Turn 37, Doom Raizer pt2

The Duel between Doom Raizer and the four girls, Sunset Shimmer, Scootaloo, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle continued.

The four girls had stumbled upon Doom Raizer's secret underground lab, where they'd discovered hundreds of trapped Duel Spirits being used to generate Ener-D. Demanding him to stop, the four girls had challenged him to a Duel and he had accepted to a four on one Duel.

Doom Raizer had just used his Psycho Cage to trap Sunset's Solar Phoenix Rebirth, bringing it over to his side and putting an end to Sunset's stratagy.

"I must thank you for giving me such a beautiful monster Ms Shimmer," Doom said with an evil smile on his lips, "I look forward to adding it to my collection when this is all over."

"Collection?" Applebloom asked in a sickened manor.

"Oh course," Doom said, "my Duel Monster Spirit collection. When I was younger I had one of the best Duel Monster Card collections of all times and now I've evolved to the next level."

"That's disgusting!" Sweetie cried out, "Duel Monsters aren't just things to collect like dolls or stamps. They're living being who deserve the right to be free."

"She's right," Scootaloo said, "you can't do something like this. What do you have, some kind of sick fetish for holding living things captive?"

Doom didn't appear to appreciate being talked down to by a couple of kids.

"I didn't ask for a life review," he told them, "I don't care what a bunch of silly girls think about me. All I care about is defeating you and then turning your puny little brains blank.

"That's not gonna happen!" Sunset yelled out, "after I save my monster, you're going down!"

"Well aren't you a feisty one," Doom said before smirking, "maybe King Sombra will let me keep you for myself once you're hypnotised."

He licked his lips, causing the four girls to cringe in disgust.

"Anyway," Doom said, "I'm guessing you turn's over?"

Sunset just frowned at this. "I place one card face down and end my turn."

"Then it's my turn," Doom said as he reach for his deck and drew his card. Seeing the card he'd drawn he smiled and evil smile, before turning back to the girls. "I hope you're ready ladies, because I've just drawn the card that will win this whole match." He raised the card above his head. "I tribute Dark Brainiac to summon my most powerful monster, Theta Thinker!"

Dark Brainiac disappeared in a flash of light. In its place appeared a tall humanoid monster that looked similar to the monster Jinzo, only its armour was red with yellow spikes covering it. It's head was pink and vainy, almost like a brain, and it wore a silver mask which covers its eyes, nose and mouth. (A2400/D1500/L6)

The four girls stared at the monster in disgust, freaked out by its horrid appearance.

"Pretty impressive wouldn't you say?" Dooms said, "just wait until you see his ability."

Theta Thinker turned to the caged Solar Phoenix Rebirth and held out its hand, causing the bird to begin to glow. That light then moved like a mist over to Theta Thinker, who absorbed it into his body.

"What are you doing to my monster?" Sunset asked.

"Do any of you know what a Theta Wave is?" Doom asked.

"No," Scootaloo said with the other two girls agreeing.

"Theta Waves are the most powerful brainwave that can be created," Doom explained, "if a being can generate enough Theta Waves, they enter something called the Theta State. In the Theta State, information becomes easier to absorb allowing a person to literally think faster and max out their instincts. Theta Thinker's ability allows him to absorb the Theta Waves of other monsters and enter the Theta State. He's absorbing your Phoenix's Theta Waves and increasing his ATK points, by Phoenix's Level times one hundred. (A3200/D1500/L6) "Theta Thinker, attack!" The monster placed its thinks on its temples and unleashed several brainwaves, which flew at Sunset's monster.

"I activate my face down," Sunset called out as her card flipped up, "Brittle Shield. With this, my Firewall Defender will switch from ATK to DEF mode." The warrior crouched down, as a shield of fire shot out of of his gauntlet. The brainwave bounced off the fire shield, leaving Firewall Defender unarmed. "While in DEF mode, Firewall Defender can't be destroyed by battle."

"Not bad," Doom said, "very well. I end my turn."

"Then it's my turn," Sweetie said as she looked at her hand. She didn't have another monster, so If she couldn't draw one this turn then that Theta Thinker would wipe her out next turn. "I draw," she looked at her card and sighed it relief at the sight of a monster. "I summon Solo the Melodious Songstress in DEF mode," she said as her ballerina like monster appeared. (A1400/D1000/L4)

"Then it's my turn," Doom said as he drew his card and smirked seeing it, "and I'll equip Theta Thinker with the Hypno Helmet!" A silver metal helmet appeared on Theta Thinker's vainy head, it had a small satellite on the part covering its forehead. "With this device, when the Psychic Monster that wears it attacks a monster, I can chose to change that monsters battle position."

All four of the girl's eyes went wide hearing this. That meant that defending against this guy was pointless, since he could just switch their monster's modes.

"First Theta Thinker will activate his special ability," Doom explained as his monster turned to the caged Phoenix and drained more energy out of it. (A4000/D1500/L6) "Now Theta Thinker, switch Solo the Melodious Songstress to ATK mode and destroy her!" The satellite on Theta Thinker's helmet unleashed a beam of light which struck Solo's forehead, causing her eyes to go blank as she stood up.

"Don't do it!" Sweetie called out but it was to late.

Theta Thinker unleashed its psychic wave, which struck Solo and gave her a splitting headache before she was destroyed.

Sweetie was sent flying backwards from the explosion, landing face up on her back.

Doom: 5600
Sweetie: 1100
Applebloom: 3200
Scootaloo: 4000
Sunset: 4000

"Sweetie!" Applebloom called out.

"You okay?" Sunset asked her.

"Say something!" Scootaloo cried.

Sweetie groaned as she picked herself up. "I'm okay," she said, "don't worry about me."

"Oh you'll have plenty to worry about soon enough," Doom said as he ended his turn.

"If we want to take that thing down," Sunset said, "we have to get rid of Rebirth." She turned to the others. "I'd rather she be destroyed then under that psycho's control."

They all nodded before turning back to the battle.

"It's my turn," Applebloom said as she went to her deck, "I draw and once again I'll carve the arc of victory." The portal formed above her head. "I PENDULUM SUMMON!"

The portal opened and a beam of light shot out and struck the ground, taking the form of the monster Applebloom had used to Synchro Summon before. "Maiden of Cherry Blossom." (A2100/D1500/L5/P2) "Next I'll activate the Spell card Draining Thorn, which sucks a thousand ATK points from a monster on your side of the field and then transfers half that amount to a plant monster on my field."

Thorny vines wrapped around Solar Phoenix Rebirth and caused it to yell out as it was stabbed, draining its energy. (A2000/D2000/L8) Meanwhile the energy flowed throw the vines and into the ground, which travelled over Applebloom's Pendulum Monster and caused it to glow. (A2600/D1500/L5/P2)

"Now attack Solar Phoenix Rebirth!" The woman leapt into the air and struck the caged bird with its staff and causing an explosion.

Doom: 5000
Sweetie: 1100
Applebloom: 3200
Scootaloo: 4000
Sunset: 4000

Applebloom cheered at this, thinking she'd done it, before gasping as the smoke from her attack faded and revealed Rebirth still in its cage. "But how."

"Did I forget to mention that the Psycho Cage prevents the monster inside it from being destroyed?" Doom asked.

"Yes," Sunset growled, "yes you did."

"Oops," Doom chuckled.

Applebloom sighed at this. "I end my turn, my Maiden's ATK returns to normal." (A2100/1500/L5/P2)

"Then it's my turn," Doom said as he drew his card, "and once again I'll have Theta Thinker absorb Rebirth's power." (A4800/D1500/L6) "ATTACK!" Once again the Psychic Monster fired its brainwave attack, striking Applebloom's and destroying it while sending her flying back.

Doom: 5000
Sweetie: 1100
Applebloom: 500
Scootaloo: 4000
Sunset: 4000

"That had to hurt," Doom said.

"You okay?" Sunset asked.

"Yeah," Applebloom said as she picked herself up, "I'm fine."

"I think I'll end my turn there," Doom said.

"Then it's my turn," Scootaloo said, "I draw and I play Pot of Greed!" As she drew her two cards, she looked other her options and a plan formed in her head. "Here goes," she said, "I summon Dino Knight, Ptera Stinger in DEF mode!" A knight in yellow pterodactyl themed armour appeared, holding a pair of daggers in the shape of pterodactyl beaks. (A1700/D1300/L4/5) "I end my turn with a face down," she said.

"It's my turn," Doom said as he drew his card and smiled once again, "I activate Theta Thinker's ability once more!" (A5600/1500/L6) "And now I'll activate the Spell card Psychotic Rampage! Now I can select a monster on my field and it can attack every monster on your side of the field, so Theta Thinker will be attacking them all!"

The girls all gasped as this.

"Theta Thinker!" He cried out, "attack Firewall Defender, Wild Rush Raptor and Dino Knight Ptera Stinger!" The Jinzo ripoff fired two beams from its helmet, causing the two defending monsters to stand up into ATK mode, before unleashing its psychic waves.

Sunset felt hopeless as the waves approached them. "This is all my fault," she said, "I should have gotten the three of you out while I had the chance."

"No way," Scootaloo told her, "I don't regret coming in here. If we hadn't we never would have discovered what he was doing that the Duel Spirits would have continued suffering. At least now we still have a shot at saving them."

Sunset smiled at Scootaloo's just intentions. She was right, they couldn't give up. Not until these monsters were saved.

There was a massive explosion which engulfed the two girls.

"Scootaloo!" Sweetie yelled out

"Sunset!" Applebloom cried.

Doom laughed happily. With both her monsters destroyed, the damage would knock Scootaloo out of the Duel and Sunset would be doing any better. However, when the smoke cleared her had to take a double take.

Both Scootaloo and Sunset were standing.

Doom: 5000
Sweetie: 1100
Applebloom: 500
Scootaloo: 100
Sunset: 200

"But how?" He asked turning to Scootaloo, "you shouldn't have any life points left."

"My Trap activated just in time," Scootaloo explained pointing to her face down, which then flipped up. "Extinction Buster," she said, "I had to tribute a Dinosaur monster to use it, but that's fine since it saved me."

"So you tributed your Wild Rush Raptor?" Doom asked.

"That's right," Scootaloo said, "and now for it's next effect." Suddenly Wild Rush Raptor reappeared and flew at the Psycho Cage, before using its clawed feet to grab one of the disk like devices and crushing it to pieces before disappearing.

"What are you doing?" Doom asked.

"Extinction Buster lets me tribute a dinosaur monster and in exchange I can destroy one face up Spell or Trap on the field," Scootaloo explained with a massive smile on her face.

With one of the devices busted, the energy weakened and Solar Phoenix Rebirth was able to break out and free itself.

Sunset's eyes lit up with joy seeing her monster be freed, before it flew over to her side of the field and hovered above her head.

"You're back," she said happily, before turning to Scootaloo. "Thank you."

Scootaloo just smirked and gave her a thumbs up, before turning back to Doom. "And without Rebirth on your field, Theta Thinker's power up ability is now gone."

Theta Thinker cried out as it held its head, while its power began to diminish. (A2400/D1500/L6)

Doom growled at this, but wouldn't be stopped now. "You may have got your monster back, but it won't help you. I end my turn."

Sunset hated to admit it, but he was right. Sure she could destroy Theta Thinker, but it wouldn't defeat him and if he managed to summon another powerful monster on his next turn she wouldn't survive. She needed a way to beat him this turn. She went to her deck and drew her card, seeing what it was gave her an idea but-

"Sunset," Sweetie called out, "if you've got a plan, then tell us what we can do to help."

Sunset smiled. "Well if you can get me a pair of Level one monsters that would help."

"Well I don't know about a getting you two," Sweetie said, "but I can get you one." Her face down flipped up, revealing a Trap card. "I activate Fusion Spirit," she said, "this card lets me revive a Fusion Monster from the graveyard, but it's ATK and DEF are zeroed out and it's Level set to one."

Schuberta the Melodious Maestra reappeared on the field. (A0/D0/L1)

"I'm also activating a Trap," Applebloom called out, "Synchro Spirit! This card lets me revive a Synchro Monster from the graveyard, but it's ATK and DEF are zeroed out and it's Level set to one."

Maiden of Great Bloom also reappeared, landing next to Sweetie's monster. (A0/D0/L1)

Sunset smiled at this and turned to the girls. "Thank you, all of you. Together, we gonna take this freak down."

The three nodded as Sunset turned to the Duel. "I'll start by activating the Spell card Magic Duplicater, which allows me to activate the effects of a Spell card twice this turn. With that, I can use Magician of Radiant Sunlight's ability to turn both Schuberta and Maiden of Great Bloom into Tuner Monsters!" The teenage wizard raised it's wands and fired a magic blast at the two, causing them to glow.

"So now their Tuner Monster?" Sweetie asked

"What's she gonna do?" Scootaloo asked.

"I'll show you," Sunset said, "I'm tuning Level one Schuberta the Melodious Maestra and Level one Maiden of Great Bloom with Level eight Solar Phoenix Rebirth!" The two monster leapt into the air and joined hands, before turning into a pair of lights which carved a pair of shining circles. Solar Phoenix Rebirth flew inside the circles and began to glow.

"She using two Tuner Monsters?" Applebloom asked in amazement.

"Double Tuning!" Sunset cried as her monster disappeared in a flash of light. "Appear, the embodiment of my new strength!" Sunset screamed as the light faded and her new monster was revealed.

This new form had three sets of golden wings and wore golden armour around its chest and a golden helmet that seemed to double as a crown. It's tail and the feathers coming out the back of its helmet were now ablaze. "Level Ten, Solar Monarch - FRIENDSHIP PHOENIX!" (A3500/D3000/L10)

Everyone was mesmerised by Sunset's newest monster.

"I activate Solar Monarch's ability," Sunset explained, "during each turn it returns our life points to four thousand!" The large birds fire flew off its body and surrounded to group, bathing them in its healing flames.

Doom: 5000
Sweetie: 4000
Applebloom: 4000
Scootaloo: 4000
Sunset: 4000

"Now I'll attack with my Friendship Phoenix!" Sunset called out.

"Go ahead," Doom said, "it won't be enough, come my next turn I'll wipe you and your overgrown turkey out."

"You're not getting another turn," Sunset said, "because I'm activating Solar Monarch's other ability. An ability that let's any Duellist give up their own life points and add them to Friendship Phoenix." She turned to the younger girls, "mind sparing some points?"

The three smiled at this and nodded.

"Their all yours," Scootaloo said.

The four glowed as their life points were converted into ATK points and given to Solar Monarch, Friendship Phoenix."

Doom: 5000
Sweetie: 100
Applebloom: 100
Scootaloo: 100
Sunset: 100

(A19100/D3000/L10)

"That's almost twenty thousand ATK points!" Doom screamed as he saw this.

"DOOM RAIZER!"

He turned to look down at Sunset, who had a look of pure hatred on her face.

"You tried to use your power to control living things and make them do your bidding, thinking that will make you stronger in the long run, well it won't. I know, I used to be the same way. But it's only by combining your power with those around you, working with them as a team, that will truly make you strong." She looked up at her monster, whose entire body burst into flames before taking off. "You're subjugation of Duel Monster Spirits ends now."

Suddenly, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Applebloom's Duel Disk glowed before that light shot off and took the form of Wild Rush Raptor, Schuberta the Melodious Maestra and Maiden of Great Bloom. The three monster shot into the air and flew around Solar Monarch.

"What is this?" Doom asked, "why are those monsters here."

"Because their working together," Sunset explained, "fighting as one. Wild Rush Raptor, who sacrificed itself to save Phoenix from your entrapment, and Schuberta and Maiden, who lent Phoenix their power so he could achieve his ultimate form. These four monsters united their spirits and are now going to combined their power to put an end to your evil ways."

The three Duel Spirits transformed back into light, which surrounded Friendship Phoenix in a shining aura as the flaming bird rocketed at Theta Thinker.

"Now go!" The four girls cried in unison, "UNITED BURNING SOUL!"

The firebird struck the armoured psychic and a massive explosion occurred. Doom yelled out as the flames engulfed him and his platform was destroyed, sending him flying.

Doom: 0
Sweetie: 100 (Winner)
Applebloom: 100 (Winner)
Scootaloo: 100 (Winner)
Sunset: 100 (Winner)

As the holograms all faded, the girls all cheered at their combined victory.

"I can't believe we did it," Sweetie cheered.

"Me neither," Applebloom said.

"That last move was great," Scootaloo told Sunset, who smiled in response.

"I couldn't have done it without you girls," Sunset replied.

Suddenly their attention shifted to Doom, who despite having lost was laughing his head off.

"What's so funny?" Scootaloo asked.

"Yeah," Applebloom said, "you lost."

"Did I?" Doom replied as he stood up, "I may have lost the battle, but the war is as good as ours!"

"What are you talking about?" Sunset asked.

"Did you forget the purpose of this facility?" Doom asked them.

A cold chill ran down their spine as they suddenly remembered.

"That's right," Doom said, "it was to collect Ener-D and thanks to that last big attack, we've collected enough Ener-D to finally summon the final monster."

"No," Sweetie said.

"He tricked us," Applebloom said.

"We have to stop it," Scootaloo said.

"To late," Doom replied, "it's already been transferred to my king's location."

"No," Sunset growled.

CRACK!

That sudden sound caught all their attentions, causing them to look up and see the containers holding the Duel Spirits had all been damaged by that Duel's last attack. Now the Duel Spirits were slamming against their glass prisons and increasing the damage.

"No," Doom said seeing this, "don't do that."

They continued banging on the glass until finally, with an earsplitting crash, they all shattered and the Duel Spirits were freed.

The hundreds of monsters flew through the air, enjoying their renewed freedom before turning their gaze on Doom Raizer. One spirit, Happy Lover, flew down to the girls and began speak. Scootaloo recognised it as the voice that she'd heard earlier and her eyes went wide hearing what it had to say.

"Oh boy," she said.

"What'd it say?" Sunset asked.

"It told us we should leave quickly," she translated, "while we still can."

They all looked up and saw the spirits begin to crowd around Doom.

"No," he said as he turned to the girls, "please help me."

Sunset just smirked. "I think whatever punishment they deem worthy, is what you deserve."

With that the four turned towards the door, which had been blasted opened by Friendship Phoenix, and rushed through it. They ran as fast as they could, up the stairs, into the warehouse and then outside. While they were doing that, the building had begun to shake, causing them to grow nervous and double their efforts. Seconds after they got outside, the whole building suddenly collapsed on top of itself.

The girls looked at the wreck that had once been the building, before sighing in relief at their escape. Scootaloo stared at the pile of rubble and noticed several lights flying out from beneath the pile and then into the air. One of the lights transformed into Happy Lover, who smiled at her and nodded her thanks before changing back into light and flying off

The four returned to Freeze Stadium and told everyone about their adventure.

To say the members of the younger girls family were unhappy about them going into a dangerous area would be...underplaying it, but they were just happy they were safe.

"We're sorry," Sweetie Belle said, "it's because of us that Sombra can summon that last monster now."

"That would have happened eventually anyway," Cold said, "from what you told us, they would have just kept using the Duel Spirits to generate it. You girls saved them from further pain."

"He's right darling," Rarity assured her sister, "what matters is you're safe and you were able to help those poor creatures out."

"You four did a heck of a job," Applejack said.

"Eeyup," Mac said in agreement.

Cold placed a hand on Sunset's shoulder and smiled at her. "You've come a long way from the lonely girl I met that day. I'm proud to have had a hand in helping you grow into who you are."

Sunset smiled and nodded, before they both turned back to the group.

"Now listen up," Cold said, "we'll need to be extra careful from here on. Now that he can summon the last monster, Sombra will obviously move on to his grand scheme."

"So what do we do?" Thorax asked him.

"We have to be ready for whatever he might try," Cold said, "we have to be on guard at all times."

"I guess you've got a point," Twilight sad. Her mind then went to Flash, who was laying on the bed still unconscious in the medical bay. "But whatever it is, I just hope we can do it without him."

A little while later, Scootaloo entered into her brothers room.

"Hey bro," she said as she sat down and took his hand in hers. "Please wake up soon. You and me have only just recently grown close once again, I don't want to lose that."

"He'll wake up soon."

Scootaloo looked up and saw her grandfather step into the room. He stepped over to them and sat down in the chair opposite the her.

"I want to believe that," Scootaloo said, "but no matter what I keep feeling like it isn't going to happen."

Grand Hoof got up out of his and brought it over to her side and sat back down, before pulling his granddaughter into a hug. Scootaloo couldn't stop it and she began to cry into his shoulder.

"Don't worry," he told her, "if there's a way to wake your brother up, I'll find it."

Scootaloo cried into his shoulder for several more minutes, until finally she was cried out and wiped her eyes one her sleeve.

"So," Grand said, wanting to change the subject, "you can hear Duel Monster Spirits."

"I guess," Scootaloo said.

"Guess you take after your mother," Grand said with a smile."

"You think?" Scootaloo asked.

"Yeap, though she started seeing them a lot sooner. Guess you're just a late bloomer."

"I guess," Scootaloo said, "do you think I can do what Flash can do? Make a connection between the two worlds."

"Maybe," Grand said, "he can do it because he was born in that universe. We don't know if you were as well. It's possible you could learn to do it, in time."

"I guess," Scootaloo said.

Meanwhile in the ruins of the Duel Monster Spirit World, a single cloaked figure stepped into the area.

Suddenly there was a flash of light and the figure looked around to see a large portal like object appear. From that portal stepped out two beings, one being another cloaked figure while the other was Vail Pixie. The second figure had a white glow coming off his body.

The two cloaked figures rushed over to each other and threw their arms around the other.

"It's been so long," the first figure, a female, said.

"I know," the second one, a man, replied.

They pulled away from each other and removed their hoods. Doing so revealed them to be Misty Vail and Trail Blazer, who shared a quick kiss before turning back to the ruins.

"The moment is drawing closer," she said, "soon the Shadow Gate will open."

"There has to be something we can do," Trail said.

"Our only hope is our son," Misty said, "he's the only one with the power to stop this."

"But is he ready?" Trail asked.

"Only one way to find out," she said. She then turned to Vail Pixie. "We need you," she said.

"What'cha need?" The fairy asked as she flew around them.

"We need you to bring our children here," Misty asked, "it's time to test our son and see how far he's come."
