The autumn night blew gently as colored leaves flew past Fluttershy's cottage. Fluttershy sat in her living room, trying to understand what to do. Nightmare night was approaching within weeks. It was only the beginning of the month! But for the shy, yellow pegasus, it was the beginning of a night ... or nights in her case... for terror. She had to prepare. To say Fluttershy was scared of Nightmare Night was an understatement; she was terrified of it! She remembered her own personal Nightmare Nights well enough. As a filly, she remembered lots of scary moments. She could remember it like it was yesterday... *Flashback* ... The little yellow filly was in her house getting ready for her first Nightmare Night. She was going to go as a bunny, seemed simple enough. Besides, the whole event was to dress up in costumes, get candy and have fun, right? So why not join in? Then again, the only part she didn't like was all the spooky, scary stuff. However, as long as she was with her friends, Fluttershy would be just fine. What's the worst that could happen? Fluttershy wondered the streets of Ponyville by herself as she saw what other ponies were wearing for Nightmare Night. Knights, bed sheet ghosts, animals, princesses, wizards, heros, monsters, and other costumes were everywhere. Some were nice, others a bit too spooky for Fluttershy's liking. As she walked around town, the shy pegasus noticed all the other spooky decorations. Overall, she was somewhat scared of the atmosphere of the holiday, but was willing to go get some candy. She then walked over to a stand to buy an apple - "BOO!" exclaimed a pony in a monster costume, looking like a hairy werepony or some kind of other spooky creature. "AHHHHHHH!" screamed Fluttershy as she ran away. That was horrible! All she wanted was an apple, and some pony just had to jump out at her and scare her like that! Fluttershy then decide to look for her friends, but with all the costumes, any of her friends could be anything! Why was Nightmare Night so confusing and scary? "Blaaaaaaaaa!" a filly exclaimed, dressed as a vampire. Fluttershy turned and saw the 'vampire', then screamed again and ran away to another area of town. Gosh, even fillies were scary! This happened a few more times to poor Fluttershy. "Mmmmmmm!" a pony mummy said as it walked towards her. "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" Fluttershy screamed until she ran in the opposite direction .... only to meet a ghost. "BOO!" the ghost said, raising it's sheet covered hooves. "Ahhhhhhh! A ghost!" Fluttershy screeched as she ran away again. She was then cornered by a pony zombie. "Uuuuggghhhhhhh!" the pony zombie said as it slowly walked to her. "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!" the yellow pegasus yelled, fleeing and running off. Fluttershy was now understandably nervous, due to her scary encounters of the costumed ponies. Sadly, for the filly, Fluttershy ran into a skeleton! The decoration falling on her. "AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" squealed Fluttershy as she tried to get the skeleton off of herself while trying to get away. Unbeknownst to the yellow pegasus, as she tried to get away and get the decoration off of her, she tripped over some rope. "Ahhhh!!" Fluttershy exclaimed as her hooves tripped over the rope, falling on the soft ground. Fidgeting with the skeleton, Fluttershy failed to see that the rope she had tripped over lead to a sheet ghost tied to the other end of the rope, hanging above her. With the rope no longer tethered to the ground, the rope jerked, untying the other end of the rope, and the sheet ghost fell. After what help felt like minutes, Fluttershy managed to get the skeleton off of her and flung it into the air. Unfortunately, that is also when she saw the sheet ghost falling, and it landed right on top of her! "AHHHHHH!! AHHHHHHHHH! A ghost! Heeelllllppp!!! Somepony help me! The ghost has got me!" Fluttershy screeched, flailing her hooves and arms around, trying to make sense of her entanglement. What the filly didn't know however, was that the sheet ghost that fell on her was nothing more than a white bed sheet, with black eyes and a mouth put on the sheet with black marker. There were no eye holes, so the underneath part of the sheet was completely white, or in Fluttershy's case, pitch black, unable to see anything! "AHHHHHHHH!! AHHHHHH! AH! AHHHHH! HELP! GET ME OUTTA HERE! AHHHHHHHH!" Fluttershy screamed, flailing, twisting, and thrashing about as she tried to get untangled from the sheet. To make matters worse, the skeleton Fluttershy threw into the air, fell on top of the now sheet covered filly; the skeleton's skull landing on Fluttershy's ghostly head! "AHHHHHHH! What was that?! Help!!!" Fluttershy cried out, running away, still trying to get out of the white sheet as well as the skeleton. As Fluttershy struggled however, she unexpectingly wondered over to the Bobbing for Apple area. The other fillies noticed the ghostly skeleton monster heading in their direction. "AHHHHHHH" the fillies screamed, running away from the 'monster'. Fluttershy kept flailing as she tried to get free, and in no time at all, she tripped .... landing in the big wooden tub of water and apples. The water felt like an adrenaline rush to the poor filly, making her cry out for help even more. "AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Help! Help! Help! Heeeeelllllllppp!!! I can't see!!!" Fluttershy exclaimed, desperately trying to get free from both the ghost sheet and skeleton. The fillies only heard the monster mumble though, and ran away. Fluttershy luckily got out of the tub, still struggling under the white sheet and skeleton. It was now even harder since the sheet was wet. Eventually though, she was able to throw the skeleton and sheet off, and after seeing the remains of the 'ghost and monster' Fluttershy screamed one more time, and ran to her cottage, sobbing at her terribly horrific experience. The filly Fluttershy spent the rest of that night getting dried up, showered, and hiding under her bed covers. The door to her cottage locked, and the lights off. Safe of course, with the flashlight Fluttershy had with her under the bed sheets and blankets. "That Nightmare Night was my first and last one EVER! I'm never going back out on Nightmare Night again!" Fluttershy told herself, trying to find some comfort in her own reasoning for not celebrating the holiday. Tap, tap, tap! came some knocks on the door. "Ahhhhh! Go away!" Fluttershy screamed, running on her hooves up the stairs to her bedroom.
