//------------------------------// // Night One - Thunderstorm // Story: Sonata's Sleep Issues // by Zenyattaluver677 //------------------------------// It was around 12:00 at night, the household that belonged to the Dazzling's, and former sirens, was quiet, except for the whimpers of fear that came from the youngest Dazzling, Sonata Dusk's room whenever a clap of thunder or flash of lightning went off above the house. She was really scared and knew she wouldn't be able to go to sleep on her own, she knew she was going to have to ask one of her older sisters for help, but, she already knew who she would ask. She wasn't even going to bother asking her oldest sister Adagio Dazzle, who had decided to stop caring about Sonata's actions or feelings around three months earlier. Sonata was going to ask her older and very protective sister Aria Blaze, who had grown close to her over the past few months. She knew her sister would be asleep, but she had gotten used to having to wake Aria up, she'd done it a couple times before, once due to a storm and the other due to not being able to sleep because of something Adagio had watched on TV. She quietly and quickly got out of her bed, exited her bedroom and walked down the hall towards her older sister's rooms, she stopped outside Aria's bedroom door, which was open slightly, and looked across the hall at Adagio's closed bedroom door. She knew Adagio usually locked her door at night now, because she'd quickly grown tired of Sonata coming to ask her if she could sleep with her. Sonata took a deep breath, jumped slightly when a clap of thunder went off above the house and then quietly opened Aria's bedroom door wide enough so she could fit through, careful as to not make the door creak open. Once she was in her sister's room, she closed the door and walked over to the bed quietly, Aria was sleeping on her right side with her back to Sonata, so Sonata walked around to the left side of the bed, knelt beside it and gently began to shake her older sister to wake her up. "Ari." Sonata whispered to her sister. "What?" Aria asked sleepily, opening one eye slightly to see who was waking her, she only asked her question when she saw that it was Sonata. "I can't sleep." Sonata answered, feeling slightly ashamed for waking her sister up. "Why can't you sleep Sonata?" Aria asked again slowly, careful not to put a lot of pressure on Sonata because of her anxiety. "The storm outside." Sonata answered as she pointed to the window above Aria's bed and outside at the storm. "Oh, I see. It's ok, it won't hurt you." Aria softly said to Sonata once she saw what her younger and clearly frazzled sister was pointing at. "ARI!" Sonata exclaimed slightly louder than she'd meant to when a clap of thunder and flash of lightning went off almost at once above the house, she crawled onto the bed and huddled up to Aria and began to shake. "Hey, you're alright Sonata. I'm right here, you don't have to be scared anymore, it'll be ok." Aria softly reassured Sonata as she rubbed her sister's back gently to try and soothe her. "I know. It's just scary for me, I've always feared it." Sonata explained to Aria. "I know, don't worry, I know why and I feel bad because you shouldn't have to fear it." Aria softly whispered to her to let Sonata know that it was ok that she was scared and that she knew why it was scary for her. "C-Can I sleep here tonight?" Sonata asked Aria as she continued to shake and huddle up to her older sister. "Yeah you can." Aria answered softly. "Really?!" Sonata exclaimed, slightly confused with why Aria was letting her sleep with her. "Yeah, you're scared and you don't feel like being alone because you're scared, I get that so you can sleep with me if it'll make you feel better." Aria explained quietly to her sister, brushing a strand of hair out of Sonata's eyes as she did so. "Oh, well, thanks Ari." Sonata replied, still confused but understood why Aria was letting her sleep with her at least. "No problem." Aria said, she looked up at the window when another clap of thunder and flash of lightning went off that scared Sonata and slowly reached up and closed the curtain to the window so Sonata wouldn't be able to see the flashes of light. Once that was done, Aria gently pulled the covers out from under Sonata and put them on top of her frazzled younger sister. When she did this, Sonata immediately moved over and cuddled up with Aria again, Aria didn't really care though, she was used to Sonata cuddling up to her when she was cold or scared of something. It was kind of like Sonata's way of saying that she felt safe, or that she felt safer when she huddled close to Aria, once Sonata had gotten herself comfortable in Aria's bed and they'd said goodnight to each other, Sonata drifted off to sleep and Aria did the same. Aria kept her left arm wrapped gently around Sonata's torso and kept her close to her, so Sonata wouldn't freak out. This was how they remained for the rest of the night.
