The Doctor and Whooves

Episode 1 - The Oncoming Storm Part 8

The Doctor lay next to the TARDIS wheezing from his collision with it a few seconds prior. No trace of the smoke creatures remained and for the first time the Doctor felt he could get a clear look at the ship. I wasn’t anything special, blackened iron made up every surface with only two windows opposite each other to decorate the room. It had seemed so large before but now it couldn’t be more than 20 meters long and half as short. Finally feeling like he could breath again the Doctor rose to his feet and grabbed his fallen key from the ground. Placing it within his jacket he took hold of his trusty screwdriver and headed for the nearest door.

Doctor Whooves body was cramping up. The featureless room felt like it was closing in around him. Letting out short breaths of panic he braced himself and kicked out with his back legs. Clanging uselessly against the metal wall pain spread throughout his legs as vibrations coursed through them. Undeterred he braced for another strike as a white line appeared down the middle of the wall. Sliding away the doors revealed a man who looked like he had gone through hell who then received two hooves to his chest. Spluttering the Doctor fell too the ground while hearing the cracking of ribs.
“Oh crap, I’m so sorry I didn’t see you,” he explained as he turned around.
“Not one of the best thank yous for saving me I’ve had,” the Doctor coughed, “but I’ve had worse.”

Whooves hastily gathered his humanoid counterpart up.
“Just lean on me. You’ll be fine when you get back down to Gallopfrey,” the two Doctors slowly began to make their way back to the TARDIS. “So what happened to those things that were attacking?”
“They’re gone. Sucked out of the universe and into the void.” Curiosity still hid behind Whooves eyes.
“But what were they?”
“Beings of psychic energy, only had meet them once. They were normally only strong enough to take control of a person if hundreds worked together but these ones had received a power boost.” With that said they arrived at the TARDIS. Motioning for Whooves to go towards it they limped over.

“No doubt the fleet is coming and will sense you’re the only thing on here,” the Doctor said. Confusion sprouted at the this. “They’ll take care of you.” Understanding dawned on Whooves.
“You’re leaving? But you have done so much, surely you can stay for us to show our gratitude.”
The Doctor inserted his key into the TARDIS before turning back to look at Whooves,
“I’m not really big on the whole ceremony thing so I might head off.” Twisting the key the door swung open and soft red light bathed the Doctor. “There’s a whole new universe out there and I have no plans on how to get back too my own,” the Doctor smiled at the prospect, “will be nice not knowing anything for a change.” Stepping in, the TARDIS door shut closed behind him leaving Whooves alone and disappointed. Bowing his head he look away to see several war ships closing in on the ship.
“I guess this is goodbye.”

Whooves’ attention was drawn by the sound on an opening door.
“Of Course you’re always welcome too come with me if you want,” the Doctor said with open arms. Whooves felt overjoyed at the prospect of fulfilling his dreams that had been snatched away so many years ago. Wordless he looked down at his home taking one last look before galloping full speed into the Doctor’s TARDIS. As the Gallopfreyan ships docked with the ship the TARDIS dematerialized into nothingness as it went to see a new universe.
