Spike Pie

Home for the Holidays pt.1

Spike was cleaning up his chess game while Gummy sat on his bed wearing a crown. Pinkie was just about to close the window when she saw the mailmare and jumped out of the way just in time to not be hit. Spike, however, was run over.

"Ow," Spike said as Derpy got off him and turned to Pinkie.

"Letter for you," she said giving Pinkie said letter and leaving through the window. Pinkie opened the letter and read it aloud to Spike.

Dear Brother and Sister,

Will you be coming for Heart's Warming?

    Love,
Maud

    P.S - Boulder says Hi.

"Oh," Pinkie said as she helped Spike up. "You want to go, Spike?"

"Well, I dunno I have this thing and of course, I wanna go!" Spike said, holding up his somehow already packed suitcase. "Ready when you are!" he said as he put Wallace and Gummy in their pet cages. Pinkie started to write letters to tell the Cakes where they were going and told them to tell the other elements where she and Spike were if they needed them. Once she finished she zoomed down the hall and placed the note on the Cake’s door. Then she ran back into her and Spike’s room to find it completely empty apart from Spike holding two pet cages and one suitcase that was locked with a lot of chains and looked like it was about to explode.

"I'm ready," Pinkie said as she helped Spike with the impossibly packed bag and made it disappear somehow, then with a quick spin, she and Spike were wearing their winter apparel. She had little boots on her hooves a scarf and a huge jacket that hid most of her body. Spike was wearing two pairs of boots, two pairs of gloves, three pairs of pants, and four jackets. How he moved his arms was anyponies guess. They ran down the stairs and, after making sure Gummy was wrapped up in blankets, ran out into the cold and made their way down to the train station.

After getting on the train, they sat down only to hear two familiar voices.

"Ah think they're all taken," Applejack said. Pinkie popped her head out of the compartment and asked "Applejack?" Applejack and Applebloom turned and jumped at the sight of her.

"Pinkie? What are you doing here?" Applejack asked as she and Applebloom joined her in her now empty compartment.

"I was here with Spike, but he's disappeared." Pinkie was silent for a minute then said, "Spike, are you in her hat again?”
"It's warm in here," they heard him say from inside Applejack's hat.

"Spike....get out of my hat," Applejack said as she took it off and set it on one of the seats. After a second, Spike appeared wearing her hat and holding Gummy.

"We're cold," Spike said bluntly as he gave Applejack her hat back and wrapped Gummy in a bunch of blankets.

"We’re going to go visit our family for the holidays," Pinkie said as she took her seat.

"We’re doing the same thing," Applebloom said, now sitting next to Spike and joining him in building a blanket fort.

"We're going to visit our Aunt and Uncle Orange.” Applejack said as she and Pinkie accepted a cup of cocoa from Spike. Applejack took a sip, then froze. "Wait where did this cocoa come from?" She looked over and found Spike and Applebloom also drinking cocoa with a cup on top of Wallace and Gummy sitting next to one. "Never mind," she said flatly and drank her cup. As the train moved on Applebloom and Spike began their own chat while in the blanket fort.

"It's nice in here," she said as she looked at Gummy, "Where did Pinkie get Gummy? I've never thought to ask."

"Oh well, she ordered some cooking supplies via mail order, and the packages got mixed up, so I guess someone ordered a baby alligator and got some cooking stuff instead. And Pinkie ordered some cooking stuff, and got a new friend instead."

"Hmm...Neat." Applebloom decided as she and Spike drank some more cocoa. After a while, it was time for Pinkie and Spike to get off.

"See you guys after the holidays," Pinkie said with a wave as the train left.

"They’re weird," Applebloom said.

"Yeah, but they're a good kind of weird."
