle field, and burn everything that is weak to ashes" Spike said as his monsters burst in an explosion of fire. "I SYNCHRO SUMMON!"
The flames erupted, as Spike's ace burst free and revealed itself. "Dragonic Blazemaster!" (A3000/D2000/L8)
"Incredible," Chrysalis said, "but it won't be enough."
"We'll see about that," Spike said, "because I'm activating my face down." The card flipped up to reveal a very familiar Trap. "Assault Mode Activate!"
Chrysalis's eyes went wide, before turning to see Dragonic Blazemaster get engulfed by a pillar of fire which slowly grew larger and larger. "Harbinger of destruction, spread your raging flames across this battle field and rise from the ashes in your ultimate form!" The pillar of fire exploded, revealing Spike's new monster. "Dragonic Blazemaster, ASSAULT MODE!" (A3500/D2500/L10)
"Whoa!" The younger girls all said as they saw Spike's monster.
"That's just what they need," Rarity said, "go get them Spikey Wikey!"
"That's gonna be a tone of damage," Sweetie cheered.
"Yay." Fluttershy said.
"Thanks to Flame Banner Dracokid's Pendulum Ability," Spike went on, "all fire monsters gain five hundred ATK points!" (A4000/D2500/L10) "Now attack Mega Drone!" He ordered as his dragon raised its twin blades and charged forward.
"I activate my Trap," Chrysalis said as he face down flipped up, "Swarm Defence! This card activates when you attack an insect, while I have another one which is stronger. It changes the target of your attack to my Queen." As Assault Mode drew closer to Mega Drone, Insect Queen leapt in the way and was struck by the two swords, getting sliced into four pieces.

Chrysalis staggered back as she felt the pain of the attack, though she would have been in even more pain had Mega Drone been hit.
"Assault Mode's ability activates when he destroys a monster," Spike explained, "and lets me destroy any other monster on your field and deal you three hundred points of damage times its Level." The dragon aimed its twin pistols at Mega Drone and fired them, unleashing a barrage of flaming projectiles which flew towards Chrysalis's monster and destroyed it.

Chrysalis once again felt the pain, but even so she still stood.
"I end my turn," Spike said.
"Then it's my turn," Chrysalis said, "I draw. She looked at the card and smiled, as her eyes glowed bright red. "Time to put an end to this," she said, "I PENDULUM SUMMON!"
The portal opened and unleashed three streams of light, which struck the ground and took form.
"Mega Drone!" (A1800/D1000/L4/P3)
"String Winger!" (A1400/D1300/L4/P6)
"Changeling Queen!" (A2000/D2000/L8/P5)
Spike and Thorax both went wide eyed seeing that monster, knowing what it could do.
"Now I activate Changeling Queen's ability," Chrysalis ordered as her monster was engulfed in a flaming cocoon, "to transform it into any monster on the field or in the graveyard until my next turn." The cocoon disappeared and revealed Changeling Queen, only now it looked like Dragonic Blazemaster Assault Mode, though it was black in place of red. "Not only that, but Changeling Queen also gains your monsters name, ATK, DEF and ability." (A5500/D4500/L8/P5)
The two teenage boys looked up at Spike's monster's dark counterpart, as it raised its twin blades and lazor pistols. They knew they were in serious trouble.
"Now," Chrysalis ordered, "attack!" The fake dragon raised its twin blades and swung them at Assault Mode, who raised his own swords up in defence. Changeling Queen then raised its pistols and aimed them at Assault Mode's chest, before pulling the triggers and blasting Spike's monster.
Spike also clutched his chest, as the pain of being shot through the chest flowed through his body.

"And that's not all," Chrysalis said, "I still have two monsters ready to finish you off. ATTACK!" Sting Winger and Mega Drone both charged at Spike, ready to strike.
Thorax looked around, trying to find anything that could help Spike. Then he saw it. Stepping back he ran up and jumped, landing onto a platform and then leaping up again until he reached what he had seen.
As the two monster drew closer to Spike, there was a sudden flash of light and when it faded something stood between the two forces.
"What?" Chrysalis asked in shock as she saw it. Changeling Drone was flying between Spike and her monsters, protecting the teen. (A1000/D1000/L6/P3) "How?"
"I got the Action Spell Guardian's Call," Thorax explained, "it let me look at the top five cards of my deck and summon any monster to the field."
"I'm amazed you still have that card in your deck," Chrysalis said.
"I wasn't thrilled about having it at first," he said, "but I accepted it was apart of me. With it I'm gonna put an end to your evil, especially since Guardian's Call makes my monster indestructible for this turn."
"Good," Chrysalis said, "meaning I get to attack it again and again. GO!" The two monster charged at Changeling Drone. First Mega Drone punched it, causing both it and Thorax to be winded.

Then Sting Winger stabbed it, making Thorax clutch his shoulder in pain.

"It amazes me how silly you can be," Chrysalis said, "you used that Action Card, knowing summoning Changeling Drone would mean you got hurt, just to save some peasants from being hurt."
Despite the pain he was feeling, Thorax smiled. "Every time."
Spike smirked and Chrysalis frowned.
"Very well," she said, "I end my turn."
"Then it's my turn," Thorax said, "I draw." He looked at his card and nodded, before turning to Chrysalis and viewing her field.
"I activate Changeling Drone's ability," he said as his monster was engulfed in a flaming cocoon, "you all know how this works." The cocoon disappeared and revealed Changeling Drone, now in the form of Dragonic Blazemaster Assault Mode, though it was black in place of red. (A4500/D3500/L6/P3) "I can't damage your Changeling Queen, but I can take out your other monsters." The fake dragon flew at Sting Winger, while Chrysalis leapt from platform to platform before snagging an Action Card.
"I activate Miracle," she said as a force field appeared around her monster, protecting it from the attack.

"I end my turn with a face down."
"My turn," Chrysalis said, "I draw." Changeling Queen returned to normal. "Once again I activate my Queen's ability, to transform her into Dragonic Blazemaster Assault Mode!" Once again the insect monster was consumed by green fire, before emerging as Spike's monster. "Now attack Changeling Drone."
"I activate my Trap," Thorax spoke as his flipped up, "Mega Defender! It negates my monsters destruction, though I'll still take the damage." The swords struck his monster, causing him to flinch in pain.

"Well I have my Spell," Chrysalis said as she slotted it into her Duel Disk, "Royal Exaction. This card's effect activates while I have a monster with King or Queen in its card name on my field. It destroys every other monster on the field." Suddenly Changeling Drone, Sting Winger and Mega Drone all exploded, leaving Changeling Queen as the only monster on the field. "I end my turn."
"She destroyed her own monsters," Sweetie said.
"Maybe," Rarity said, "but now Spike and Thorax can't destroy them and deal her damage. Plus she can Pendulum Summon them next turn."
"It's my turn," Spike said, "I draw." He looked at the card he'd got and frowned, before looking around and seeing an Action Card. Leaping around the platforms, he reached for it and pulled it from the crystal it rested on. "I activate the Action Spell Magic Draw," he said, "which lets me draw a card and if its a Spell then I get to us it." He reached for his deck and drew a card. "Perfect," he said, "I play the Spell card Monster Reborn, to revive my Assault Mode in DEF mode." The dragon appeared on the field. "I end my turn with a face down."
"It's my turn," Chrysalis said as her monster reverted back, "I draw and once again I'll Pendulum Summon!"
"I don't think so," Spike said, "because I'm activating my Trap card," his face down flipped up, "Dragon Blaster! By tributing a Dragon Monster, I can destroy every Spell and Trap on your field!"
"What!" Chrysalis asked.
"Spike what are you doing?" Thorax asked him.
"Giving you a fighting chance," Spike said, "I sacrifice Dragonic Blazemaster!" His dragon exploded into flames, which flew at Chrysalis's field and fried her two Pendulum Monster.
"You little brat," Chrysalis growled, "you'll pay for that. Changeling Queen, transform and destroy him!" The insect monster flew at Spike, while transforming into his dragon before aiming its blasters at him.
"Spike!" Thorax said.
Spike smirked as he turned to Thorax. "You got this," he said, "and do me a favour. When you beat her and become king, maybe consider a knighthood for me."
With that, the fake dragon fired and Spike was bombarded by a barrage of fire shots. He screamed in pain as he was continuously struck.

As the barrage ended, Thorax saw Spike, his cloths tattered, barely standing.
"Spike?" Thorax asked.
"You got this," was all Spike said before falling to the ground. Before Thorax could do anything, Spike began to glow before he disappeared.
"SPIKE!" Thorax screamed.
Outside, everyone was in shook at the what they'd just seen.
Suddenly a part of the Crystal Tower glowed and when it faded, they saw Spike fly out of it before he began to fall to the ground.
"SPIKE!" They cried as they rushed over to where he was gonna land and caught him.
"Is he okay?" Applebloom asked as Rarity and Fluttershy looked him over.
"I think so," Rarity said as she held him.
Thorax fell to his knees in horror of seeing Spike disappear, until he heard Chrysalis laughing.
"How hilarious," she said, "he thought his sacrifice would help you. All he did was make it easier to defeat him."
"Shut up," Thorax whispered.
"What was that?"
"I said SHUT UP!" He turned to her before getting up, "I won't let you get away with that."
"And what are you going to do?" Chrysalis asked.
"I'm going to defeat you," he replied, "I swear it!"
"Oh really," Chrysalis said, "I'd love to see that. I end my turn."
"It's my turn," Thorax said, "I draw!" He knew this might be his last chance to defeat her, he needed a way. "I can't give up," he said, "everyone's counting on me. Flash, Cold, Grand...Spike. I won't let them down!"
Chrysalis smirked at this, until she noticed that Thorax was glowing. "What?"
"I PENDULUM SUMMON!" The portal above Thorax's head opened, allowing a stream of light to shoot out. It struck the ground and took the form of Changeling Drone. "We have to win," he said, "are you with me?" Changeling Drone didn't reply, instead it began to glow the same light from around Thorax.
"What is happening?" Chrysalis asked.
Changeling Drone flew down and wrapped its legs around Thorax, before the two were consumed by a cocoon of light. Suddenly it cracked and a new monster shot out of it. It looked like the cross between an insect and a stag. It was light green, with dark green armour and purple on its back. It had dark blue wings and a pair of orange antlers. (A2500/D2000/L7/P4)
"Impossible," Chrysalis said, "the monster changed!"
"He's not the only one."
Chrysalis looked at where Thorax was standing and her eyes went wide.
His skin was now the same light green as his monster, with orange hair and was wearing a dark green overcoat. His duel disk was now dark green with a purple blade.
"How is this possible?" Chrysalis asked.
"I don't know," Thorax said as he looked himself over. "Maybe this is our true form, created by the love of our friends. The power hidden within me has awakened and allowed Changeling Drone to take on his true form. Changeling King!"
Chrysalis just snarled at that. "True form or not, your monster still isn't strong enough to defeat mine."
"Don't be so sure," Thorax said, "because Changeling King has an ability which makes him count as a Celtic Monster. Because of that, he get three hundred points thanks to my Pendulum. (A2800/D2000/L7/P4) Next, I'm activating my King's second ability. I select one monster on the field or graveyard and he takes that form."
"No matter which monster you select it will not be enough," Chrysalis said.
"Don't be so sure," Thorax said, "because the monster I select...is Changeling Queen!"
"What!" Chrysalis asked as she watched his monster transformed, becoming a green version of her monster. (A4800/D4000/L7/P4) "It's still not enough!"
"Maybe," Thorax said, "but don't forget that my king also gained your monsters ability, meaning he can transform one more time."
Chrysalis's eyes went wide. "No."
"Oh yes," Thorax said, "and even though Spike was defeated, his Graveyard's still in play." Changeling King once again transformed, becoming a green version of Dragonic Blazemaster Assault Mode. (A8200/D6500/L7/P4)
"No," Chrysalis repeated.
"It's over mother," Thorax said, "Changeling King, ATTACK!" The fake dragon flew at the other one, raising its swords before swinging them at Chrysalis's monster. He struck the fake dragon, causing it to transform back into its true form before being cut into four and exploding.
Chrysalis screamed as the feeling of being sliced to pieces coursed through her body, before she collapsed.

As the monsters disappeared, Thorax looked over at where Chrysalis was laid.
Quickly shuffling over to her, he saw her eyes were closed but she was still breathing. Suddenly she began to glow before she disappeared, ejected from the Crystal Tower. With her gone Thorax fell to his knees, exhausted from the Duel.
"I did it," he said with a smile, "I won." Suddenly a rumbling sound caught his attention, causing him to look over and see an opening appear. It was a staircase, most likely leading up to another tower, but before he could take it something else caught his attention. A portal, similar to Vail Pixie's, appeared. It showed the outside, making Thorax realise he could leave through it.
"Spike," he said as he picked himself up, "I have to make sure he's okay." He turned back to the staircase. "Sorry guys, I'm leaving you to deal with the rest." With that he stepped through the portal and vanished.
Up at the top of the tower, Sombra growled as the image of Chrysalis's tower disappeared.
"How dare you fail me," he said before taking a deep breath, "no matter. My three remaining shields will not fail me."
Suddenly the sound of footsteps caught his attention, making him look over at the stairs leading to his chamber. Seconds passed and the steps got louder, until the one making them finally arrived in the room.
Sombra smirked seeing him. "Hello brother."
Cold Steel frowned as he looked at his brother. "You know why I'm here," he said as he took out his Duel Disk and attached it to his arm.
"I do," Sombra said as he stood up from his throne, "you're here because you think you can stop me."
