“Chapter 5: To Canterlot High and back” (Part 1)
Intro: Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Lorde version):
Canterlot High School, Planet Earth?
All of Canterlot High was in a frenzy as the Friendship Games were fast approaching as one individual was busy writing in her journal outside of the school.
The student in question was none other than Sunset Shimmer whose green eyes were filled with worry and concern as Princess Celestia her former teacher was telling her something very urgent; Twilight Sparkle had become possessed by a creature named Rita Repulsa and currently being used as her Green Ranger to destroy the Power Rangers.
Running a hand through her red and yellow hair that in her pony form would’ve been her mane and tail, she soon got a surprise when a mysterious object came out of her book; a coin-like object that was gold with a clear crystal in the center that looked like a Tiger’s paw.
“What is this?” Sunset asked to herself.
Adjusting her black leather jacket and wiping off any dust off of her orange skirt and her t-shirt that was magenta with her old cutie mark that being of a yellow and red sun, she quickly got up, closed her book and went to her cabin on the other side of town as fast as her black and hot pink boots could carry her.
Getting inside, she removed her jacket and boots before deciding to have quick snack as she continued to read on what had happened in Equestria last time Twilight had visited.
Her cabin wasn’t much; a living room area that had a deck further up ahead, a set of stars that led up to a bathroom and a bedroom, and another set of stars that led to a laundry room, a guest room, and a second bathroom. A storm shelter existed near the right-side of the cabin for twisters and such.
She then decided to have dinner before she decided to go to sleep in her bedroom to see if she could take her mind off the matter.
The next day, she woke up though she felt a bit different as she felt her muscles be a bit more firm like as if she had suddenly become a body builder.
“What is going on here?” Sunset asked herself.
Looking around, she saw the White Ranger Power Coin was still near her pillow as when she grabbed her clothing and a towel to shower, the Power Coin followed her as she then saw it on a sink.
Shrugging it off for now, Sunset proceeded to shower that as she showered, she thought of a dream that she had that was more of a nightmare that showed Rita holding some type of crystal with the Dazzlings, the Green Ranger, and an Alicorn she didn’t recognize near her as Rita laughed before moving in for the kill that at that point, she woke up from her sleep.
Sunset then thought more of why she was selected to be the White Power Ranger given her past, but then recalled how friendship was making her become a better person or pony for that matter thanks to Twilight, a princess she now had to help save.
Finishing up her shower, Sunset then wrapped a towel around herself before she briefly stared at herself in the mirror before she went ahead to get dressed.
After getting dressed in blue jeans, black bra and panties, teal t-shirt, and her signature black leather jacket, Sunset had breakfast before getting her boots on and then she then headed off to Canterlot High with the White Ranger Coin in her pocket.
Arriving at school, Sunset eventually got the attention of a few students who noticed Sunset’s more bulked up form thinking she took drugs, but she ignored them as she made her way to the school’s roof to think when a bright light trickled at the base of the statue in front of the school.
“What is that?” Sunset said to herself.
Emerging from the portal were five individuals Sunset didn’t recognize prompting her to pull out her journal from Princess Celestia where she quickly saw a new note added just now; the Power Rangers had come to help her fight Rita, free Twilight, and defeat the Dazzlings for good.
Making her way down from the roof, Sunset then met the Power Rangers in person while giving them a quick look over before Jason spoke to the former student of Princess Celestia.
“Are you Sunset Shimmer?”
Sunset nodded and spoke, “Um, yeah? That’s me…the one who has a question or two from you five.”
“Could we find a place to talk privately?” Kimberly asked.
Nodding, the group made their way to the roof Sunset had been to earlier while ignoring the students and staff of the school as moments later, the group arrived at their destination.
After quickly making sure that no one could see them, the Power Rangers de-morphed that normally was not allowed, but Sunset was given an exception given the circumstances.
“Okay, could you all tell me what’s been going on lately? First I get word Twilight’s been taken over by this Rita Repulsa and now, I have a power coin?” Sunset Shimmer said.
After they all introduced themselves over the course of several minutes, Jason and his team then told Sunset Shimmer what was going on from what they’ve experienced from when they got word of the new Green Ranger to their battles and to the present day that took at least 20 minutes to fully explain to the former student of Princess Celestia.
Sunset Shimmer than spoke, “I see, you all couldn’t have come at a rather somewhat tense time.”
“Why is that?” Trini asked.
“It is the Friendship Games between Canterlot High and Crystal Prep with the latter winning a lot in the past decade or so.” Sunset Shimmer said.
“And how do we Power Rangers and Rita complicate things?” Zack asked.
Before Sunset Shimmer could explain, everyone saw that Billy was looking at the statue of Canterlot High and that of a figure wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a device examining it.
“What is that?” Kimberly asked.
“Is it Twilight? Could it be she’s gathering info for Rita?” Billy then asked seconds later.
“Who knows and-“
Jason didn’t finish when Zack morphed into his ranger form and leapt downwards to the ground leaving a slight crater in the grass below and started to walk towards the figure who turned around and naturally, freaked out before she ran away.
“Wait come back mystery person!” Zack shouted.
What he didn’t realize was that the person he was chasing was none other than a duplicate or double of Twilight Sparkle who shared the same name as her counterpart and wasn’t the Green Ranger.
For Twilight Sparkle of Crystal Prep, she had seen and heard about many strange things around Canterlot High School, but this figure chasing after her asking her what she was doing as she then got on a bus and hoped it was the last of the figure chasing her.
What she didn’t realize was that Zack in his ranger form and leapt up and landed on the roof of the bus where moments later, the bus came to a stop at Crystal Prep Academy.
Looking at the place, Zack saw that in contrast to the brick and mortar-like design of Canterlot High along with its horse figures on parts of it, Crystal Prep reminded him of a mega church he learned about in school due to its glass like façade and the gate in front of the school.
He then saw the person he was chasing after exiting the bus and what stunned him was that aside from the maroon vest, aquamarine shirt, black square glasses, dark purple socks, black lady dress shoes with a diamond buckle deign for each shoe, and maroon skirt with purple and white lines, she almost looked like the Twilight Sparkle his team were trying to free.
Jumping off the bus, the Crystal Prep version of Twilight saw him and naturally freaked out before she blurted out a naturally scared reaction at seeing him at her school.
“Who are you?! What do you want from me?!”
Zack then spoke, “Relax, I’m not here to hurt-“
The black Power Ranger didn’t get to finish when Twilight ran off scared as Hell towards her school as Zack then went after her as both entered the school with Twilight shouting to the rest of the students out of fear.
“Help me! There’s this freak chasing after me!”
Two students of Crystal Prep didn’t get to think when Zack accidentally knocked them over when he ran into them sending them both to the ground prompting him to apologize before he continued to chase after Twilight.
For Twilight nicknamed Sci-Twilight due to her love of science, today was supposed to have been just a normal analyzing of magic at Canterlot High School, but instead she was now running away from this mysterious creature who called out to her as they ran.
“Stop! I just want to talk to you! I don’t want to hurt you!”
Sci-Twilight then rounded a corner and disappeared into a room she used for her own personal studies as the rest of the people at the school aside from Dean Cadence weren’t very accepting of her socially awkward tendencies hoping to lose the creature chasing her.
Slumping down, she felt her heart racing like never before as she had never run this fast before in her life as she hoped she had lost whoever it was chasing her.
Then, she heard footsteps and braced for the worse as she heard the door opening as stepping inside, was the very creature she was running away from and naturally, she screamed her head off assuming the worse would happen.
To Twilight’s surprise, the creature bent down to her level and spoke in a calm and gentle voice as she got a good look at the creature who looked like some sci-fi hero.
“Don’t worry, I will not hurt you. Sorry about scaring you as blame it on this suit’s design. I mean you no harm as you were at the statue my friends and I came out of earlier doing something. As for who I am, I’m the Black Power Ranger.”
Sci-Twilight realized that the suited figure before her was only trying to talk started to get up and by the time she got up, four beams of color appeared out of the blue that were of the colors red, yellow, pink, and blue showing more of the same type of beings the black Power Ranger was as the red one spoke in a stern voice.
“Z- I mean my fellow ranger that was the most bone-headed thing you did as Power Rangers are supposed to be friendly not scary.”
Sci-Twilight looked at the whole group known as the Power Rangers with curiosity with a bit of awe as before she could ask the team of heroes questions, footsteps were heard prompting them to think fast for a solution.
“Hey, I got an idea; we turn invisible as each of our Power Coins gave each of us unique abilities like I can turn us and our team invisible for example.” Zack said.
“How do you know this?” Kimberly asked.
Billy then spoke, “Alpha 5 and Zordon along with myself one day shortly after Rita and Goldar where defeated, I found out with their help, Zordon and Alpha 5’s help specifically that we each have differently abilities as one of us can be invisible or turn us all invisible us via the Mastodon coin like what one of us like what I just said now though both abilities can only be used by the black Power Ranger, the Saber tooth Tiger coin grants super agility like making rock climbing a breeze, the Pterodactyl coin can allow for flight, the Triceratops coin grants me super strong skin along with increase in intelligence making me smarter and invulnerable for certain amount time though when Rita had us captive it couldn’t work thus negating my powers for a bit, and last, but not least, the Tyrannosaurus Rex coin can grant the user super speed and endurance when running fast. The Green Ranger and White Range coins I still don’t know what they can do.”
After getting the go ahead, the Power Ranger team turned invisible as someone entered the room where they and Sci-Twilight were at. The person entering almost was a complete duplicate of Princess Cadence known as Dean Cadence who aside from her teal dress shirt, dark blue suit jacket with what looked like the cutie mark of Princess Cadence on it, and seafoam green business skirt with her golden yellow high heels looked just like the Alicorn of Love.
She also had a neck piece similar to her anthro pony counterpart as she soon came in with a bit of a concerned look on her face as she soon spoke up.
“Twilight, are you okay? You were screaming earlier about some creature chasing after you?” Dean Cadence asked.
“It’s okay now, he’s gone and turns out, he wasn’t bad and it was a misunderstanding. Besides, his team leader came by to get him and reprimanded him for his stunt as they then left just now. Is there something you need?” Sci-Twilight said.
“Yes, Principal Abacus Cinch wants to see you.” Dean Cadence said.
Nodding, she and Dean Cadence left, but unknown to them, the Power Rangers secretly followed them while trying to avoid the other students and faculty in the building very carefully.
Eventually, they entered the office of the leader of Crystal Prep; Abacus Cinch sitting at her desk with her hands folded over her mouth and they could clearly see that she was a polar opposite of Dean Cadence making Billy even though he was cloaked with his team a bit nervous as her room was barely lit at all.
The Power Ranger team got a good look at Principal Cinch as she was older than Dean Cadence, her wine-colored eyes bore no joy at all along with her dark red glasses, a midnight blue skirt, black with a teal strip, indigo jacket, a red and gold necklace, and a dark aquamarine dress shirt gave a Victoria-era look to her. The teal skin and her hair done in a tight bun that had the colors of magenta, light purple, and dark purple all spoke of a stern and no fun lady.
Principal Cinch then spoke, “Twilight, normally I would talk about your scholarship into Everton, but I want to know this; are you sure there was an intruder in our school? Even I find it deeply concerning as if word got out that our school Crystal Prep was breached by some unknown intruder, our attendance rate would drop so, who or what was it that had you screaming like a banshee?”
“Oh it was just some strange weirdo dressed in a costume looking to scare me, but thankfully he was removed from this school by his friends who just came by and left just now. They were all dressed like the Power Rangers for some reason.” Sci-Twilight said.
“The Power Rangers? Those creatures? Last I heard, they were still in Angel Grove or something like that and did they look like multi-colored teenage heroes with attitude in tight spandex outfits that were imported from Japan, cut up, and made into American heroes? I think you’ve been watching too much 90’s kiddy shows.” Principal Cinch said.
Unknown to her, the Power Rangers were actually right in her office right now, but cloaked and listening to every single bit of dialogue she had as soon, a duplicate of Shining Armor came in clad a purple sweater with the same mark as the anthro pony version of Shining Armor, light blue dress shirt with a black tie, dark blue pants, pale white skin, and gray shoes came in the office and spoke up.
“Twily, are you okay? Were hurt by that stranger?”
Sci-Twilight shook her head and spoke, “I’m fine and it was a misunderstanding and he was wondering why I was at Canterlot High looking at their statue of their mascot.”
The former Crystal Prep student nodded as they all were discussing the Friendship Games with Shining Armor encouraging his sister to participate in the games, but at least the Scholar part.
At first, the Power Rangers didn’t see anything fishy or odd about the discussion until Abacus Cinch asked Dean Cadence and Shining Armor to leave that they saw something that made them worried that prompted Billy to record the rest of the time in the room; the leader of Crystal Prep was extorting and blackmailing Sci-Twilight into the Friendship Games or lose a scholarship to an independent study program.
Furthermore, she also asked Sci-Twilight in a very threatening manner to spy on the Power Rangers and pretend to be their friend to see who they were under their ranger forms or black-list her from other schools along with the friends Sunset Shimmer was with.
Realizing what was needing to be done, they were about the morph away when Abacus Cinch happened to walk right into Trini causing the cloak to drop exposing them all to principal of Crystal Prep and Sci-Twilight.
“Oh hi there…” Zack said nervously.
Before Abacus Cinch could react, the five Power Rangers then used their morphers with their Power Coins to teleport away in multiple colored lights leaving everyone including Dean Cadence who grabbed her Blue-Tooth Device off Abacus Cinch’s desk when she wasn’t looking and turned it off as Sci-Twilight then spoke up to all wondering what just happened.
“Um, if you asked before…those were the Power Rangers including that black one that was chasing me? See? I wasn’t lying.”
On the other hand, the Power Rangers teleported back to Canterlot High and de-morphed in a spot away from any prying eyes as Trini spoke up in an angry voice.
“I can’t believe that lady would stoop that low to win a stupid game!”
Zack then spoke, “Jason, why didn’t you stand up for her? You did the same with Billy back when you first met him when you defended him from that asshole bully Cole Wallace.”
“It’s complicated really as once our cover was blown, we had to flee.” Jason said.
“Besides, I’ve used my Power Coin to record that mean principal’s actions.” Billy said with a smile.
Kimberly then spoke up, “Besides, we also need to keep an eye out for Rita and her Green Ranger along with those trio of Serein creatures Sunset Shimmer mentioned.”
Back with Sci-Twilight, the student of Crystal Prep was holding a device that at first glance looked like a combination lock, but was actually a device for monitoring magic levels as she waiting to board a bus decked in Crystal Prep colors of black, yellow strips, a purple diamond, and a darker shade of purple for the "S" on the bus for Shadowbolts that would take them to Canterlot High for the Friendship Games.
One student named that was ahead of her was Sour Sweet who wore an outfit identical to Sci-Twilight though her light blue shirt was more visible arrogantly was boasting of how they would win the Friendship Games like always as her moderate indigo eyes showed hubris in her school. Her hair was a combination of Moderate Rose, Grayish aquamarine, and a lighter shade of Moderate Rose as her skin was a tone of pale, light grayish gold.
Behind Sci-Twilight was Indigo Zap also wearing the same outfit as her classmates though she had a pair of orange-gold earrings in the shape of lightning bolts and a pair of orange aviator goggles on her head, her skin color was a light amberish gray, her eyes were that of a Brilliant gamboge, and her hair was a combination of Dark cornflower blue, moderate cerulean, and moderate arctic blue.
Next up was Lemon Zest whose hair was a combination of Light pistachio with pale, light grayish green, and light brilliant lime green streaks. She also had Light brilliant amber eyes, an eyeshadow of Grayish arctic blue, and her skin tone was that of a Pale, light grayish amaranth along with wearing the same Crystal Prep outfit as her fellow female classmates, but she had a pair of hot pink headphones as she rocked out to some heavy metal rock music.
The next one up to board the bus was Sugar Coat whose Grayish orchid eyes spoke of boredom and her skin was that of a Light phthalo bluish gray. Her hair was a color fusion of Light opalish gray and light arctic blush gray streaks. She also wore a pair of orange-rimmed glasses and her hairs was in a pair of pig tails and wore the same outfit as her female classmates.
Lastly was a student named Sunny Flare who had Moderate cerise eyes, Light turquoise gray skin color, Dark indigo eye shadow, had a pair of silver tech bracelets on her wrists, wore a similar outfit to her female classmates, and her hair was a combination of Grayish mulberry and light raspberry streaks.
While they all boarded the bus, Rita secretly watched from the shadows and spoke to herself while her Green Ranger stood near her as the students were oblivious to her intent.
“Hm, a means to gather more energy? Perfect, just need the right chance to snatch it!”
Twilight then spoke, “I can grab it right now empress…”
“Patience my Green Ranger, the chance will come and do you find it amusing that you are looking at essentially a duplicate of yourself?” Rita asked.
After receiving no answer, Rita used her staff to disguise herself as a homeless beggar along with her Sirens and her Green Ranger as the secretly shrunk themselves and stowed away on the bus for the Shadowbolts the sport team of Crystal Prep.
On the other hand, the Power Rangers met with the human counterparts of Twilight’s friends and the same group Sunset Shimmer once hurt, but now was on good terms with them.
Aside from their clothing and their human forms, they looked almost identical to the ponies that Jason’s team had met earlier beforehand and showed them Principal Cinch’s true colors as Billy would say it along with telling them what had recently happened to the Twilight they knew.
“When I get my hands on that Rita Repulsa, she’ll wish she never had taken Twilight to be her Green Ranger!” EQ Rainbow Dash shouted.
“Easy there hot head, she’s not easy to fight as first time we fought her, it ended badly…” Kimberly said sternly.
“Besides, what part of former Power Ranger turned evil did you not get? She’s also very skilled in using energy for her own ends as she turned the Alicorn Amulet into a Power Coin to channel her powers.” Billy said.
Trini nodded and spoke, “Besides, she isn’t a push over easily and if anyone who isn’t skilled like her encountered her, it would end badly for them.”
The Equestria Girls version of Pinkie Pie strolled by with her white t-shirt with a pink heart, hot pink jean pants with the same mark as the original form of Pinkie Pie, and baby blue shoes with an optimistic smile as she got the school ready for the Friendship Games.
“Well, at least she’s in good spirits…” Trini said.
“Yeah, she is…” EQ Fluttershy said.
The counterpart of Fluttershy had a white tank top, green jean pants that had the same mark as the original version of Fluttershy, and tan sandals to go with her look.
On the other hand, the Equestria Girls counterpart of Applejack just folded her arms over her white and green shirt that was very southern from Jason’s view, dark blue jeans, a brown belt that had the same mark as her anthro pony counterpart, and had brown cowboy boots that went with her brown Stenson hat.
The counterpart for Rarity on the other hand had a purple skirt with three diamonds on it, blue shirt, and purple high heels to go with her outfit as she was busy helping with the clothing for the sport team for Canterlot High School.
“Well, at least we have some helping hands this year.” EQ Rainbow Dash said.
As expected, the counterpart for Rainbow Dash had a blue denim jacket, a white t-shirt with the same mark as Rainbow Dash’s cutie mark, dark blue denim jeans, and dark pink running shoes.
Then, the announcement came that the Shadowbolts the sports team from Crystal Prep was on their way as everyone moved to help give the rival team a chance to break the ice before the main events.
As they headed out with the other students, Jason noticed out of the corner of his eye that Sunset Shimmer was talking to the counterparts of Princesses Celestia and Luna for some reason.
The counterpart of Princess Celestia aside from her hair being the same color as her anthro pony counterpart along with her eyes and the tone of her skin being similar, she had on a gold-yellow suit jacket, purple and white shirt, purple business pants, a purple and gold watch, a pendant showing a sun just like Princess Celestia, and gold business shoes.
On the other hand, the human counterpart of Princess Luna had the same hair color as her anthro pony counterpart along with her eyes along with the color of her skin being the similar as well. She had purple and white business shoes, dark blue pants, a dark blue belt with a white and blue buckle, and a light purple short-sleeve shirt with a collar piece that had the same mark as Princess Luna’s cutie mark.
Deciding not to dwell on it for now, they all soon enough headed to the gym of Canterlot High where the two schools would meet as Jason and his team decided to observe the activities in the Ranger forms as for a moment, they disappeared behind the curtains on a stage set up so they could morph and reemerged in their ranger forms.
Then, the Shadowbolts arrived as they all came in looking all high and smug much to Jason’s annoyance as he recalled how his arrogance costed him his spot on the football team with his dumb prank as the Shadowbolts were acting like they were better than Canterlot High.
“If you fools ran into Rita, then you wouldn’t be feeling all mighty would you?” Jason thought to himself.
The Shadowbolts did notice the Power Rangers standing around and one of them got in Kimberly’s morphed face which that one was none other than Sour Sweet before speaking to her.
“Who the heck are you pinky? If you’re a Wondercolt, then you’re going down!” Sour Sweet shouted.
“Oh please, you and your Shadowbolts wouldn’t last a minute against Rita’s Putty Patrollers…” Kimberly said with her voice disguised.
Jason then spoke, “Besides, how old are you all? Five? That behavior will come back and bite you all…just ask Jason Scott of Angel Grove High…”
What the Shadowbolts didn’t realize was that Jason in his ranger form was talking about himself, but with his voice disguised so he wouldn’t be recognized.
Then, Sci-Twilight recognized Jason’s team in the Power Ranger forms and walked up to them surprising the rest of the Shadowbolts as she seemed to be at ease with them as she then spoke to them.
“Didn’t expect you all to be here. Are you making sure there are no baddies to ruin the Friendship Games?”
“Yes we are! With us around, no baddies will ruin this friendly completion!” Zack shouted in his ranger form.
The rest of the Shadowbolts got a surprise when Sci-Twilight shook the hands of the Power Rangers and smiled at them to which Sugar Coat spoke up.
“Then why were one of you at our school earlier then? For your information, I was one of those students knocked over by your black armored friend!”
“Oh me? I was just wondering why your classmate Twilight was looking at Canterlot High’s statue and it was a misunderstanding, but it’s okay now…Also, sorry about knocking you over pretty lady…” Zack said calmly in ranger form.
Sugar Coat blushed and spoke, “Wha..what?! You’re weird!”
“So you’re the Power Rangers? Where are your spandex outfits?” Lemon Zest asked.
“Oh at the dry cleaners…” Billy said in his ranger form.
Jason then spoke, “Well, we’d love to stay and chat, but we got to go and keep an eye out for any trouble makers…so bye!”
Like almost magic, Jason and his team in their ranger forms teleported away from the Shadowbolts and to an area away from the two groups were they de-morphed and re-entered the gym, but from the shadows.
It was then that Jason and his friends stepped out of the shadows to the two school groups present, but the moment they did, some of them looked squarely at Jason as Lemon Zest’s eyes widened and she spoke.
“Oh my, who is that rather handsome boy?”
Then several students squealed like fan girls and cheered from both Canterlot High and Crystal Prep who then surrounded him leaving Jason’s team utterly confused as when Jason looked at Dean Cadence, Vice-Principal Luna, and Principal Celestia for help, they all just merely shrugged in confusion with their hands up staying to him that they had no clue at all though Jason swore they were laughing at this a bit.
“Looks like you Jason are a bit of a chick magnet!” Dean Cadence said between giggles.
“Seriously? What is with these girls?” Jason said in annoyance.
Indigo Zap then spoke, “He’s not the only hot dude, and I see another one clad in a black jacket looking tasty…as for third guy, he’s a text-book example of adorkable.”
Billy blushed a bit and spoke, “Whoa there ladies, I’m not that attractive anyway…somewhere, my dad is laughing his butt off at this…”
“What is wrong with you girls? They’re just a trio of well-built guys and their female friends aren’t taking it too kindly.” Sunset Shimmer said calmly.
“You’re telling us…” Trini said in a deadpan voice.
With that taken care of and out of the way the two groups began to actually show not hostility, but friendship as in the shadows, Rita Repulsa watched with her sirens and her Green Ranger though things were soon to change…
