//------------------------------// // Chosen Finale // Story: Equestrian Fanfiction // by Lise //------------------------------// Since LyraHands is being a tyrant, a quick recap of what happened during the read. First of all the dream reading was magnificent. At one point I thought Simile would faint, but she pulled it off breathtakingly, honestly, evenrypony stopped whatever they were doing to look at the spectacle. The voices were also extraordinary, and HopHop has totally missed her vocation. Also, halfway in the griffin squad arrived. A bit sad they missed the first half :( They were very quiet about it. Also, ManyFaces showed up! She’s so funny. And since both LyraHands and RRBB are giving me the eye, I’ll shut up and let PrinceEric post. PaintDrop What PaintDrop didn’t mention that there was a bit of commotion with my puppy. Brush was taking care of it during the flight all over Equestria, so it was fine. However, for some reason it got all sniffly during the dreamreading and went to see me. Sorry for the commotion that caused. Now onto the chapter :) Chapter 10 starts with a bang. We have Yuri pull Bellucio somewhere in private and share a theory that this domain is a prison (not for them, but for Poseidon). That’s why six were needed. As for Kalypso, she is the warden. Bellucio brushes it off as crazy talk, but Yuri takes him to a secret chamber with lots of crystals and a some strange spheres on the floor: three circles with three spots each. Walking on a spot makes the spot glow. Yuri goes on the theory that everyone was mistaken about the number: it’s in fact 9 and not 6. He also mentions that as long as there are only eight beings everything is okay, but they must act before the ninth appears. Meanwhile, Icelos, Molly, and Kalypso are having a conversation. Kalypso warns Molly that Icelos is not to be trusted and that he’s had many human and other apprentices and lovers, all of which had ended up hurt. Icelos corrects that he’s never had lovers, but “beings in love with him”. After a while Molly goes to “do better things” and leaves them alone. Icelos asks if she’s going to use the device, to which she says “time will tell”. Molly sneaks on one of the Chosen (Scars) playing with a mosaic. Once gone, she seems that it’s something like a map showing ten circles. She identifies her circle as the white one (because of the room) while the others remain a mystery. Six of the circles are blue, two are bright orange (she assumes those are Kalypso and Icelos) and the last one is green. Molly takes a picture of the map (I love how smart she is :)) and leaves. Meanwhile we have one of the Chosen trying to open one of the secret rooms and releases a snake-dog (it’s a dog that is made of water and its fur can transform into small snakes). Apparently the creature is a guardian of sorts and starts chasing everyone. Long story short they manage to defeat it on the fourth try :) Bellucio and Molly sneak into the room and find a display case with nine slots. Because of the shape of the slots they recognize that being for the evergems. Bellucio makes a comment about seeing something similar in another room that morning. Molly gets all worried saying she had figured something out. She makes Bellucio wait for her in his room, while going to find Icelos. Instead she goes to the mosaic map, where she sees that Bellucio is the green circle. Upon seeing that she starts crying with a “why did you have to be the traitor?” Pretty great! Can’t wait for the next one! :D PrinceEric Before I lock the thread, I’d like to say that we are out of drinks, so if somepony wants to join me to Sugarcube Corner, come along. We’ll start the next reading in 20 minutes (as DarkSparkle has just informed me). See you then! :) LyraHands The thread has been unlocked. I’m fanning out right now! This is so great! I don’t know who came up with Chosen, but it’s the greatest fic there is! If you don’t believe me reread it! Stars, I feel so great right now! After so much time with my parents I can finally breathe! But enough about me. I’ve restricted the thread so that only mods, PaintDrop, and PrinceEric can post. Please bear with me until the reading is over. O:) LyraHands DarkSparkle is best princess! It’s so inspiring and amusing watching her fly all over the place giving instructions. Also, Max and RRBB are the best frenemy pair in Equestria. I won’t be surprised if by the end of the evening RRBB makes her a business offer. In other news, Simile fainted after the second reading. She’s fine, though. We had a doctor check her, and it’s just exhaustion. Princess Luna will do the dreams in the third reading. The Griffins and the Wonderbolts were being idiots, which was fun to watch. I spent the reading with brush, my brother, his gf, Short&Hoofy, and Jade. It was crazy fun. Twist was with the CMC and DaBoss, also I finally found out who BlueEyes is :) (strangely enough, it seems all Nightlings are connected somehow) Best thing: we got a huge bunch of non-Nightlings to join and watch the reading. Some of them might even become fans. Here’s to hoping. Now onto Eric! PaintDrop Hey, hey! A bit weird seeing how no one can comment, but maybe LyraHands will let us after the reading? :) The second chapter sure got things moving in a weird direction. If anything, I’d call it the teasiest chapter yet! Being the middle chapter of the final book, though, it pulls it off really well. We start with Molly crying in her room. She goes through a few flashbacks of MC (Mistmount Chronicles are referenced a lot! Just a quick note; this is not a direct copy. The dialogue is the same, but every flashback is rewritten from a new perspective! I checked. I cannot express how cool this is!) Done, she leaves her room. Meanwhile, Yuri has managed to lure two other Chosen in the room with the circles. They attempt to use it, but something wrong happens, and they get a massive headache. However, for a moment they also see Poseidon (or a vision of him) saying that if they succeed “reality itself will be different”. We then go back to Bellucio, who has brought the box to Kalypso and demands answers. She is vague and promises to provide him with such once he has helped her. Bellucio gives his word, but before she could say anything, Sears bursts in the room and attacks them. There’s a long and intricate combat scene, at the end of which Scars is defeated, but not before Bellucio notices he’s using divine spells. He presses on with his questions until Kalypso admits that Poseidon made the evergems. Meanwhile Molly finally shares her fears with Icelos, asking if there’s a way to defeat Bellucio without harming him. Icelos says there is. Onto the last one, I guess? :) Can’t wait! PrinceEric Just in case somepony’s tempted, you know the drill. Also, human gloves are the best! :) LyraHands That was... I want to cry... happy crying! :) The ending was so good... I just... Removing all restrictions. Post at will. LyraHands Well, nothing exciting happened. Other than Pixel falling asleep on Short&Hoofy’s head and starting to snore cutely at one point. :) Too cute!!! The dreamreading was out of the world. The Princess went overboard with the details and effects, surrounding the entire meadow with dream illusions. Combine that with the craziness of the finale and you can imagine what I mean. The only pity is that neither Grumpy nor TheRealLuna made it. TrueSparkle and Brush were a bit disappointed... Still, there’s always next time :) Here’s to hoping that they pop up. Now to Eric again! PaintDrop One word: wow! :) We start with Bellucio being kidnapped by none other than Molly. Wanting to find out why he’d betray everyone, she uses her OP dream powers and captures him, then confronts him when he’s tied up. There are a few interesting discussions, the most interesting of which is that Bellucio confesses that he’s working with Kalypso, but it’s not what Molly thinks. And then suddenly all Tartarus breaks loose. Yuri appears and attacks Molly, who is saved by Kalypso who also popped up there. We have everyone fighting everyone with Bellucio managing to convince Molly they need to knock out all of the Chosen. At first she is hesitant, but then he confesses to being the traitor and tells her she’s the extra. Skipping the combat scenes, Bellucio, Molly, and Kalypso take the Chosen to the room of circles. (Where it was discover that if a specific chosen steps on a specific place, a blue glow for,s round the circle. Getting the six Chosen in two of the circles, Kalypso activates a device and the circles merge forming two new people instead of the six Chosen. Kalypso then reveals that during Poseidon’s mistake, the deity got chattered twice (first into three and each of the parts into three). The Poseidon in MC is actually 1/3 Poseidon, that’s why we never actually see him. It was Kalypso who set transformed her grandfather’s retreat into a trap to lure the pieces there so she could reassemble him. Bellucio casts a sleep spell on Molly, then demands to know what is going on (since he kept his part of the bargain). Kalypso says he still has to find and return the final piece of Poseidon so they could reassemble him completely, however, she shares that the evergems were Poseidon’s mistake and also brought the Everhere into existence. In its current state, the Everhere represents the merging point of multiple realities “that could be” thus everyone is fighting for control over it to ensure that their reality becomes the standard. Bellucio promises to restore Poseidon, and get his friends to help, but Kalypso whispers that she can’t allow that to happen and steals his memories of the event (the explanation, that is). Icelos asks her if she thinks that is wise, to which she responds that she’ll return the memory once he has the final Poseidon fragment and not sooner. Finally, Bellucio, Molly, and Icelos return to Earth, believing they have discovered the mystery of Poseidon (they still remember him being shattered into nine). However, they decide not to tell this to the others, and instead secretly try and find him on their own. Well, that’s it. I loved it! Did you? Do you think it could have been longer? Your thoughts? PrinceEric I personally am charmed by the idea. While reading the first parts, there were some things I considered plot holes, but now that I know the whole thing, those can easily be explained away. The only thing that has me slightly annoyed is the semi cliffhanger ending. I am aware that’s more a problem with the industry (all series tend to do this), but I thought I’d mention it. All in all, magnificently executed, and every book dramatically changes our perception. Let me tell you that’s no accident. The writers knew perfectly well what they were doing. Jade The problem with so many Nightlings being at a reading is that most discussions are taking place in real life and nopony wants to comment here. My 2 bits: I hope there is a Chosen 2 in the works, even if I have no idea what it would involve. Possibly finding the third piece (which, let us not forget is still missing on Earth, so there might be a secondary mystery there as well). Also, the Everhere origin explains why everyone is fighting for it. Now to see what the total will do in that series. LightSparkle Is it just me, or did Discord appear for a moment? I thought I saw him near the dream stage. YouKnowWho Guess it’s just me. YouKnowWho
